  1. Finding a '76 Les Paul in perfect condition at a garage sale for $50? πŸ˜€
  2. I cheated on another forum today... (This is a confession thread, isn't it?)
  3. If it had just a tinge more red around the edges, you'd be all ready to "play that funky music!" πŸ˜‰
  4. My first real guitar was a '76 Les Paul (right after a hunk-o-junk Rondo that was nearly impossible to play). I loved humbuckers so much that I didn't own a Fender (or any other guitar with single coils) for at least 20 years... Of course, then I liked them too! πŸ˜‰ Now, all my customs have both.
  5. Will they make some equipped with muzzles? I know some people... πŸ˜†
  6. Maybe he meant "Concords" as in the grapes? πŸ˜€
  7. Some people are into metal, others prefer the classics.
  8. Nah. I've heard TD's tiny melodies. Not a single Am bass chord among them! πŸ˜†
  9. Wow! First new "thing" that has really impressed me in a long time! πŸ‘ Then the story is immediately followed by 3D-printed tiny homes that are almost exactly the same size as a jail cell. Wonderful... πŸ™„
  10. I started out with nothing and still have most of it left...
  11. Many of the internal snakes in my back-of-the-rack picture above are Hosa. Worked fine for me! Although I do make fun of them (deservedly so), I ended up with a LOT of Monster cables because I got a secret heads-up that my local Guitar Center was going to have to sell their current stock for 20% of the usual (never discounted) price and all because Monster was changing the packaging! I pretty much bought what they had left. At 100% (or even 60%) they're way over-priced, but at only 20% they were well worth it!
  12. Was that a reward or a punishment? πŸ™„ (Just asking for a friend. πŸ˜†)
  13. Ok, after downloading the correct samples, here's my initial assessment. Sample A is nice and clear, samples C and D are a tiny bit brighter but pretty much the same and B has a good bit more presence and brightness (a tad too much for my preference). Not sure if that helps but, if it doesn't then, here, have some becan! πŸ˜‰
  14. I think they all sound the same since every link goes to the same sample (A). I've changing the URL and saving each to take a listen, but thought I should point that out! πŸ˜‰
  15. Ohhh, yeah! You've gotta love having to pull rubber feet and sometimes stickers off to get to hidden screws! I find it best to have a YouTube video going that shows all the many places you have to look while I'm working. It cuts down on the damage! πŸ˜†
  16. I can only show you the door, it's up to you to walk through it.
  17. Ok, to be fair, I read the article (it was good and I understood it). I also listened to all of your "tunes" which are actually more like brief intros. I liked most of them as such, but I would suggest taking basic lessons so you can continue them and turn them into actual songs. Most babies make all sorts of sounds and noises that make them happy but, other than convey the baby's general mood, they lack the alphabet, words, spelling, sentence structure and grammar to be adequately shared with others which would communicate far more. Hence the suggestion to go learn music's alphabet, words, spelling, sentence structure and grammar.
  18. With so much to say I'd recommend starting your own forum. You WILL attract like-minded individuals and that will probably make you happier than you'll ever be here.
  19. Balanced cables used on unbalanced electronics might not only be a waste of money, it can also lead to some bizarre results (of the "not so good" variety). You can probably guess how I learned this... LOL! One other tip which I rarely see due to the tediousness of using it or, for some, just the looks is this: Put all audio cables into aluminum conduits (aluminium for you BritsπŸ˜‰) then wrap the power cables softly around the OUTSIDE of the conduit. I did this with a living room where I had a really nice surround-sound system and over-head lights. I had the conduit going up the corners of the walls and ceiling (both horizontally as well as vertically) and then I covered them with a nice crown-molding. Although using the 90-degree rule works most of the time, it's almost impossible to do in a normal room setup. When I can finally have a nice studio again, I will definitely be incorporating the above!
  20. Too many "professionals" and "experts" tend to out-think themselves. IMO, if it sounds good, it IS good! (This includes music reviews too.) Now, that said, just be sure you try the results with multiple output media. Most of us have all created a mix that sounds great while wearing headphones only to be sorely disappointed when we play it on decent speakers or in the car! πŸ˜‰
  21. I had so many cables I had to use detailed spreadsheets and blue tape to keep everything straight!
  22. Heh, I used to have a patch bay in every rack (along with a Furman power conditioner)! Oh yeah, and my entire setup was balanced.
  23. Hmm... Without all of that, my Mom gets free batteries for her hearing aid out here in Oregon. Maybe you just need to show you don't make squat to qualify? (Being a musician should be enough proof of that, ya? πŸ˜†)
