  1. You know that giant, disc devouring product we tricked you into buying at a level far beyond your needs because we didn't offer the more reasonable (price and size) versions? Well we've made it 39GB larger. Your welcome. Oh and it won't be in your account yet, even though we sent you email about it.
  2. They may have changed it but when I registered the link you get just opens the page but you have to enter the activation code yourself (maybe they fixed this?). The code is in the blurb box on Page 3 of the magazine at the end.
  3. The new issue of Beat magazine has Tracktion RetroMod LoFreq Wired included. It's normally $79 https://www.tracktion.com/products/retromod (It's just the LoFreq Wired synth from the collection, doesn't include the others). It's a sampled bass synth basically. (pun somewhat intended) I got it from my Readly subscription (which includes both Beat German and US). The German issue is out now, but with some Google Translate you can easily register this. The words you need from the magazine are all company names. To get this you have to register on the Beat serial website (need to enter a word from the magazine for that) but all that gives you is a link to the sign up page (they email it to you). You can download the software from the Beat website (link is in the mag and it needs another word from the magazine). The Tracktion sign up page has a access code that is in the magazine (yes it's generic, but I'm not posting it) and it will register the synth in your account. You can then use the download manager to get the presets that go with it (the installer they let you download has no presets/content). I suspect you could skip getting the software from Beat and just get the whole thing from Tracktion download manager. The installer is kind of crappy. It always installs the VST2 plugin into c:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins I had to move the DLL to my VST2 directory. You auth it with your Tracktion account. Is it worth all these hoops? Most likely not to be honest. But I guess it's a deal.
  4. I didn't get anything but that's because I almost never buy anything direct, 3rd party retailers are almost always better and offer the same sales.
  5. They quickly sent me download serials for a 1.1 updated version which fixes the Kontakt 6 problem (and Kontakt 5, it's effect panel wasn't right before either). Oddly enough this update isn't listed on 8dio's updates page: https://8dio.com/product-updates/
  6. I have the Steel String version of this, but it doesn't seem to work right (the UI is all goofy) in Kontakt 6. I even re-downloaded it. I really wish 8dio would do something about updates.
  7. I guess Pulse doesn't update itself or even check for updates. I saw a forum post from them saying the hanging was a result of having an older Pulse download. So update your Pulse downloader before you try getting this otherwise it will hang on installing and never finish. Still hearing the bell sound on the G3 note. Maybe it's just me, I can't seem to see it in the waveform but it's there.
  8. Pulse hung unraring it for me. Seemed to be stuck on the 14th file in the set. It just kept processing it over and over and over again. Wouldn't continue. Killed it and unrar'ed it with Winrar with no problems. Might have just been my luck or perhaps some Windows thing. I hear a strange after tone/bell sound on one note in the Full Ensemble Con Sordino instrument that seems kind of odd. Note G3 (on the Kontakt mapping editor) It's easier to hear with headphones. Very strange.
  9. Looks good for me, all the strings I tested worked right with BBCSO Pro (which I think has the same articulations as Core). Still need to test the others though and assign this to every track in the template. But this is most of the (painful) work. Thanks!
  10. A few years ago I decided to fast from buying Music products for one whole month, a Feb or March (so after the holiday rush). I made it through the month, but then ended up spending far more the next month catching up with sales that were still in effect/etc. I think it would be better for me to focus on really using the things I buy. Or even better, using the things I've already bought.
  11. I have Cakewalk set so MIDI is mapped -2, so your key shows up as E - 2. Which means none of the keys match the keys in BBCSO, at least not by name. For the articulation maps I believe what really counts is the number [4] which is the MIDI note that is being sent. BBCSO says E0 but the MIDI note value it seems to want for that (by default) is 16. Spiccato is MIDI note 4, which is what I get when I use your articulation map. While the note names can be adjusted with the preferences (and the switches adjusted in BBCSO), the actual keyswitch values they are showing in the BBCSO interface don't match. To match the BBCSO interface you have to set Cakewalk to Base Octave for Pitches -1: I suspect you have your set to 0. And mine is at -2. When you have Cakewalk set to -1 your Tremelo Sul Pont looks like this: It always sends MIDI note 4, but that's not the right note for BBCSO.
  12. I gave your articulations a try but all the keyswitches seem to line up differently than what I'm seeing assigned when I load virgin Violins 1. For example your map has Tremelo Sul Pont as E -2 [4] but my BBCSO loads that in as E0 (inside BCCSO) but on my -2 based Piano Roll that's an E-1. Maybe your keyswitches are off an octave? Is that perhaps something to do with the instrument (keyswitches move based on the range of instrument?) or being Pro?
  13. When I load BBCSO Pro in as an instrument it appears to have a default key mapping for every instrument. I'd think it would be best to just target that. I don't think the Spitfire Audio plugin supports the CC on a single key UACC KS mode that the Babylonwaves uses for the Kontakt instruments. Keyswitching is about the only real choice, using whatever the defaults are (I think it's everything starts at C-1). I thought Cakewalk's articulation maps are just JSON/XML text files. It might be possible to edit them using text editors rather than having to create them inside Cakewalk. That way you can't lose any work and can easilly duplicate setups for multiple instruments/etc.
