  1. This was what I was going to suggest. It may be possible to switch Aud.ini files on the fly. I have not experimented with it but here is the test. While CbB is running do some work in a project swap out the ini file as mentioned above Go to Preferences > Audio > Configuration File and click "Reload Config Settings" Check the new setup and continue working on the project My guess it this will work. If it does, script up the ini swap either as a batch file and manually perform the change in preferences or create an autohotkey script to preform the entire operation. Of course, autohotkey could be used to script the driver changes in preferences instead of messing with the ini file too.

    Revoce pro -ARA

Not built into CbB but autohotkey is a possibility. It would help to have some experience in programming/scripting.

If you want to use the version of SONAR bundled with the VS100 and participated in the Cakewalk account migration occurring between 2014 and Nov 2017 and do not remember your Cakewalk account login, contact support@cakewalk.com for more info about access to legacy software see https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/categories/360001718094- They may be able to help with other downloads from the old Cakewalk site such as the V-Studio 100 Control Surface Installer There are Win10 drivers for the VS100. They are available from Roland https://www.roland.com/global/products/v-studio_100/downloads/
  4. It is easy to change, the keyboard shortcut is SHIFT+left/right arrow The value may be affected by the workspace setting too.
  5. If this https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/audio-interfaces/komplete-audio-6/ is the interface There is a knob to the left of the headphone jacks to mix the direct signal from the guitar with the host signal from the DAW. Alternately, with the knob set all the way to host, enable input echo (the button to the right of the track record button) on the track(s) being recorded for the DAW to send these tracks with the playback tracks. This will have a delay because of the round trip the guitar signal has to make from the interface input, through the DAW and back to the interface output. The amount of delay depends on the driver buffer settings and plug-ins used in the project.
  6. MCompare may be worth a look, especially when it is on sale.
  7. All plug-ins make sure their output is suitable for the project. This includes plug-ins that use samples as their sound source. There should be no problem loading the samples in either plug-in regardless of the project settings. That said, some plug-ins do not work at all sample rate. Generally, these plug-ins have some notation about this in their documentation.
  8. The feature depends on the plug-in manufacturer. AFAIK, few manufacturers have implemented the feature. The details are available on @Noel Borthwick's website http://www.noelborthwick.com/2014/01/22/developer-notes-sonar-x3-vst3-internals
  9. EZDrummer like almost all soft synths accepts MIDI input and this is enabled by default in CbB. While adding synths to an audio FX rack does work and was the first method used for adding synths to SONAR decades ago, most synths should be added using the more modern ways of adding a synth that results in the plug-in going into the synth rack with an audio+MIDI track pair or an instrument track handling the plug-in I/O. There are several videos on Youtube about basic synth use in CbB. Consider reviewing them and/or reading about methods to add synths to project such as how the Add Track menu creates instrument tracks or how to use the synth rack and plug-in browser. Adding synths to an audio FX rack should be reserved for synths that operate on audio data, such as Vocoders. When it comes to sending MIDI data to plug-ins in the FX rack here is a general guide on how to do it
  10. I just posted links for free software to create animated gifs and how to avoid forum upload limits here
  11. Consider using the keyboard shortcuts to expand/collapse lanes SHIFT+T - for take lanes SHIFT+A - for automation lanes
  12. The link between double-click and view is clip-based. The default view a clip opens depends on the Track View Options menu > Click Behavior > Double Click > MIDI Clips setting Each clip may override the default by changing the edit menu in the upper-right of the clip.
  13. The suspend audio option in Cakewalk is often not necessary. IIRC, it is off by default. It depends on the driver mode and interface used. Some systems have no trouble sharing audio drivers and interfaces between applications. In no case, is it possible to share an interface between two applications running at different sample rates. Interfaces can only operate at one sample rate at a time.
  14. Thanks so much for sharing this info. This install is the first time my custom theme has been incompatible and I was thinking I would have to import all the updated elements individually. Your method is a quick and easy fix. Really appreciate it! There are a couple of ways to maintain user themes. Mercury is the theme name of the resource files used by CbB. Everything starts with Mercury. When opening a user theme (or Tungsten), the theme editor shows the current Mercury theme with the changes made by the custom theme. This means when new colors and images are added they are available right away in the user theme and theme editor as they appear in Mercury. When images change size as it the case with the inspector tabs in 2021.04, if the user theme has modified the images, they need to be updated to reflect the new size. For 2021.04, I opened my custom themes, deleted the old inspector tab images which reverts them to Mercury then edited the new images applying the appropriate custom color. Depending on the themes involved sometimes it is handy to have more then one instance of the theme editor open to copy between them. I also find it handy to keep the image editor open (in my case GIMP) with a copy of some of the old images to pick and copy colors between images. FYI, there is a section of this forum dedicated to discussing themes and using the theme editor https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/forum/31-ui-themes/
  15. It is on the to-do list. There is a dedicated area on the forum for feature requests and there have been several requests for a chord track like this one
  16. 2021.04 is not production at this time. There is an early access version available. Read about it here If you want to run the early access release, a link is provided in the post. When 2021.04 becomes production, if you have notifications enabled (the default), CbB will provide a notice about the update and allow you to download it directly from the DAW.
  17. Yeah, there is 50MB quota. I don't use any forum option to insert images into posts. imgur.com provides a copy button for the BBCode to past directly info the post. Once I upload a png or animated gif (the two formats I currently use) clicking on the image provides a list of copy options like this Click the BBCode copy button and right-click & paste in the forum post. ScreenToGif and LICEcap are both decent capture tools for animated gifs. I mostly use LICEcap because I started with it and it is simplier. But ScreenToGif can edit and add text to gifs so I grabbed its portable installer. It depends on how the link is added to the post. Using the method described above, images appear directly in post. They also appear as created. The forum does not mess with linked imaged. I have seen some post the url to the imgur page that hosts the image or the direct link to the image. As mentioned above, I use the BBCode copy option and paste it into posts to embed images.

