  1. oh, that (edit: filtering stuff by owned status) sounds nice. I didn't mind it too much (to be fair I owned most of the gear which is one workaround :)) but anecdotally it really seemed to bug people and was brought up in threads that would otherwise bring in new customers. Honestly can't imagine IK gained too many sales from that but I might be wrong and you all might have analytics for that. Peter, just wanted to mention/sympathize that IMO you got assigned a tough job initially... it seems like IK sent you out alone to face the internet during a week many of us especially in the USA were on edge (pandemic, election), and gave you screenshots, prices, and a new acronym, but no (immediate) sound samples, demo, or release date. Glad things are clarifying for some users and use cases.
  2. I haven't tried GR6 but have heard it's no longer super-competitive sonically even with the new amp sims. Lots of people like the workflows and its use as an effect though. Do you have Komplete or would benefit from lots of the other NI stuff? NI's upgrade path also heavily incentivizes going for Komplete and avoiding one-off pickups if you can wait, but I don't necessarily want to advocate spending $400 when you were set for $100
  3. +1, this seems to be the best path for anyone wanting to upgrade right now (upgrade directly or do what Larry did and register a fresh AT4). And if you wanted the new AT5 gear, you'd upgrade to AT5 full instead of SE. I think one thing that AT4 MAX Owners in this thread are a little concerned about (I don't want to speak for others, but at least myself) is that after going the AT5 full + expansions to fill things out route, yes, we'd own every piece of gear in the AT5MAX set, and we'd have spent more than AT4MAX + AT5MAX upgrade, but in their system we'd be AT4MAX users, not AT5MAX users. In the past IK had "MAXGrade" offers to Total Studio Max. IF Total Studio Max 3, 4, ... are ever a thing, AND IK offers a MAXGrade in the future, would there be a cutoff between AT5MAX users and AT4MAX users? Would we AT4MAX users be lower-class customers? My initial thought is (edit) maybe because they sold AT4MAX for cheap recently, but that is making a ton of assumptions about product roadmap and marketing. For now, keep rocking
  4. comparing the "what's included" pdf to product pages... I think I'll have one of those crazy-person boards with pins and thread connecting random things by the end of this AT4 was Marshall-oriented and had 5 amps (plus the free custom shop set): Product page is still up here. Brit 8000 (5CS), Brit 9000 (5SE), Red Pig (5Full), Brit Silver (5Full) and Brit Valve Pre (5Full), and I think one pedal - Acoustic Sim (5Full) So if someone new to Amplitube purchases 5SE, they get two of the five amps from AT4. If you get 5Full, you get all five. If you did what Larry did and purchased AT4 and upgraded to 5SE, you would have all these AT4 things. Then in AT5, there is the VIR stuff, new mixer, new signal path, etc. It looks useful and substantial but I'm ignoring all that and only listing the gear here. From the "what's included" pdf, all of this gear is only in AT5 Full, and none of it is in AT 5 SE. Stomps - Sansamp, MXR Dist+ Amps - Archon, Friedman PT-20, Aguilar DB750 + its cab, Bogner XTC, and Diezel VH4 Racks - several effects from t-racks or that mix rack thing they just released Rooms - bathroom and subway Refreshed cabs - still unknown. I made an assumption in an earlier post 5SE would upgrade these for your existing models but that was unfounded and might be wrong. We'll wait for clarification? Edit: looks like calrification may have arrived while writing this, thanks Greg
  5. Greg - +1 to Larry's post but just to emphasize because this isn't the clearest thing ever, AT4 purchases after Oct 15 seem to upgrade to AT5 SE, not AT5 "full." I believe you'd still register AT4 in your account to get the upgrade but also because AT4 has gear that isn't in AT5SE. AT5SE seems to basically upgrade the "engine" and maybe refresh the old cabs (edit: refreshed cabs might be an AT5 full thing? will wait to hear/see) at AT5 full gives you the new gear? FAQ: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/?id=1305
  6. damage 1 owners may be able to upgrade for $250 at the official site https://heavyocity.com/product/damage-2/ At release it was $299, or $199 upgrade, but that's expired Might be around that at black friday? If I recall, heavyocity does "extra x% off if buying 3 things" type sales then
  7. The thread over at GS has some more details. Please correct these if wrong. AT5 Custom Shop is similar to AT4 custom shop and doesn't have the remodeled cabs and such. All your existing gear will import but it seems like it'll behave very similarly to AT4? Upgrading to AT5 SE gets you the new cabinet models, gui, etc. But I don't think any of the new AT5 amps/effects? Upgrading to full AT5 also includes all the five new AT5 amps, two new stomps, studio effects, etc. AT5 MAX is AT5 plus all the expansions and custom shop gear released up until now. Edit: they'll have more details tomorrow on what features separate AT5 Custom Shop vs AT5 SE.
  8. I imagine there's tons of ground to cover across all the forums and sites on product announcement days . Roadrunner might be a good analogy.
  9. thanks for linking this. my post was a guess on what would be in MAX. Very tentatively: The five new amps, and new effects look to only be in full AT5, not SE. I'm not sure about the cool new speaker stuff. Most of the AT4 stuff is also only in full AT5, not AT5SE -- these were the marshall amps. Red Pig, JMP,-1 etc. However the 900 looks to be in SE and the 800 even in custom shop.
  10. Looks like it and I'm sure many of us have bought some/most/all of the expansions as well. It seems like there's a very good chance that if you already have "AT4 + significant extra stuff", then plain AT5 upgrade might make more sense than MAX.