  14. My worst purchase was most likely Fl Studio's All Plugins upgrade. I got FL Studio in the charity auction (so that was good) and shortly later (I had barely installed FL Studio after the Halloween Auction) they started offering a big discount on the upgrade to the All Plugins version. Like an idiot I didn't read the fine print that they had removed the VST versions from the All Plugins as part of this "sale". Not the end of the world, but it sure has soured my impression of Image-Line. Also drives home the fact I really don't need/won't use all these DAWs. Now that Cakewalk has articulations I'm not even using Nuendo/Cubase very much anymore.
  15. When I built these templates Cakewalk didn't have an articulation manager. So the short answer is, yes, adding that to these templates would be awesome. The problem is it's 56 instruments with a lot of articulations each. Even if you use someone else's articulation maps (So you don't have to do all that work) you still will have to load and assign them to each track. It's a fair bit of work, even taking every short cut you can manage.
  16. Honestly: Sabrent 4TB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 Internal SSD High Performance Solid State Drive (SB-ROCKET-4TB) And now I'm considering filling my second NVMe slot with this: Sabrent Rocket Q 8TB NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 Internal SSD High Performance Solid State Drive R/W 3300/2900MB/s (SB-RKTQ-8TB)
  17. Their plugin has started crashing a bunch of my DAWs on start/scan. I'm just uninstalling all of it.
  18. So I send 8Dio an email and they added the 1.3 version of Anthology to my account and the four legacy Adagio libraries. The 1.3 update does look like they modified a bunch of things (I diffed it against 1.2) fixed issues/etc but it does require a full new download (they changed the samples) and they changed how the .nki files are too. The Legacy Adagio is interesting. I didn't have any of these four(just the cheaper Agitato and Adagietto libraries). Comparing these to the newer, the older ones are definitely noisier and not as clean. There are also a bunch of odd/different articulations that appears to have been removed with the reorganization. These legacy libraries take 76.7GB of disc space though. Which is kind of expensive.
  19. Using tools like ProcMon can be tricky and lead you no where. Usually a crash dump is better but sometimes the crash is so bad the code that collects the dump can't work, so you don't even get a dump. The ProcMon filter trick also doesn't work so well with bitbridged plugins (the 32 bit plugin is loaded in another process).
  20. A filter like this would only show entries from Cakewalk that the path ends in .dll or .vst3 (so it would just list the DLL's cakewalk loads) The last thing it loads before it crashes is at least suspect #1. You could also add lines so the path has start with your plugin directory (since Cakewalk loads DLL's from everywhere). It's not 100% accurate but it does let you look at what Cakewalk is doing just before it dies (without having to install a run a real debugger).
  21. Use Sysinternals ProcMon setup to filter on cakewalk.exe and just show the file system activity . Start it up and load the project. You'll be able to see the last plugin it loaded just before it crashed. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/procmon You could also add a filter for the path starting with your plugin directory (and/or the VST3 plugin directory) or maybe filter on path ending with .dll or .vst3 Might help you narrow it down. If someone said to me this was happening on a bunch of old project and asked me to guess what it was I'd suspect they are/were using Prochannel Softube plugins, cause those are all kind of broken, if you have updated.
  22. There is a website https://steamdb.info/ that will give you stats on your Steam collection. This morning here's my status: So 2662 games. Only 11 of which I've played more than 12 hours. GAS isn't just for plugins.
  23. It's a good deal. You may never actually use it though, but that doesn't mean it isn't a good library at a good price. I'm just debating if I want to contact 8dio and get the legacy versions added to my account. Also I think I only have Anthology 1.2.2 and I think it's up to 1.3. I guess I have to contact them about that too. I wish they would do something about updates, would be nice if they would tell me and help me update anything not updated. Right now 8Dio is taking up 451GB of disc space for me. Not sure I really want to spend more disc space for the legacy stuff.
  24. It's time to announce the winners of our Winter giveaway for the Op-1 synthesizer and $10,000 in SoundMorph prizes. Want to find out if you won? Come check our contest page to see. https://www.soundmorph.com/page/2/winter-2020-giveaway Didn't win? Don't be too bummed, we are having our last big 50% off sale, just use code: SantaMorph I'm pretty fond of these guys (so much so I just upgraded my account to the Universe Bundle). I really love how they give you credit for everything you've bought when buying/pricing bundles. They also have some of the best UI and weapon sound effects around. And some interesting sound effect plugins and Reaktor instruments if you are into making sounds. They have a bunch of free samples as well and the DR01D sound effect plugin is also free. I'm not sure how long the 50% sale is on.
  25. Yes. Just get them added to your account, you can download/re-download them when ever you want. Epic is giving away a game every day starting at 11am Eastern for 24 hours.
