  1. It does have cool sounds, including some instruments I don't have, like a soprano sax. I have used low and high strings to good effect also.
  2. Possible, Jim. Originally I started with Windows 98. When I moved to my next computer, it came with Vista 32, so I assumed that's all it was capable of. When I upgraded to Windows 7, I installed the 32 bit version, not realizing my system could actually handle 64 bit (I was still pretty stupid in those days). Eventually I figured out it could indeed handle 64, if I upgraded my memory. About 5 years ago I got my current rig. I have ported over all my projects from one machine to the other, so they all started as 32 bit versions. So it could be that the instances of TTS-1 are all 32 bit. And I am now attempting to load 32 bit versions on a 64 bit system . I will check into this, hopefully you are on to something here. By the way, was there ever a TTS-2? Just wondering.
  3. I use the 44 sampling rate, which I believe is default? I don't change that. So that is not the problem. Old projects also using that. But now I wonder, should I use a different rate? Would my music sound better?
  4. I haven't been able to use TTS-1 in any projects since migrating to CbB. (I'm using the version right before the latest update). I had basically given up on it. Last night I loaded up some old projects from a CD I had them saved on. The TTS-1 instruments worked, although there were some crashes. But I was able to get them all working. Can't figure out why it loads and works on old projects, but if I try to introduce it into new ones, the project crashes. But if I can figure it out, with a little help from my friends, maybe I can start using it again. It's always good to have a decent general midi set. you never know when you might need it. Thanks, Michael
  5. I looked at the documentation, Bob. As usual, nothing said about using it in staff view. Why am I not surprised... Yes Bandlab, there are people who use staff view. Still.
  6. My wish is to be able to have "Select" be the default, and then manually choose which tool I want. As it is I have to choose "select" when I open a project. I like select to be default because I do a lot of work in staff view, and I select groups of notes to cut and paste, change velocity on, transpose etc. But it's not a big deal. But it seems it would be the logical thing to do.
  7. "Yeah, Windows/Cakewalk do not handle moving USB MIDI devices well." (David Baay). Man is that ever true. Twice I have had to reinstall Windows because I unplugged an external hard drive with windows running (forgot to "safely" eject it). Windows would only tell me there was a problem with a removable device, but there was no way that I could find at least, to fix it, so I had to reinstall. Twice. with all the peripherals and plugins and libraries (not to mention those lovely windows updates), it took me several days each time. You need to be extremely careful unplugging things, at least with Windows 7.
  8. I'm having a problem with the select tool in staff view. Suddenly today it decided to become a move tool instead of a select tool, even though I have the select tool chosen. Sometimes I can get it behave if I am deliberate enough in how I select or lasso notes. Very weird.
  9. This thread really highlights the fact that there are many different workflows in DAWS. I didn't even know this function was broken, since I never had used it!
  10. What I do is left-click to highlight, then do whatever operation I need to do. For example, to change the velocity of several notes, I left-click to select the notes (while holding the shift key down, unless they're all in a line), then I hit V on my keyboard (which I have set up as a shortcut for velocity), then make the change. Same for length. I haven't experienced the problem you're talking about.
  11. Actually, I'm not sure that will do it. Unfortunately I'm not at my music computer to check, but see if there is an option to "bounce to notes." In the same place, top left of track view.
  12. Try highlighting the track, then under "clips" in Track view (at top left) choose bounce to clips.
  13. OK, I installed build 79, so far all is well. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I do see some other benefits, like notes being available in staff view for inserting, rather than at the top of the screen, and clicking in staff view to un-highlight things is easier, so I hope I can continue to use this build. It's ah, well built, I would say.
  14. I am willing to try again. If I download the latest version, will it include the hot fix, or do I have to add that in after? Also, the only enhancement that actually benefited me was the track name being colored. It does help in finding the instruments you want when you have 40-50- midi inst's going. I don't do audio, and I'm guessing that most new features and such are geared toward audio/live users, vocals, etc.
  15. Well it's eight days later and I had to roll back to the old April 2018 version. I could not open any cakewalk projects, or even Cakewalk alone. Nothing would open. No error messages or any kind of feedback, just nothing happened when I tried to open. I guess I'll continue with the old version, as long as it keeps working.
  16. I close CbB down every night, but only put my computer to sleep. It opens fast the next day. If I shut my computer down, it takes considerably longer, as I have multiple orchestral libraries. I don't know why you would want to keep CbB projects open overnight. There is no good reason to do that.
  17. Uh, someone did buy Cakewalk. They're called Bandlab. you're a bit out of the loop, friend!
  18. Well, I got curious, decided to see what was up. I downloaded latest Bandlab Assistant, just to see what Cakewalk version would be available, and somehow I installed it. I can tell because there is more color. I was actually using it before I knew I had updated. So far it seems to be running fine. If it continues, so much the better. I always hoped that at Windows 7 EOL in January, that I would have the latest Cakewalk version, to take that into the future as I continue using W7, but offline for safety. We'll see how it goes.

    Printing

You might need to select the material first that you want to print. If you're printing from Staff View, just click the tab or tabs on the left of the instruments you want printed. If that doesn't help, try the manual.
  20. Thanks Jonathon. The problem with the updated version (I forget which one it was but it was quite recent) was that it would simply freeze and I would need to restart. I am aware of W7 EOL in January. I plan to keep my music rig offline after that. I actually do that now, going online only occasionally. I use Linux for everyday web stuff. The only problem will be when I need to download something. I'll just have to risk it. Could do it in virtual box inside Linux, that would be totally safe. Many people plan to stay with W7. And even go online routinely with it. most of security comes down to being careful where you go and what you click. Many folks ares still using XP. Entire businesses! Also, I'm in my late 60's and I probably will only be doing music another 10 years or so. I'll just make do with what I have. The days of keeping up with the Jones's are over for me.
  21. I don't know if I should try this or not. I'm using an old version, from April 2018. I've updated and found it not to be as stable, so I rolled back. One of my concerns is that, since I plan top stay with Windows 7 forever, newer versions may not work as well, as the devs will no doubt be focusing on Windows 10. Also, I don't know how I would even be able to try it as my version is so old.
  22. What, you expect to just get it for free?😉
  23. With programs like Cakewalk, the idea is to optimize performance. Running it in a virtual system, for example, is going in the opposite direction. Not worth it. If you go to Apple you'll have to use Logic or some other program that works on that system. I agree that Apple seems to create that obnoxious fanboy thing. It's so untrue as to be laughable.