  11. I'll note that previous post is only talking about the amps, there are new cabs, effects (including a bunch from T-Racks), etc. Refreshed GUI and an IR capture process where they used a robot to capture many more points in space.
  12. The expansions since AT4 maybe? Fender Collection 2, SVX2, Brian May, Satriani, Dimebag Darrell, Leslie AT4 Max already had Orange, Mesa, Slash, Fender 1, Hendrix, SVX. I might have accidentally listed some AT4 stuff in the above group. AT5 seems to have 5 new amps, based on (from their site): PRS Archon, Friedman PT-20, Aguilar DB750, Bogner XTC, Diezel VH4. Plus a Sansamp pedal that can be used as an amp. I'm not sure if these are in SE or just Standard/MAX though. opinion zone - I imagine handling all the upgrade cases for all users, especially with a product set as broad as IK's is tough (very few companies have flagship synths + effects + mixing/mastering + hardware), but +1 that AT4 MAX -> AT5 MAX seems high at $300, especially for users who may own most of the expansions. Maybe upgrading to AT5 standard is the path to take for those users. Softube's Volume series, Native Instruments Komplete, and I'm sure many other companies have similar upgrade paths where piecemeal purchases don't really "count." For new customers $600 list seems like a really high anchor but AT5 MAX does have lots of models. AT has been my default amp sim for years and I'll definitely pick this up eventually, but IK's sales strategy has officially trained me to wait a bit. Though it seems likely upgrading to AT5 custom shop and bringing already-purchased stuff in is purely a positive? Also, excited to see what people think of the new amps but some of the products, both hardware and software, that has come out in the last couple years is really a step up (Neural, etc.). Very tough to beat AT's breadth though.
  13. just looking for new stuff, Matcha (guitar VI?) and Engl Savage 120 might not have been eligible for the last sale but are now. But I don't follow this stuff too close.
  14. Last year at Black Friday, Magenta5 was 70% off (€199 -> €60) and personal discounts could stack. That doesn't mean it'll happen again this year of course, just that it might be waiting a few weeks to see. And Zo, sorry I didn't fully get your last post. By "not pretty" on the SSL comps, did you mean that no plugin really stood up to hardware, or that some plugins were much better than others?
  15. Included at no cost in the PA MEGA Bundle! j/k
  16. cynically: what about after that, OneKnob WUP Simply turn the dial to the right to increase frequency of major version increases, from a transparent "slow" setting (once every 4 years) down to an ultra-fast setting of twice a year. You'll immediately get those warm, vintage profits modeled from days when all plugins could be sold for hundreds of dollars. Release notes: v1.1 is a bugfix release fixing the time calculation. In situations with a recently-purchased plugin, users would receive twice the intended WUP.
  17. thanks! we were just talking about this a few weeks ago and figured it was only a matter of time before it got a 50% discount.
  18. Just a few weeks later this one's on sale for 50% off. Larry posted, and the suggested code was very close, it's CORY50
  19. If future, but "announced at a presentation" breakages count ARM Macs are probably going to require v12 right? some users are reporting v11 still works on Big Sur.
  20. Edit: This covers the same as Larry's post but leaving it up for the example case. It looks like in some cases extensions can go for more than a year, like before, but now you're paying for that time, at the rate of maximum $240/year. I'm having a hard time finding the right words to easily explain what's going on... always reassuring when a company sets their business model up that way . But my account's example is pretty straightforward: I have plugins V9, V10, V11. Many purchased, several free, but that doesn't seem to matter with WUP. When I go to upgrade I see two groups: Group A, "Expired": Many plugins that have fallen out of WUP. All purchased or obtained over a year ago. Group B, "Covered": A handful of plugins still in WUP. Purchased or obtained for free within the last year. By default, all the plugins in Group A are selected and none in Group B. My offer is $240 which will renew WUP for one year from today. As soon as I start selecting plugins from Group B, the extension date for all the plugins is set to one year past the latest expiration date. However the price scales up to match. My most recent plugin is a freebie from the last sale. It has WUP through September 2021 already. If I choose to extend it along with all my expired plugins, my WUP price increases from $240 (one year cap) to $476 but all plugins are extended to September 2022 -- just under two years of renewal for just under two years of cost. As a bonus, the plugins are licensed to a single machine. You get two licenses so long as you pay for WUP but the day your WUP sub expires the extra licenses vanish. Sort of seems like the worst of artificial upgrades and subscription business models.
  21. AT Satriani has a really versatile mix of amps. I was always surprised no one really models Rockman stuff, given how many amp sim plugins are out there now. Boss GTs have it but that's hardware
  22. Thanks! Looks like since it's "MIDI Month" everything's 20% off including this ($24) Any Toontrack experts know good prices for generic midi packs? Thomann seems to have 6 for $98 / €83.62, which is $16 per if you're eventually going to purchase 6.
  23. Thanks! From the list maintained by the community (or user doom64), this emulates the Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor, and a Langevin 258-A EQ. I believe the comp is the focus of the product. Edit: list is at https://justpaste.it/AcusticaAudioAcquaMasterList
  24. No problem! I'm just tentatively waiting for the likely -50% to demo and likely grab it Maybe black friday.
  25. Yes, Neural DSP stuff sounds very good. Apologies if I'm missing something, is there or will there be a deal here? They rotated several products through -50% a while back but this one was too new at the time.
