  1. Thanks Tom - yeah I try to do decent endings😊
  2. I thought it was a cool song - regarding the mix - I thought the vocal was a bit too out front - perhaps bring it down a bit or bring up the rhythm section. Just my two cents.
  3. Thanks for your comments - always appreciated.
  4. Thanks Jack - the drums are AD2 - I spent a bit of time selecting the proper ride for the drum track.
  5. Thanks for listening Andy - glad you liked it.
  6. Hey thanks David - I appreciate your comments and ears.
  7. That was excellent - it sounded quite good through my headphones. Nicely done. Regarding a hint of distortion - I think it was right on the edge - but not bad to my ears.
  8. Hi Everybody, This is a song I just remixed from "The Westerly Sessions Vol. IV" - one I never posted. I used my brother's Danelectro 12-string - gives it a bit of a retro vibe. I sang this with a Sennheiser MK4 mic, which I like a lot. Also, I sang it through a Studio Projects VTB-1 mic preamp - it actually sounds pretty good to me on this one. As always, any comments and critiques are welcome, and thanks for listening. Here it is: https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=14132180
  9. Thanks Allan - I'm glad you liked it.
  10. You have a unique style Jack - this is a good song - nice job by you and Tom on this. Excellent mix.
  11. This is a cool rockin' blues song Freddy - as always, I enjoyed your vocal (especially the harmonies) and the lyrics are excellent. By the way, this might be the best mix I've heard from you - nicely done.
  12. Thanks for the positive vibes Freddy - I appreciate it.
  13. Thanks Nigel - I hope all is well in SA.
  14. I'm glad you liked the mix - thanks for your ears.
  15. Thanks for the kind words Mark - I appreciate it.
  16. It's a fun song and I really liked the tempo changes that you incorporated. I agree with adding a bit of treble to the bass, as mentioned above. Perhaps bring out the snare in the mix a bit more as well. Overall, nicely done.

Nice job Allan - you're a top-notch song craftsman - I was most impressed by your vocal and vocal harmonies in this one - nicely done. Only crit - the volume overall was a bit low for my listening experience.
  18. I liked this one - and I really liked that echo - sounded great through my headphones.
  19. Thanks for the crits Jack - the drum grooves are quantized - perhaps I can clean it up a bit.
  20. Hey Tom - thanks for the positive comments and for listening - I always appreciate your ears. By the way, my brother took that photo - the butterfly is not photo-shopped - he doesn't believe in using it - lol - he's old school regarding photography.
  21. Hi Everybody, I just remixed and polished up The Westerly Sessions Volume II, and this is a rocker from that album that I never posted. On this I sang the vocal using a Rode NT1-A through a Warm Audio Tone Beast. The NT1-A is a bit bright, but I think it works well on busy rock mixes. The rhythm guitar is a Fender Strat, and the lead guitar is a Gibson Les Paul - both using TH-U. The drums are AD2 - the Black Velvet kit. Regarding reverb on this one, I used Breverb and REmatrix - my go-to reverbs. As always, any comments and critiques are welcome, and thanks for listening. Joseph.

That's an impressive live performance - and I thought the mix sounds quite good - despite the difficulties you described with mixing live performances- well done.
  23. I've never tried Side Chain Compression - I will give it a shot - see how it goes - lol. Regarding volume envelopes, for the most part I only use them for fades on the stereo track master mix - I always thought of them as being a bit messy (track view) and a bit imprecise - just my opinion. Sometimes i found that it's a pain to get the nodes exactly where you want them. I never posted Without A Care - thanks for giving it a listen.
  24. Really cool song and mix Nigel - it had an epic quality to it - probably due to the drum track.
