  8. "National Indigenous Peoples Day" is a Canadian celebration on 21 June. "Indigenous Peoples' Day" is the US holiday. Credit to the Yanks for using the apostrophe.
  9. That one could really do with the John Cage treatment.
  10. Shankar - Song For Everyone. Not the best recording, but fantastic nonetheless. More here:

  13. I'm guessing it might be down to the number of inputs/pre-amps. https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/focusrite-scarlett-6i6-scarlett-studio
  14. Er ... "smoking weed and swimming with dolphins".
  15. You can get the full version for $25 at KVR Marketplace at the moment.
  16. I completely forgot about that. Anyway, I've just installed it without any problems. One issue for me is my laptop has a screen resolution of 1600 x 900, and this thing is just too big for it. Further, being shallow, there's something about the style of the graphics that doesn't sit with me. And I don't like plug-ins with a built in shop. I've had a quick play with a few of the presets and nothing's made we go "Wow!" yet. And there're a few sounds that are downright unpleasant to my ears. I suspect it's something that will soon be put to one side and forgotten about, but then most of my little ditties are 90% based on 303/808/909 emulations.
  17. I must admit I've not had much of a play with it yet myself - I picked it up for $5 from KVR a while back. My nearly 7 year old laptop struggled with it a bit. But apparently there have been significant performance improvements and I really need to revisit it. And pay for an update. Paying for updates isn't compulsory, but the developer hopes that his users will chuck $5 every so often if they do use it a fair bit. The developer, Everett, seems like a great guy and has a huge amount of interaction with his users and is constantly updating. This nearly 300 page thread at KVR is a testament to that: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=482501&start=4425.
  18. This is one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time - I'm assuming it must be a satire. I was particular impressed by the ice hockey pucks mounted on sticks made by Shun Mook that set up a "sonic room boundary". The Shun Mook product page makes for some particularly hilarious reading: Apparently it works because " ... there are so many things that science still do not know and cannot explain." It goes on to explain "With Shun Mook we channel away the bad sounding resonance energy because it cannot be destroyed. Just as you cannot stop a flood with a wall you have to dig a cannel to divert it. In this case we use our diamond tipped resonators. The diamond crystal being the hardest material on Earth can release the vibration instantly while the ebony wood body acts like a reservoir for the musical energy to excite the resonance energy in its body. Hence this musical energy is feed back into the system while the diamond acts like a mechanical diode – pass the unwanted vibration out one way." You can pick up a Shun Mook Ebony Dowsing Pendulum for $300 (or get the High Energy version for an extra $20). What this is for is anyone's guess. Perhaps you use them to find the best path to lay your $2000 per foot speaker cables to avoid any spots particularly affected by quantum distortions caused by intersecting ley lines. They've got patents on some of this stuff. Can you really get a patent for snake oil in the US?
