  1. Feeling sad for his fan base :’-( even sadder for those who donated.
  2. Obviously those who bought an ARM based Mac made an informed decision and if anyone was against Apple changing CPU architecture already voted with their feet. Most developers of all kinds of software ported their software to ARM architecture. A minority of developers are dragging their feet. Strange coincidence that Francisco Partners SoundUltraMegaWide plugin developers are sort of in that minority and they have all that fan base that supports their stubbornness to not port their software to new arch. iZotope needed 18 months to port their most used software to M1.
  3. I don’t remember to have mentioned Corel as a positive example. But the very moment when one finds out that even Corel has unlimited number of de-authorizations when PA’s plugins don’t… And as far as I see M1 users avoid incompatible plugins, because they perform slowly under Rosetta. I wouldn’t call that “work perfectly fine”.
  4. Staying outside the fanboyinsm/fangirlism bubble when something has a financial impact on my wallet as buying plugins that should be of some use for me I’d reply with: When a device has its authorization removed it’s removed and that’s it. There are many valid scenarios when one might exceed the 7 device removals limit and then one needs to wait another year or buy another copy for whatever mad reason… My CorelDRAW counts my device as removed when I remove it from my account page. A couple of PA plugins outside a sale cost as much as a lifetime CorelDRAW license. It’s obvious that due to the flawed nature of a hybrid online/semi-offline PA authorization process PA prefers to limit device removals. Of course it’s their own problem - not customer’s fault and one good reason for customers to avoid PA. That’s already been discussed elsewhere and having aliasing artifacts on one’s audio is not a desirable outcome, neither having a developer who ignores such problems. Being a Windows user myself I doubt why should one developer list an OS (MacOS in this case) as fully supported when that’s not the case. That’s alienating Mac users and that’s bad for PA’s business, but does Dirk really care about not alienating his userbase? Great pricing and zero innovation looks to be the very nature of most Francisco Partners affiliated businesses. And Melda is not my first idea to come when thinking about plugins that have good support, but PA is certainly one of the last ones in my list along with iZotope.
  5. IMO PA is a horrible business with an owner with NPD who used to gaslight any forum member who dared to disagree with his “perfection”, PA eventually sold its business to an ever more horrible company that Francisco Partners is. And now there are users brave enough to criticize Mr. Dirk’s attitude to business and I can only agree with them. Be a dirk - own the consequences of being a dirk. My thumbs down are a sign of (more or less) vocal disagreement with using of sealioning techniques to silence the discontent of PA. My own criticism of PA comes next: 1. PA’s plugin activation has limitation of number of removals of devices on which plugins are installed encouraging customers to buy additional licenses. 2. Many PA plugins (with only some small exceptions like Neold and Lindell) are badly designed to be aliasing generators and PA doesn’t seem to care about that. 3. Many plugins on PA’s store never get updated (for M1 support, oversampling etc). 4. PA plugins are heavily overpriced outside the promotions. I would easily spend my money on other developers who care more about improving the quality of their software and don’t excessively push senseless prices and sales which discourage software developers from innovating.
  6. No offline activation- no upgrade to v2 for me.
  7. TBH I’ve only installed VLA-2A Mark II, VLA-3A, VLA-FET and VPRE-73.
  8. Got the All Bundle from BRA’s website. I needed only the LA3A emulation, but I thought that it would be great to support development with the hope that plugins will get their VST3 versions as soon as possible (if developers read the board). I demoed the BRA VLA-3A and Overloud Gem COMP LA, but I liked VLA-3A better. On the other side I still prefer TrackComp 2 emulation of LA-2A, so Overloud’s Gem was the less preferred option. BTW the -$15 code one gets after subscribing to their mailing list doesn’t work for this specific sale, only the EXTRA10 worked.
  9. Updated. 12.0.40 was running fine with my plugin environment under Windows 11 Pro. 12.0.50 running fine as well. Also updated my WaveLab Pro to 11.1.20 a couple of days ago.
