  1. Jimmy Buffett concerts were events. I've attended hundreds of concerts, but Jimmy's vibe was different from the rest. We had a special way of starting a Buffett concert off. We'd start a week or two before the show, driving around the neighborhood, looking for an old sofa out on the curb. We'd put it in the bed of my friend's truck, along with a couple of coolers and a baggie or three, and get to the show way early. Stuck a Buffett tape in the player and started the party. When the concert was over, we'd push the old couch out into the parking lot and leave it there. 🤣 I visited the Margaritaville grill in St. Bart's once, the one where he liked to drop in from time to time and grill burgers for customers, but didn't see him. That would have been fun.
  2. Aha. I knew there had to be a limit somewhere. Glad you finally got the full download. And make sure you d/l the manual at: Download - English version
  3. It does sound like the problem is with your ISP. Your broadband connection may be good, but there may be constraints imposed by your specific account.
  4. Same here. And he's still working on it! v2.4.3 is the last stable release, and it's been around for awhile. But...you can d/l the current beta v2.5.4, released a little over a month ago. Here's a page the describes the new features in beta v2.5.3. It includes an interesting discussion of the problems he's had/having with the AAX Pro Stools version. Youlean Loudness Meter beta v2.5.3 changes and new features
  5. I've only got 3: 2x2TB T7 a 1x2TB X5 Thunderbolt 3 SSD for my sample drive. 👍 EDIT: Downloading. Good thing I speak German (I wish my French was as good), since the User Manual is in German. EDIT 2: I just noticed that there's also an English User Manual link at the bottom of the page. One more nice detail from the dev!
  6. I have that...and forgot all about it.
  7. Hi Max. I'm just an amateur home studio enthusiast, not a gigging musician. I bought a license to play with. I had hoped to be able to route audio from Gig Performer to Studio One, but forgot one thing. On Windows, I would need a multiclient ASIO driver for that, and the driver for my PreSonus 1810c is single client. So, that failed. I was hoping to eliminate the Voicemeeter "middleware". Oh, well. And another odd thing. I have a 4K display on my laptop, scaled to 200%. The plugin UI in Gig Performer scales, but in Studio One, it doesn't, making it impossible to see and work with. Sigh. So, for me personally, it's still in the toy/test phase. Gig Performer users on Macs are having good success with it in live situations. I know that multiple instances of it can be used within a single VST host, but I haven't figured out a test case for that yet.
  8. The current v1.12 installers told me that I had a version of v1.12 installed already. I did, but the file dates on this version are newer, and the file sizes are different. I'm guessing that the couple of minor fixes in the current update didn't get their own version number. So, even if you have v1.12 installed, get the new installers. Blue Cat Connector has been great for sending audio and MIDI between multiple instances of Gig Performer, and between Gig Performer and Reaper, with no noticeable latency. Blue Cat Connector A couple of examples. I suspect that many of you will recognize the voice in the first video. This includes an example of sending audio from Cubase to Cakewalk on the same computer.
  9. I live alone, and went from an 1800 sq. ft. townhouse in the U.S. to a 550 sq. ft. apartment in France. I donated all of my DVDs and Blu-rays and 75% of my CDs and all of my furniture to a local charity 2nd hand shop before I left. Because of tax laws in France, you can't find unfurnished apartments or houses to rent. Buy empty or rent furnished. I got to know my landlady and she kindly allowed to remove the furniture in the second bedroom (which just barely held a double bed and has no closet. The one CD rack I brought with me is in the 2nd bathroom, blocking the sink. I invested in 2 König & Meyer guitar stands and can now get 10 basses in the space where I had 3 tripod stands. I bought a small desk and a 17" laptop to replace the desktop that I left behind. I bought a couple of 6.5" Focal monitors to replace the large monitors I sold. I replaced the Rumble 200 I sold with a Rumble Studio 40. It all fits. Just barely. If you have one or more kids, then you need the second bedroom. If not, then a small studio is possible. I am slowing learning how to live in much less space. Good luck with your transition.
