Favorite Freeware FX Thread

I'd also recommend the free version of the kilohearts Toolbox bundle. Before you go telling me that you get nothing on it, I'll remind you that the only restriction not having the modules has is that you can't edit them in Snap Heap and you don't have them as single plugins. All presets work and you can tweak the modules you have and the macro controls set by whoever made the preset. You can also open Snap Heap inside itself for even crazier setups. -
I only have dropouts, not crashes. They happen at random, usually after having effects running during normal playback. None of those dropouts seem to happen in other DAWs, though I haven't tested that enough. One thing is certain: Intel CPUs tend to favor single threaded performance over multithreaded. If your development setup is entirely Intel, there's a 99% chance that you'll end up optmizing for that architecture even without noticing. I understand that is hard to get out of 20 years of monopoly, but come on.

ARC and Monitors vs. expensive monitors
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to Bad Mac's topic in The Coffee House
It's not like it took me almost 10 years to have money to buy an audio interface or anything like that... -
Windows 10 sound quality - SOLVED

Isn't that "dark and harsh" sound what you get when you press the "4k" button? -
Home recording isn't the only expensive hobby.

There's also machining, but we don't talk about that. It's even more expensive. -
I can't check because their website seems to have a new bug that won't allow me to login into my account. As soon as I click on log in, both text boxes get cleared and nothing happens.

It's okay. It's okay that they're wrong.

Portable High Quality Guitar Interfaces that can reamp?
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to Matt Erece's topic in The Coffee House
You could try IK's Axe IO. There's also that Audient interface that does it if I'm not mistaken.- 2 replies

Major Update to Softube Central and Plugins
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
It's ironic that the anti-piracy mechanisms used in 99.9% of software these days harm the legitimate customer both in terms of convenience and performance. -
ARC and Monitors vs. expensive monitors
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to Bad Mac's topic in The Coffee House
You can spend millions on recording equipment, but tou can't bypass your room. -
Knowing the exact type of instrument used is irrelevant to the point I'm making, considering that's the only keyboard mallet in the song.

Puns Anyone? Got 'em? Post 'em.

I remember when time traveling jokes used to be funny. Flying United will certainly be a drag. -

If I stand that desk on its side, does it go through a normal door without any disassembly or maneuvers? -
If Waves sends me one more email about CLA Epic, I swear...

Major Update to Softube Central and Plugins
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
Why do I have the feeling that this enhancement made the plugins even more resource intensive than they already were? I'm currently trying the new amp simulations and it's impossible to run them inside Amp Room. It's also impossible to use Amp Room by itself. I don't know what it's happening under the hood and I heard is related to the amounts of encryption your products use. -
The piano thing with bars you hit with felt sticks to make that sound. ?

Here's some old stuff of just random dicking around 'Black Hole Sun'

I suppose it was intentional for the guitar melody to sound static like that? I mean static in the sense that the guitar is kept at a fixed dynamic range and note choice that, unless intentional, would be very unlikely for an actual guitar player to do on an instrumental track.

As @Wookiee mentioned, the vocals are buried into the mix and that makes them sort of unintelligible, especially if you're not that familiar with the English language. One thing I'll also mention is that, for me at least, the song looks like it was supposed to have that large sound but everything is so compressed that it ended up sounding small. If everything is massive, nothing is massive. I presume that is a genre thing?

Where Orchids Goes To Die - Wet Little Bird
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to Claudio Melis's topic in Songs
Getting some Mother Mother vibes from this. -
I feel like those marimbas are not loud enough on the mix.

Nice interlude. Something that can improve it is more dynamics, but without knowing what the entire piece is about, is hard to suggest how you can tell that story.

Home recording isn't the only expensive hobby.
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to Shane_B.'s topic in The Coffee House
One of the most expensive hobbies I can think of is simulation stuff. The software is expensive and the more involved simulators cost tens of thousands of bucks. -
I am played by the same issue. Sometimes audio drops out mere second after transport play for no apparent reason.
