  1. I'd park the gear away for a couple of years and then see how you feel. Decent mics/instruments will probably gain value and get a higher selling price (probably a better return than many types of investment). Plugins and various types of electronics probably not.
  2. My story^ Someone stole my capo and now I can't even tune my nylon string guitar. 😢 My career arc destroyed overnight. I never mention that I only have one nylon string guitar (a Costco special) and it's a POC. The demo in the store sounded way better, mine's very dead sounding in an odd meh sort of way. My own fault - I should have opened the box in the store and checked it out before paying for it. It was on sale, bought it on a whim and stuck the box in my closet before flying out to Utah to take care of my dad. When I got back around 4 months later I didn't feel right about returning it after that length of time; if I had paid more I might have been pissed off enough to try and get my money back. Probably TMI
  3. BTW if you're using Windows and pulling your hair out regarding NA/Kontakt issues you might want to check out this older thread about same/similar subject and the suggested fixes.
  4. Whenever I update NA it then takes forever to fully install, resync, etc.. sometimes hours. Last time I finally gave up and shut it down and when I ran it later it seemed happy. It now comes up OK, not immediately but reasonable and I can update things but the spinning circle in the upper left will continue spinning for 20 minutes or so regardless of whether there's updates or not.

  6. Release Notes Version 7.10.1 2024-04-19 FIXED Increased startup time, and visual & audio lags (introduced in Kontakt 7.10.0 update) @cclarry Maybe update OP/thread title?
  7. Take a look at Spitfire Audio Originals Intimate Strings which is selling for $29. 579 reviews getting a 4.8 average out of 5 Just listen and compare the walkthroughs between the two. I think that the 8dio version has a lot more articulations, etc. but if you don't like the way the library sounds - does that matter? 8dio's new line, SoundPaint, seems to be getting some attention. I can't speak to how good or bad SoundPaint is as I have stayed away from 8dio since my earlier misadventures. Edit: if articulations, etc are critical for you... Consider picking up Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition which is currently on sale for $299, even if you have to make payments. It's a killer sale. I spent a lot more than that at 8dio picking up 'sale' items individually. It is huge, you may need to get extra storage or enlarge it; you also don't have to install everything all at once (or at all). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Note: The opinions expressed here are solely my own. 8. need to reword... …but I'm just a poor boy, I need no symphony a guitar for the highs, a bass for the lows, a drummer that can make things go a keyboard player and singer that can sing on key - and that's all that really matters to me, to me
  9. Try peppermint tea for G.A.S. it's effective, besides being soothing and making your tummy feel nice. By the time I go to the kitchen, heat the water, get a cup, find the tea, brew a cup and get back to my computer I've forgotten why I made the tea in the first place.
  10. self respect is a requirement? Jeez, next they'll require talent...
  11. New firmware? Not showing up in my IKM Product Manager... All I'm seeing is v.5.5.0 released Feb 16, 2023 Nevermind - how to is covered in the 1st couple of minutes of the video in the OP...
  12. Sorry that you picked one of the coldest days of the year to visit us. It was a perky 39 degrees this morning (nice & sunny though). Hope you have a great time on your trip!
  13. Has Verve Analog Machine Essentials surpassed 6,176 downloads? (Also even if they have - there's no real incentive for UA to rush and either take down the announcement about it that you see first time you connect to webpage or deliver the galaxy freebies as it motivates people to download/install their new plugin).
  14. That's a friggin killer price. I got it on sale for $444.11 and thought that was a good price at the time. I'm still making payments on it. Too bad I can't credit the difference... Oh the joys of software and virtual instruments! Wonder if Eastwest feels they've milked out the premium wallets out there and are testing a volume vs pricing strategy (i.e. selling more for less). If I had paid full price for this bundle I'd probably be enraged instead of slightly depressed...
  15. Ran into same thing... https://www.uaudio.com/downloads/ua-connect
  16. Plugin is actually free when using FireFox. Still more than my house on Edge.
  17. Don't know if I can afford 'free'... EDIT/UPDATE: LMAO 🤣 - I just got an email reminding me that I left my $999999 item in my shopping cart.
  18. I slept in my Beatles t-shirt and woke up in Strawberry Fields... I slept in my Alice Cooper t-shirt and woke up Raped and Freezing (bad, bad night) I slept in my 10CC's t-shirt and woke up An Englishman in New York I slept in my America t-shirt and woke up with A Horse with No Name I slept in my BB King t-shirt and woke up with Lucille I slept in my Mott the Hoople t-shirt and woke up Ready for Love next night, I slept in my Bad Company t-shirt and woke up (once again) Ready for Love I slept in my Backstreet Boys t-shirt and woke Larger Than Life (trying to call my doctor, it's been over 4 hours)
  19. How temperature stable is your environment? Checking (cracking as shown) mostly happens when a guitar is exposed to temperature changes as the finish and wood expand/contract at different rates. E.G. In winter take a guitar case from trunk/garage/basement and pull out the guitar indoors without giving it a chance temperature equalize and you might witness the magic happening like a timelapse movie of a spring thaw hitting a frozen lake.
  20. Not hard to imagine - it's called Trackspacer by Wavesfactory. Wonder if they'll beat its PluginBoutique price of $59
  21. No problems here. with either Edge or Firefox but not currently using ESET. I actually prefer ESET but currently using BitDefender on my current laptop because for some reason it didn't like ESET (I've used ESET forever and everyone else in my family uses it without issues); I suspect this is an issue with my machine but haven't had the time to fix it cause I'd probably have to reinstall Windows and all my apps. Normally BidDefender has a cow if website certificate has issues - maybe you need to blow out your browser's cache?

  23. Sorry to disappoint you all but it's not hex , and not quite decimal though it uses only digits (no strict format for build numbers**, a lot of times it's just the executable's last modify date in hex). ** not the 4th section show below but a unique stand alone build # like 92457bd Format Major.Minor.Patch.PreRelease or Build though not all companies call all the sub sections the same. I thought the max would be 7.999.999.999 - I was always told it was 3 digits per section, but I looked it up and it looks like it can hit 9007199254740991 per section. So if NI released a minor version every second (7.9.0. 7.10.0, 7.11.0, etc) it would be 286,401,075 years, 10 weeks, 4 days, 7 hours, 36 minutes, 22 seconds before they ran out of numbers and had to release 8.0.0 I did the math on Google so if it's wrong sue them.
  24. BTW I did open a bug report with Cakewalk over this issue and they said they are looking into it. Root of issue is change in VST3 spec. Spec NOW specifies the usage of the “MyPlugin.vst3” folder as ‘a bundlelike package’ containing the plugin and all additional resource files useful for the plug-in. In previous SDKs, the VST 3 plug-in was defined as a single dll file with the .vst3 extension. This has been deprecated since VST 3.6.10. You can move the whole MyPlugin.VST3 folder, for example into subfolder for organization, but extracting the plugin might cause issues. In some cases (like with United Audio VST3s) moving the embedded plugin out of its .vst3 folder will break it (UA plugins loose their skins). Currently the VST scanner doesn’t account for VST3 plugins transitioning from the pre VST 3.6.10 spec to the current.
