Yews - Lots of useful Cal functions that should be part of the DAW ! ☺️....hellooo humanise function !

Hi Will ☺️ You can actually kind of do this already without splitting the clips - think I may have got the info from an older thread but it's super handy 1. Press C - this will place the track in "clip automation" mode ( I think this is default binding ?? ) 2. Make your selection as normal 3. Click and drag down from the header bar Bingo !..no need to split the clips - I hope you like it and this helps you out ☺️
-
It's a good notion but not always true as it depends on the genre. Hip Hop for example often relies on clipping the drums for more punch and aggression. So very much horses for courses ☺️
-
The real thing is better but not everyone has one or can play ☺️
-
You can always put a limiter at the end of the signal path ☺️

Thank you , that makes more sense now. ☺️ Maybe if it had the word 'override' in the tooltip it would be clearer ? It's a subtle distinction - I thought I saw somewhere that the two could be de-coupled but I am not so sure how/ where I saw it now ?

Aha ! ☺️ Thank you @scook it works now This had already crossed my mind so I had turned off the Snap in the PRV itself - It hadn't occurred to me I may need to turn it off in the track view ? ( I work on 2 screens so the PRV is on another monitor entirely ) Do you agree it would make more sense for it to be linked to the PRV Snap setting rather than the Track View Snap ? I could make a Feature Request if people think it's a good idea ?

Could anyone please help ☺️ I played this part using a flute type instrument which sounds much more realistic if you use the Mod Wheel to control expression. However when I wanted to finesse the CC1 data in a the PRV using the Draw tool I seemed to lose most of the 'nodes' or whatever you might call them ? It seems to only leave one CC value per note if you go over it with the Draw tool ? But as you can see you need to multiple points of CC1 per note for it to sound realistic. I assumed I would be able to flow over it with the pen and get the CC 'shape' I wanted but all it does is remove most of the data Does anyone know if there is a way of doing it. I ended up doing it meticulously on bit at a time which was very time consuming ?

I can sympathize Dave - You would think they would be pretty plug and play these days but they're not in my experience ! ( maybe it's different for other DAWs IDK ?? I read that the new Pro models have a preset built in for lots of Daws but not Cakewalk ) I haven't got the Pro version but I do have the normal Oxygen 49 keys and honestly I kinda gave up on it doing any more than the basics, it works as a keyboard and it works for the transport controls but I could never really get anything else working that well/intuitively and I decided after a while that the sliders and buttons were not really much use as i find it's a lot easier to navigate Cakewalk with the mouse and keyboard. I don't even bother with the transport now , it's closer to hit the space bar ! The knobs and sliders DO come in handy for certain plugins though if they have midi CC learn and you can bind them to it...I find that useful, but not so good to drive Cakewalk with. There are some controllers out there that integrate a lot more tightly with other DAWs and there are come good comparisons on the Youtube Channel called Sanjay C but in Cakewalk land we seem to have been left to figure it out somewhat ☺️

Have you tried using the " What You Hear " option ? ☺️ -
Groove Clip Looping Occasional Problem
Mark Morgon-Shaw replied to Dave Oliffe's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I think Cakewalk gets confused as to how many beats per bar - I often find it thinks there are twice as many - or half as many, at least you can tell it in the the clip Inspector ☺️ -
Yes same melody or chords would be triggered in this case. But when it happened to me it was an articulation command not an actual note that was part of the musical performance causing the phantom playing☺️ So could be heard as a " stuck " note in another track even though it was entirely inaudible in the other. Switching everything else off in the Synth Rack will rule that one out for certain. We cannot be sure. It could even be a poltergeist ?...or a stuck key on the controller...many things are possible ... it's just a process of elimination really.
-
This happened to me once before and it was eventually discovered to be another VSTi in the project that was outputting midi and triggering other instruments - so as MSMcleod says it might be worth going into the synth rack and disabling everything
-
Yes I do that now already - I was thinking about it as more of a tool for writing extra parts or experimenting with them at least ☺️
-
I don't think that you can do this very easily - You may just have to manually split them manually after you have played them in. I suppose if you have a midi keyboard that allowed some sort of split where one zone was on a certain channel and zone 2 on another..that would work in theory but it may need some looking into ☺️

Very excellent track Dave ! I am thinking a couple of your reviewers have not listened to the charts lately ?? ! ☺️ Dream Pop is real and this song sounds just like it - Best track I have listened to today - Keep it up !
-
Yes that's what it's used for in Studio One as well..very handy ! In Cakewalk I have to leave a space and then I use the far end of my project to use for the same sort of thing - It's a bit of a workaround as you do have have to go back and do some housekeeping towards the end so it would be nice to has this type of feature - Good call ! ☺️ Here is the S1 feature in action
-
I think this is a good idea, it sounds similar to the scratchpads in StudioOne ☺️

Time For New Computer? Or Can I Make This Work?
Mark Morgon-Shaw replied to BradAllenMusic's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Oh wow I didn't think anyone was still running V9 I had Pro Audio 9 back in the day but that was like 20 years ago , can't even remember what it was like now. Things have moved on so much I would just buy a new PC and get your free copy of CBB As to what to buy depends on your budget and what you need it to do ? And whether you are happy to build your own or want off the shelf. -

Don''t those binding , unbind themselves if you close the project ?
