music: great tones, production, mix....the piece is expansive and varied.... the writing diverse, confident and nice to listen to....Lisa did a great job on the vocals....great work there!!!! ???? video: compliments the song perfectly, nice to see something with old fashioned heart and soul

good work there Andy....enjoy listening to your version....always liked this song from the first time i heard it ????
-
Thanks Jesse....yes, i played bass and all other instruments as i always do, even managed to get a good sound from the SI-Drums VST by creating aux channels and working on beefing up the tones on the snare and bass drums....i used about 30 tracks including aux outputs and spent a lot of time listening to each section and trying to determine what each musician/ instrument could play in any given section....its a lot of concentration and really mentally draining but if there's no effort there's no results....cheers!! ????

hi Andy....Thank You....the lead guitar is pretty smooth as it just felt like the right sound to me....cheers!! ????
-
well constructed piece from beginning to end ????
-
Thank You Michael....the bass is a mix of direct injected and one of the Arturia Analog Lab V Light bass creations, can't remember which one.... Thanks again ?? ? ? edit: i checked and the bass is actually a mix of DI and the CbB SI-Bass VST ????

Condolences to you on the passing of your wife....you did a hearfelt tribute to her that is beautiful and powerful ????
-
great vocal on a great song....your voice, to my ears, is totally radio friendly....in fact, i'd go so far as to say your vocal is primarily what makes that song so good....good luck with it ????

Fourteen Years (original song and animation)
Larry T. replied to Dream Art Scientists's topic in Songs
video: good, gives the listener a context to imagine while listening song: not bad at all, it's definitely chill, which i do a variation of mostly....like the ambient genre, chill, to me anyway, is about getting the most music with the minimum amount of sounds to create a fulfilling listening experience....it is a bit long but not oppressively so, cheers! ???? -
the tones you create are stellar....same with the mixes, this one is no exception....the drums do tend to wander a bit in this piece at this stage of its development....like you say this is an early version which, to my ears, sounds like an electric mellow jam/soundscape with more writing and on going development forthcoming ????

Thanks antler....i tried to keep it as effective but as uncluttered as i could ????
-
Thanks steve....I think those peaks are in the Front Range in Colorado, southwest of Denver...yes, I wrote this with lyrics back in the late seventies or so hoping to get Linda Ronstadt interested but couldn't make the hook up ????
-
Thanks jeff....i'm starting to teach myself how to get a handle on the SI Drums VST....the unpredictable time lag when playing/recording is a real mood killer, i'm using the Piano Roll view, existing tracks waveforms, my ears, whatever i can to get the percussion placed where i hear it in my head recorded....so far the results are spotty at best, detrimental to the song at worst and not worth my thinking and energy....quantizing doesn't work unless it's the same beat throughout the whole song and the stuff i write is not that way....but i'm trying....i know the right percussion will take the songs to a higher level ????

Thanks! ???? Thanks! ???? Thanks! ???? Thanks! I originally wanted the song to be acoustic guitar only but it seemed to need some separation or individualization of the sections....i was trying to get the acoustic guitars (there are two different ones, one panned full left, the other full right) combined harmonics to be the echo or reverb and they do to some extent but they are dry, not even EQ'ed except on one that needed a small increase in the high spectrum ????

hi again!!...latest creation called Tranquil (ambient pop music)....comments, critiques and questions welcomed ???? link: https://larryterrano.bandcamp.com/track/tranquil-ambient-pop-music DAW: Cakewalk by Bandlab pc: windows 10, i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz, 8GB ram, acoustic and electric guitars, focusrite scarlett solo, arturia minilab mkII, arturia analog lab 5 lite, CbB effects reference speakers: M-Audio BX3 Special Thanks to Mike Enjo at #creativesauce on You Tube whose incredible videos on how to use CbB made this possible

great vx and chorus and yes, the whole song rocks along quite nicely....enjoyed it very much....probaby in the Top Ten of the all the songs i've heard here ????
-
music: great production, playing, arrangement, vx, tones and melodies, the drum segue around 2:48 was cool....nice touch ???? video: simple but effective....communicated clearly with no questions....would have liked a better ending, but that's just me....cheers!!!!

Hi Philip....good tune for sure, nice melodies, tempo and playing....the guitar recording, to my ears, is too muddy....i had the same problem on a song i did a few months ago and i had to redo it....as was said before Direct Injection of an acoustic guitar doesn't produce a generally accepted level of clarity or quality....i would remove or lessen the reverb and record the guitar on a mic and do an A/B comparison to see which one you prefer....heck, maybe a mix of the two of them might be the best!! regarding the drums i would mix them a bit lower and reduce the reverb on them as well....again, nice tune ????

Thanks John....yes, that's what i love about certain types of music....helps me to find a comfort zone ????
