  1. @Glenn Stanton Thanks for testing ASIO4ALL This verified the 2 possibilities. Either it would behave like ASIO and be right on time or it would behave like WDM and be late. So as reported by others is that Asio4all is really just WDM in a wrapper. Looking at your results they seem worse than what I got using my Realtek sound card without going through asio4all is it you RTL is less with Asio4all? The timing offset is one thing. But RTL is another. Not that I think you could ever get it low enough to be used with on board sound.
  2. Obviously Mike is not an active forum member so unlikely he'll ever see your post, You need to start your own thread and state your issues clearly including system info like your audio interface etc. The more info the faster we can solve your problem. But start a new thread otherwise its a hijack which is confusing.
  3. That's right, Your lucky it's CWP as that's the easiest of all formats to use in the new version. Just open the fines and sort out the few things that might not jive and your audio and MIdi should all be the exact same as when you saved it 15 years ago. As Treesha has said, it will only be any outdated plug ins and possible those were 32 bit anyhow, so good to start with new stuff.
  4. In this video I explain about driver modes and how they work for using an Audio Interface that has ASIO drivers. At the very end I test on Board audio where you will see that my test showed that WASAPI exclusive was by far the best mode for a Realtech driver. I'm just working on a second video that goes into detail about using on board audio.
  5. As a side note to this. You could even do that in the old Home Studio version of Sonar. It’s been built in to the core program for a long time now I mostly have converted all my analog bass tracks to midi for my backing tracks. This way every song is identical so the mix is consistent from song to song. I did this for probably 60 projects. There’s some minor editing always needed but it certainly works.
  6. I use the conversion all the time. You drag and drop the audio to a midi track. Make sure to choose the correct setting.
  7. Oh no. I have a sound craft signature 10 mixer and the driver was sort of ok definitely not as good as Focusrite Tascam or Motu. It’s made by Harman I think Harman is with Korg. but after one year of light occasional use at a few gigs it no longer works. It seems the connection port or possibly the chip inside is fried. This is unacceptable as I’m very careful about gear. I got no where’s on the user forum and with support. you are better off with a proper interface. Mixer interfaces seem iffy It’s a good mixer. The compressor sucked but it was best bang for the buck for channel count ant aux sends. All made in China even though it has British flag on it.
  8. Why I like to have an on off switch on my interface but that is usually the solution
  9. Seems mr twang leaves a trail of threads behind that he doesn’t respond to This is becoming annoying common especially on this Q&A forum
  10. If you had read the release notes for the update you are told that it will ask you to install what you ignored. It’s needed for the way you can now update without the assistant Don’t blame people for not doing it as it seems like a scam. Badly done once again with that pita assistant
  11. Make sure you midi device is checked in preferences /midi /devices as input
  12. You did download the driver? And make sure your master bus didn’t change. Make sure you’re using ASIO and check the audio settings in preferences
  13. I actually tried to test asio4all and had set everything up. But on the 2 computers I used ( no way it was going on my DAW ). I could not get an input from my on board. I tried everything and gave up because why should I bother. I don’t see the point in it anymore as my testing shows WASAPI exclusive will be just fine without having the invasive stuff that comes with asio4all. Another one I tried was this viocemeeter app. It was also invasive. It also did nothing my on board doesn’t already do. There was also a huge noise floor with it. So that’s not on my list of on board options. I’m thinking of making a tutorial on optimized on board sound for recording. I actually have a new respect for it’s limited but free uses.
  14. You didn’t get the humor when I tossed the jug of wasabi in there. Thanks for the clarification. But my point is that if you use ASIO you don’t need to mess around with the offset. That’s what I said at the end. I think there people blindly using the other modes and oblivious to the timing offset function. There’s also a lot who don’t understand why you need to use direct monitoring on most systems.
  15. It might be quicker if you watch some tutorials on basic operations. We have a sub forum here as well as the highly recommended Creative Sauce videos. I also don’t think that it’s a driver issue. Use WASAPI exclusive if you can. It’s next best thing to ASIO. Wonder if you use “save as “ and put the project on a different drive, even external, if it would work.
  16. Looks good in your screen shot. That info is totally the same more or less as all 3 of my interfaces. From what you just said I’m thinking you are recording with your effects turned on. This can cause the sync issues for sure. Especially look ahead effects. I always bypass my effects when tracking audio and midi
  17. Roland make good stuff. But that does bring up the question of whether the drivers are up to date or not for W10 latest version. I have an M Audio fast track pro that works with the early versions of W10 but now the drivers can’t even be installed. So even if the driver download says W10 that might not mean the latest update.
  18. First thing I would try is another interface. Possibly you have a store or friend that would lend you one. Another easy way to test would be to disconnect your interface and use on board sound with WASAPI Exclusive mode As long as your not recording that will be fine.
  19. I guess I've never even noticed that. I only use Console view for mixing. A difference might be that I have 2 monitors so track view is always open and with that the Browser and the synth rack too. Like Gregy I use the synth rack a lot. Multi dock views are on the other monitor and either the PVR or the Console view are always open. There are millions of Cakewalk users and you might be the first person looking for that feature to be added. I think it's better to keep the console view uncluttered as possible. It's already too busy.
  20. clicking that should open the VST GUI. Is this happening for all synth tracks or just that one.
  21. You really need to watch the video I’m making. Just finished editing the audio. Take the rest of the weekend to edit the video part. It is Tutorial on latency. My guess is that your not using ASIO and if you are I think Bitflipper is thinking what I’m thinking about your Latency adjustment
  22. No you don't work with CWP files, you Export your master and then you top and tail. What people are telling you to do is to delete the material you don't want then drag the whole song to the starting point. This is a receipt for disaster in Cakewalk if you don't set things right. It works if the song is simple with no automation etc. So best to not worry about the song at the project level and export it and deal with the master as a wave file. I'm just not a fan of using Cakewalk for mastering when wave editors are easily available with a better workflow. Example just a month ago I created a new Cakewalk project for Mastering an album of songs. My goal was to make every songs dynamics and overall sound even. You put all the goodies on the master bus , drag each rough master to a track. And then solo each song as you work on getting things right etc. The sonic portion of this worked just fine and I got things very close to perfect but the export of each track was the downside. It was not hard to drag each track to the starting point but it was never precise like in a wave editor. And every song had a way different amount of space at the end so the exports still needed trimming in a wave editor. Ya I know there are work around to fixing this but it just is clunky and time consuming the wave editor does it in seconds. Not only that I can check the file has no overs or errors.
  23. I think there are at least 3 threads running right now with the Laptop blues. They either work or don't. You shouldn't have to screw around so much just to record audio and on todays machines there seems to be fewer of these types of posts. When there are, it's a laptop.
  24. In your screen shot I see an instrument track with SI drums and some midi data it looks like it is set properly Your guitar track looks like you are in recording standby but your signal is to hot so your going over turn down the gain on your interface only your interface can adjust recording levels Download the latest ASIO drivers for you interface otherwise your tracks won’t sync up properly There are lots of good tutorials on basic set up of Cakewalk try the ones from Creative Sauce first Not sure which M Box you have but on the support web site looks like last driver update was either 2011 or 2014. So chances are that your going to have issues. Time for a new interface. I have the Fast Track Pro of similar vintage and the drivers won't even load into W10.