  10. I haven't watched the videos yet (next up), but I'm laughing already. My first job out of college was two years ('78-'79) as Asst. Crew Chief on the Neutrino beam line at Fermilab (a particle accelerator physics research center). The Higgs boson was discovered in 2012 at CERN. Never thought it would become a musical joke. OK, off to YT to watch the two videos. From the CERN website: How did physicists know it was the Higgs? On 4 July 2012, the ATLAS and CMS collaborations announced the discovery of a new particle to a packed auditorium at CERN. This particle had no electrical charge, it was short-lived and it decayed in ways that the Higgs boson should, according to theory. To confirm if it really was the Higgs boson, physicists needed to check its “spin” – the Higgs boson is the only particle to have a spin of zero. By examining two and a half times more data, they concluded in March 2013 that, indeed, some kind of Higgs boson had been discovered. Discovering the Higgs boson was just the beginning. In the ten years since, physicists have examined how strongly it interacts with other particles, to see if this matches theoretical predictions. Interaction strength can be measured experimentally by looking at Higgs boson production and decay: the heavier a particle the more likely the Higgs boson is to decay into or be produced from it. Interaction with tau leptons was discovered in 2016 and interaction with top and bottom quarks in 2018. But there is much more still to learn about this elusive particle.
  11. Beat me to it. And the spectral editing in Acoustica Premium is terrific. I bought a license years ago, and shortly thereafter uninstalled SpectraLayers. It is a superior product. And v7.5 should be released soon. Can't wait. Also note that the Premium version supports ARA2, and works great in Studio One.
  12. Fabulous, JB! Made my morning. Here's my Chihuahua, Peanut, when he's pretending to be sane. 😋
  13. Hats off to Hyundai (brand) for their success with the Kia brand. Kia was (and still is) the secondary brand to the Hyundai (car). Back in the '90s, before Hyundai's quality improvement efforts, the Hyundai cars were pretty awful, and Kias were terrible. To quickly improve product quality ahead of their international push, Hyundai did something brilliant. When Toyota released the 5th generation of the Camry, Hyundai bought the entire 4th gen manufacturing line and moved it to Korea. Their next generation of Sonatas were 4th gen Camrys with different sheet metal. They reverse-engineered the 4th gen Camry and adapted what they learned to their own design and manufacturing efforts. They still needed to offer that 10 year warranty to overcome existing buyer hesitation due to previous awful product quality. But...it took them several years before they applied those learnings to Kia. On a relative level, Kia was their Chevy to the Hyundai Oldsmobile (before GM corrupted it). Now, I've met several people who think that Hyundai cars are the second brand of Kia. THAT'S excellent marketing. I spent 9 months riding around Seoul in taxis when I worked there. The 'mobum' (deluxe) taxis were the new Camrys/Sonatas, while the regular taxis were Kias and similar. They were miserable. Hyundai has come a LONG way.
  14. Once bitten. Twice shy. Oops, make that trice shy. My sympathies. No schadenfreude today. Just the pure joy of knowing that Waves is no longer polluting my DAW. Some great plugins, but worse than woeful business strategy and execution.
  15. Who cares. I happily divorced Waves after v12 after being WUP'd and shelled to death.
  16. Glad that I bought a license for MDrummer the last time it was on a good sale. 🙃
  17. I already owned MDrummer, so I had a lot less to download. Meldway turned out to be more than 40 GB. There were also 2 updates that were downloaded and installed (about 5 GB total).
  18. And I already have AAS' Multiphonics 1 & 2. If I ever decide to build my own instrument, I already have a platform to do that. So, I've got all I need from Melda. And good tip on the instrument parameters. Meldway is still downloading. I'm on 500 mbit/sec fiber link, but Melda isn't delivering at that bandwidth (actually about 5% of that).
  19. Yes, you can upgrade, but... I just purchased this and am downloading the Essentials and the two pianos (3 GB, 3.5 GB and 40 GB!). I did have an upgrade option to the full version, but Melda can tell what you paid for it, so my upgrade price was 269 €. I have ZERO need for the full version. So, this was the bargain for MSoundFactory that I've been waiting for.
  20. One more thing about Reaper themes... Learning and using Reaper without Kenny Gioia is a much greater challenge, and ALL of Kenny's videos use the default theme. Some are harder to follow when using a non-default theme. I know. I've tried.
  21. Martin Scorsese, left, and Robbie Robertson before they presented the film "Last Waltz," at the 31st Cannes International Film Festival.
  22. We lost another icon, DJ Casper, from Chicago, creator of the Cha-Cha Slide. He was 58, taken by cancer. A sad day.
