  1. In order to make instruments appear in the panel, you need a license so that you can 'wrap them up'. The instruments that you open from the file browser are like opening up the instrument 'project' that they've been working on. A very rough analogy would be like a .zip file - you can 'wrap it up' and turn it into a self extracting .exe, or you can leave it as a .zip file (in which case you need a copy of WinZip/7zip/etc. to open it).
  2. Changed my mind - it's quite a good offer, as you can get multiple sale items with it, e.g. I could get two $29.99 plugins for $19.49 each.
  3. Already picked that one up earlier - GAS is a terrible thing.

    Happy New Year!

    Happy New Year everyone!
  5. Good point... Mental note to self: read and actually process the minimum spend requirements. Oh well... stuff to add to the long term 'maybe' wishlist. I already have enough compressors, and I spent too much last year anyway.
  6. Trying to decide what to go with... Any thoughts on bx_panEQ? Looks like it might be quite useful. Either that, or I could go with another compressor (e.g. ACME Opticom XLA-3 or Lindell 254E) - I have loads of compressors already though.
  7. Both. You didn't buy a better item, so it's your best; you didn't buy an item that was worse, so it's also your worst. What was it?
  8. I'm guessing a launch price of around $349-$399; for loyal customers, there will be a limited-time crossgrade pricing of $249-$299
  9. No 4K monitor on the list of studio upgrades then? 😁
  10. Absolutely! And with most people saying 2020 is a year to forget, we can 'forget' the guilt of buying them and just be pleasantly surprised by the cool new toy/s in the synth collection 😜
  11. Good to hear. That said, I don't think I've seen as good a deal on them as they currently are at NI (lasting for just a few more days).
  12. I seem to remember this was part of a special giveaway, where instruments in their rarity series would be hidden, and free if you could find them - did anyone find any other than the Xaxophone?
  13. Hey @Peter - IK Multimedia, genuine question - has IK considered using a third party service such as Continuata Connect, or Pulse Downloader for larger files?
  14. By all means go with the touch monitor (if you don't mind fingerprints on your screen), but I would highly recommend a physical device as well. When working on something, I often keep one hand on the mouse, one hand on the Faderport to control transport. Being able to rest my hand on the controls, feel around for them (my eyes are on the screen), and press them only when I want to is a boost for my workflow. Another thing to consider (with motorised faders) is that they will move with the automation: if you need to re-record part of your fader control, you know exactly what level it's at and have less chance of having a 'jump' in your automation. Also, a typical onscreen fader isn't that high (to allow for sends, panning, etc. to be displayed); a control surface might have around 10cm give or take, meaning that you'll have finer control. Of course, YMMV, etc...
  15. Hmm... Black Box Analog Design HG-2 and ACME Audio Opticom XLA-3 look interesting. Any advice (even if it's to just use the saturators/optical compressors I already have)?
  16. Does this mean you can't buy directly from Softube, or that you won't be able to get any Softube software (even through a reseller)? [though I suspect it probably equates to the same thing]
  17. Great video Reid. You made a good point about timing. Earlier this year, there was a library on sale at APD. The library itself had two versions - one for Halion Player, and one for Omnisphere; only the Halion Player version was on sale. I wasn't too keen on installing Halion Player as this would be the only library I would have, so I emailed the developer to ask whether they'd be willing to sell me the Omnisphere version at the same price. They declined as it was a newer release, so I thought I'd just wait until a sale, maybe Black Friday. Black Friday eventually came, and there were loads of other offers going on, including one for a different pad tool that was a little more advanced; I ended up going for that instead, as even though it ended up costing a bit more, I think it was better suited for what I wanted.

    Loot Audio Kaluri

Had a quick listen to the demo; sounds cool. Reminds me of Slavic libraries like ISW Vocalisa and Strezov's Rhodope 2.
  19. Downloaded a demo and it seems pretty cool. In the 4x4 echoes grid on the left, there seems to be a square where the border is lit up in a lighter blue and it seems to move along. Does anyone know what it represents? I tried to look for a manual, but couldn't find one.
  20. A wise strategy, showing why you're the King of Deals! Ultimately for me personally, I wanted a control surface at the time; the FaderPort seemed to be the best option for me, and I went with the DAW that had the best support for it.
  21. Sorry - I thought there was an all-in-one bundle, or if there is one, I couldn't find it
