  2. Since my cover of Hotel California was such a hit 🤣, I thought I'd try another one. This is can hardly be called a classic and it's even covered rather true to the original, so it shouldn't upset too much. Again without Melodyne. 3/3 2019 : New mix using Bandlab mastering, + vocal reverb + bass

  5. In January 2019, Christian Henson made a modular piano. He sampled his upright Schimmel felt piano and Wurlitzer, passing the signal through his modular rig — an array of analogue reverbs, delays, and other goodies — to give you four unique, beautifully atmospheric sounds with a slightly industrial edge. 10. Thanks for the kind words. We are indeed approaching the release date for Verberate 2 and we are happy to announce that it will be released on March 15, 2019. Version 2 comes with a new late reverb algorithm we call Vivid Hall. It is based on entirely new technology without feedback delay networks (FDN), comb filters, all-pass filters or similar techniques from traditional reverb design. As a result, the reverb tails are natural and pristine without repeating patterns, resonances and artifacts. Here's a link to a trailer video: Best, Stian
  11. http://www.voxengo.com/product/shinechilla/?eref=ml 23-Feb-2019: We are happy to inform you that Voxengo Shinechilla version 1.1 update is now available for download. Voxengo Shinechilla is an experimental creative harmonic generator effect for professional sound and music production applications, available in AAX, AudioUnit, VST and VST3 plug-in formats (including native 64-bit support), for macOS, and Windows computers. Version 1.1 includes the following changes: · Added VST3 support. · Added AAX support. · Implemented a fast Shift+Click insertion of control points. · Implemented a more flexible way to copy envelopes. · Implemented color scheme editor with load and save functions. · Redesigned the infrastructure controls. · Added Retina support on macOS, and automatic high-resolution UI size adjustment on Windows. · 40% to 55% lower CPU usage on AVX2-capable processors (in 64-bit mode). Shinechilla allows you to generate and blend 2nd, 3rd and 4th harmonics with the original dry sound. The harmonic generation process offered by Shinechilla is quite unique on the plugin market since it produces almost no intermodulation distortion. Shinechilla is mainly usable for solo instrument processing where it literally “shines” by producing convincing and full-bodied harmonic coloration. Shinechilla is also unique in that it is able to add harmonic coloration on top of the sound instead of distorting the whole sound. However, the option to saturate the whole sound is also available. The strength of harmonic coloration added by Shinechilla can be flexibly adjusted over the whole frequency range, for each harmonic. In overall, Shinechilla is a great tool for contemporary electronic music producers and sound designers looking for impressive timbres and sounds. Shinechilla features: · 2nd, 3rd, 4th harmonics generator · Spectral saturation · Spectral harmonic level control · Spectral threshold control · Stereo and multi-channel processing · Internal channel routing · Channel grouping · Mid/side processing · Up to 8x oversampling · 64-bit floating point processing · Preset manager · Undo/redo history · A/B comparisons · Contextual hint messages · All sample rates support · 60 ms compensated processing latency · User interface color schemes · Resizable user interface · Retina and HighDPI support Voxengo Shinechilla end-user license is available for purchase on-line for US$49.95

