  1. The path to the dll loaded by Cakewalk may be viewed in the plug-in properties in the VST2 drop down above the plug-in UI. Click the details button in plug-in properties in the Plug-in manager. Click on the plug-in name to display the path in the Filename entry at the bottom of the screen It is also part of the data displayed in the VST Inventory tool I wrote. This tool is available on my Google page.

  5. Usually the installer is pretty good at detecting the CPU. There is a setting in Aud.ini called ThreadSchedulingModel. Read about it here.   9. A little more testing with Entire Mix. My first test just checked the file format. Subsequent tests put audio on the tracks. Entire Mix relies on hardware mains so in order to create six channels of audio requires six hardware outputs. I ended up using 6 ADAT channels on the Babyface. I have nothing connected to the interface ADAT ports.

  11. OK, I just ran a test. Export using the Bus failed so I switch to Entire Mix. Going to write a bug report on this. All data was routed through a surround bus configured for 5.1 (film/alternative) in surround preferences Pulled the wav into SoundForge to confirm it was a 6 channel wav. I use an RME Babyface Pro as my interface.

Could use MIDI-OX to see if the MIDI data is making it to the PC It's pretty easy to use download run the installer run midiox.exe set input in MIDI-OX to the drum kit hit the drum pads the notes should appear in the MIDI-OX display. If they do not the problem is before Cakewalk. If the notes show up in the display it is a Cakewalk configuration issue.
  20. You are most of the way there with the drum map. Use the virtual controller as the input and the drum map as the output on a MIDI track. Enable input echo on the track. It may be necessary to modify the drum map to use the note range of the virtual controller. IOW in addition to the channels in the drum map, there may need to be some changes to the note in/out columns so that the virtual controller operates in the range needed by the synth.
  21. @Jim Roseberry when running the Basic Workspace, the Event List View is unavailable. It is removed from the menu and the keyboard shortcut does not work.
  22. Both track 2 and the master bus show audio passed through them. Arm the MIDI track for recording, the press the record button in the transport and record the MIDI data being received. This will give you some data in the DAW to test with.
  23. Something happened The audio track shows it received a +2.0db peak signal from somewhere (MT-PowerDrumKit maybe) The audio track is routed to the Master bus. To make the buses visible click the near the bottom of the track header pane. This is likely an audio setup problem review the setup in preferences.
  24. Recording or not In order for the DAW to do anything with the audio generated by a plug-in there must be a track for the audio. Audio tracks and simple instrument tracks serve that purpose. One thing you will have to contend with when using software to generate sounds in place of your hardware is delay caused by audio interface buffering. You may find this delay to be a problem. Most use the hardware sound module instead of monitoring a soft synth through the DAW to avoid this delay.