    Computer overload

Some Dell computers run a program called “Dell SupportAssist Remediation” which has been identified as a resource thief. See
  19. There are two basic track types in CbB: Audio - these have a wave icon MIDI - these have a 5 pin DIN icon Instrument tracks (a keyboard icon) is a special presentation of an audio+MIDI track pair. Normally a synth requires at least one audio+MIDI track pair or an instrument track to handle the MIDI data consumed by the synths and the audio data generated by the synth. When adding a synth plug-in into a project, all methods except the Add Track menu rely on the Insert Soft Synth Option Dialog for information about the tracks to add with the synth. The Add Track menu options are in the menu itself. If the Insert Soft Synth Options dialog does not appear every time a synth is added to a project, the "Ask Every Time" option has been deselect. This may be restored by opening the dialog using the "Insert Synth" button in the synth rack and re-selecting "Ask Every Time". After adding a synth to a project additional tracks may be added and connected to a synth. For example, after adding a synth with just a MIDI track, to complete the synth setup add at least one audio track and set its input to the synth. It is possible to create an instrument track by selecting the audio+MIDI track pair associated with a synth, right-clicking either track header and selecting "Make Instrument Track"
  20. Unless the registry is cleaned up as part of the re-install, BandLab Assistant has no idea what happened to the install it performed. The clean install process is detailed here BandLab Assistant keep track of what was installed. The details have been posted several times like this
  21. I prefer to upload images to an account I setup on https://imgur.com Then link them to post here. This avoids the forum quota issue entirely.
  22. Check for config differences between X3 and CbB such as the UseHardwareSamplePosition setting in Aud.ini
  23. try changing the recording mode to Sound On Sound
  24. A drum map may work. Each note number or a group of numbers to different targets.
  25. The SHIFT (partial personalization) and CTRL (full personalization) start up options may not be in the documentation. I believe they are part of the scripts used by the help desk. They have been mentioned in the forums for years. Partial personalization copies the user directory files from a master set of files in ProgramData without overwrite. Full personalization copies the user directory files with overwrite and resets some registry entries to their defaults. There is an option on the CbB Windows context menu and properties page to run as administrator. As a rule, running the DAW as administrator is not necessary.
