  1. Bit heavy though .. Thanks squire
  2. Agreed, there are a lot of synth sounds and it seems 'Am' is the note of choice .. I am not a great fan of instrumentals for that reason, although they are a necessary tool in all genres and I do use them an awful lot ( the BBC string section wouldn't fit in my toy room ). Your comments mean a great deal to me so many thanks. ATB Steve
  3. Thankyou for listening and the compliment 😌 ATB Steve
  4. That is the best compliment I have ever had .. she is old now and although I'm seventy I'd forgotten her input synth wise. Many thanks for listening and the informed comment ... I'm off to write a film score now ⏱️🟡 ATB Steve
  5. You know what mate, although that IS a great idea I was just doing this to try out their 25 years thingy. I kinda don't get instrumentals with synths , kinda easy'ish to achieve, feeling what you do is much harder that, and takes soo much more effort to mix and create. I love lyrics mixed with different sounds .. each to his own I suppose. But I did my best with this and I think I got the Xmas feeling I wanted ... so thankyou for your blessing and your ears. Stay well my friend and ATB Steve
  6. Love the vocal work, as Bjorn has written "The vocalist steals the show".
  7. Thanks for the comments guys .. ATB Steve

    Video

Blown away David, you little rascal ..so much talent here. I have no idea why your work makes me smile .. perhaps it's the unpredictability of where you think your being taken and where you go ... more of this please 😎👌 Stay well Steve
  9. Sorry for your loss, and as Gary has written I also feel your sadness which is so evident in your playing. Stay strong Steve

    Secret Mission

    Love it !👌 ATB Steve
  11. Didn't say but just to add, it has a Paul Young vibe . Love this song, however I still feel the drums are a bit repetitive .. but hey ho ... love the end too BTW 😎 Take care Steve

Think it needs a bit of tidying up here an there like Jack has pointed out, and it's a little thin in places ( Hammond ) ... so in my sketchbook it's not quite there yet, but I know you (well sort of) and my bet is you'll do a remix in time. Take care Steve Steve, I took you suggestion and remixed this. I hope it helps with your suggestions. Many thanks! This whole song has thickened up and it sounds really professional. It sounded like there was a little more compression and you pulled up the lower end, which I feel gives the song what it needs .. guts! Great work mate ( and I wouldn't say that if I never meant it ). ATB Steve

  14. As you know I became a fan of your work a long time ago and this is a great song with your unique vocal. For me I would have brought the drum track in around 1.40 so as not to make it too repetitive but it's small fry and I love the track as is. Great post ATB Steve
  15. Love this atmospheric and professional video and sound track, the whole thing works and gels, the 2001 reference is a nice touch, Excellent work ! ATB Steve
  16. LOVE the vocal, mix is excellent as is this bit'o'work and the lyrics are dammed good well done guys it's a winner here. ATB Steve
  17. Your gonna hate me ... I think this piece, although the glue between this or that, still needs the feel of someone playing the sound with ups and downs, perhaps a pause with a cello playing at counter ... this 'bump' does not work for me, the violin patch is far too repetitive and harsh but leads into a really great bit at the end which is, most probably the bit that works most, for me anyhow .. There, I told you you'd hate me. Still love your stuff though Steve
  18. Hi Paul, Yep, I'm with you on the tech side, it's not really my thing to do instrumentals with only synths .. just seems too easy to produce and there sooo many arps and triggers and weird & wacky samples now I think the old ways are missed by my 70 year old ears ...Thankfully there are some great musicians and songwriters here on this site which I'm humbled by. Their skill in playing proper instruments and writing lyrics is never lost on me ... Like 'If I Never' as an example of both types using old and new ideas when writing a good song, that does for it me as a ( 2nd rate ) singer/songwriter thanks for the listen and comment. ATB Steve
  19. Thankyou Bjorn, I know it's not really worthy but I'm glad you realise it was a bit of fun with this NI freebee. Stay well Steve
  20. Smashing lyrics ! You have loved and lost, that's for sure . Tom has great input when it comes to this song, so it's worth the time to see if he's comments work in the mix. My only crit is that the vocal, although good, seems a little rushed, to me it seems your trying to catch up with the beat, but as said I love the words you chose for the story and like the other guys here the 80's feel. Well done ATB Steve