  10. I don’t know, I just have that odd feeling. With the current release cycle of Francisco Partners - a new major version each 11 months Neoverb looks like long forgotten to me - 2 years since initial release. For the Insight 2 it’s 3 and 1/3 years. Probably the new investor still sees opportunities for a few more $39/copy Neoverb sales. Certainly if no major version appears within the next 12 months it will be the next app made obsolete by iZotope. The reverbs market looks no less saturated than the vintage eq/compressor market atm. They’re obviously reducing their investments in plugins development as seen by removing the Neutron Advanced tier. Who knows, maybe RX Advanced comes next - therefore its reduced (but still unreasonably high) price.
  11. IZotope’s regular pricing for all their products looked always heavily inflated to me anyway. All their plugins are CPU-heavy. There’s nothing unique about their overhyped products. Trash 2 is a good heavy distortion for the price of $ 10, but still CPU-heavy 😉 I feel free to speculate that the next to be made obsolete are Insight 2, VocalSynth 2, Neoverb and probably Dialogue Match.
  12. Until November 15, save 25% on all individual products in MAAT store with Coupon Code: 25PERCENT-FALL2022 https://www.maat.digital
  13. I could only agree with you on this. In my case it’s just out of pure enthusiasm to explore different alternatives while helping a friend with her podcast and most of my work with WaveLab, SL, Acoustica and RX is linked to dialogue. I just find that on some occasions one post tool works a little bit better than the others. Acoustica is a pretty new to me (I got it and Acon Digital DeVerberate on sale). What I see is that Acoustica’s Extract:Dialogue makes good denoise with less artifacts compared to RX Dialogue Isolate. On the other hand I wasn’t that impressed by the DeBird results, but at the absence of alternatives it’s better than nothing Music is only a hobby and I’m mainly using Cubase and Studio One + Fabfilter plugins for the mixing part and WaveLab + Fabfilter for mastering. I’m definitely not a pro (and will never be one, because my job is graphic design). Most of my software and plugins I got on sale or on Knobcloud (can’t invest that much for music production/post software) so I’m just exploring available software until I find something that works best for my needs.
  14. I love them (Acoustica Premium and SL Pro) both, I use them both. At least each new SL version comes with some meaningful improvements in contrast to iZoNope’s RX Advanced I got my SL Pro 6 copy bundled with Sound Forge Pro 14 Suite with a free SL Pro 7 upgrade included. Then upgraded it myself to 8 and then 9 and I didn’t regret it. Upgrades immediately after the release date are always somewhat discounted.
  15. I got the bundle. It’s nice to have Painter updated to 2022. I used to have Painter 2021 purchased from Corel’s website during their sales, 2022 has some functionality enhancements that I needed like moving layers in groups and grayscale in navigator. Thank you for sharing the information about the bundle!
  16. 30% discount on Soundtheory Gullfoss using PE30 as coupon code. Coupon code is valid until Sep 30.
  17. With industry struggling to switch to 32 bit float (24 bit precision), 64 bit float (53 bit precision) looks like nothing else but an overkill. Look, there’s an article in Wired posted just a few months ago encouraging 32 float usage https://www.wired.com/story/32-bit-float-audio-explained/amp EQuilibrium has 64 bit float for ages. MAAT thEQorange Has 80 bit FP since 2021, so Kirchhoff EQ is hardly the first 64 bit float equalizer. As of yet I haven’t heard any sample which could demonstrate that 64 bit float EQs bring better results with less audible noise compared to 32 bit float EQs outside the placebo zone
  18. CorelDRAW is still available as a lifetime license, though it’s no longer possible to upgrade your old version and the one time purchase price is high. Adobe Illustrator is subscription only. Affinity designer is great peace of vector software, still a little bit limited compared to DRAW or Illustrator.
  19. Thankfully I was only experimenting with S1 since last spring (have to admit that I was pretty impressed by the simplicity of the DAW). After all I’m not a professional. Else I would have been anxious enough after reading Fender’s CEO interview. This guy has so little respect for the S1 users. And one of the good things in Studio One IMHO is that it’s not bloated at all, compared to some other DAWs. Sadly Mooney doesn’t realize that. I’m afraid that Fender’s decisions might prevail and S1 team will be overwhelmed having to work on two different projects at the same time and eventually S1 development will slow down to some extent. In each case time will show.
  20. Of course the release happened right after the sale had ended guess why... I don't know why, but it reminds me of the cosmetic updates that were happening to Adobe CC products after Creative Suite support was dropped.