  15. All plug-ins updated, added side chain triggering to Pro-Q 3 Feb 21, 2019 We have just released an update for all FabFilter plug-ins, containing various bug fixes and improvements. This update is free for existing customers and we recommend everyone to update to the latest plug-in versions. So what's new in this update? Pro-Q 3: Added optional external side chain triggering to EQ bands. To use this, first click on the Auto Threshold button above the dynamic range ring to enable custom threshold mode. Next to the threshold slider, click the new External Side Chain button to enable or disable triggering on the external side chain input. Made the Processing Mode and Processing Resolution parameters non-automatable, to prevent automation from changing the latency during playback. In addition, all interface-only parameters such as the analyzer settings are now also non-automatable. Fixed bugs that could cause ringing sounds or sweeping filter effects when using higher order dynamic filtering. It is now possible to solo disabled bands again, like in Pro-Q 2. Fixed a bug that prevented copying and pasting automation from marking all parameters as changed in the preview buffer in Pro Tools, making it impossible to overwrite existing automation. Fixed a bug that caused the gain of a band to jump to zero when using the mouse wheel to adjust the Q in solo mode with the Gain-Q Interaction option enabled. Fixed a bug that caused the interface to become all white after double-clicking to edit a text value in the Audio Units plug-in in Ableton Live 10 on macOS 10.13. Fixed an issue that could cause the Audio Units plug-in to freeze for a while in Ableton Live when adding new bands. Fixed a bug in the EQ display that made it impossible to enter permanent spectrum grab mode when already in spectrum grab mode. Fixed a crash when entering EQ Match mode when there is no "stereo" yellow result curve in the EQ display (for example, if there are only Mid bands). All plug-ins: Updated plug-in for full compatibility with Mac hosts built specifically for macOS 10.14 (Mojave), such as Logic Pro 10.4.4, running under macOS 10.14.0 or 10.14.1. Previously this could lead to an all-black plugin interface. Improved the way settings are saved when multiple plug-in instances are open to make sure the last setting that was chosen is saved correctly for new instances. Added support for 300% scaling on 8K displays (High DPI) on Windows. Fixed an issue that could cause incorrect scaling of the plug-in interface in Cubase 10 or Live 10 on High DPI displays in combination with certain graphics drivers on Windows. Added a Refresh item to the Options submenu of the presets menu: this makes it possible to manually refresh the menu (and any V1/V2 Preset Folder submenus if available). Fixed a bug on Mac that could cause program changes received by one plug-in to be forwarded to other FabFilter plug-in instances. Pro-C 2, Pro-G: Added visualization of the plug-in input and output levels on Pro Tools control surfaces. Pro-C 2, Pro-G: Fixed a bug that could cause the plug-in to stay in a triggered state if Enable MIDI is turned off while the plug-in is currently triggering on a MIDI note. Pro-DS, Pro-L 2, Pro-MB: Added visualization of the plug-in output level on Pro Tools control surfaces. Pro-L 2: Improved the Pro Tools page table mapping for control surfaces. Pro-MB: Fixed a bug that could cause the plugin state to become corrupt, with the plugin output becoming silent in some very rare combinations of settings and audio input. Volcano 2: Fixed a bug that caused entering frequency values by note name (e.g. "A4") to always result in the maximum frequency value, and potentially cause a crash as well. Various minor bug fixes and improvements. The updated plug-ins are fully compatible with previous versions. The latest versions and 30-day trials are available for download now at www.fabfilter.com/download.

    Lover's Day

Written for Valentine's Day 2012 and recorded in SONAR X1, total remix in 2019 with CbB. This song came out of a time of devastating heartbreak when my wife of 33 years suddenly left me. Only now was I able to revisit this... it's sorta a soft rock piece unlike my usual prog fare.

  23. Considering to build a new DAW computer this year. Trying to figure out which CPU to go for. Stability is main priority, but speed and max load is also a priority. In the past I know many DAWs didn't work well with Xeon cpu's, but does that still apply in 2019. My current i7 computer is about 10 years old. Still working super, but would love to be able to run more plugins and soft synths with low buffer values. What kind of CPU would you good folks recommend me to go for next time?
  24. Produced and engineered for 30'ish years now. Still learning new things every day. You gotta love this business. You never stop learning and everything is evolving so fast. I remember the first computer based studio I built, in the 90's. Damn that was shit! Back then Cakewalk was a midi editor only. I had to use one computer for midi and one for audio, synced via midi. My current i7 was the first generation, but it still can handle everything I do. I get some pops and cracles on a full mix if buffer settings are low. But you know how it is. Always want things to be better and faster. I would love to be able to do a full mix on the lowest buffers. What kind of motherboards would you good folks recommend in 2019? My current one is a x58 sabertooth
