  1. Either way should work. Try it. You can always Ctrl+Z if the results aren't good.
  2. FWIW, "Splitting" clips actually copies and pastes the original so that you now have 2 identical clips with slipped ends hiding the data before/after the split point. Dragging the clip ends back out to their original positions reveals the hidden data. Nothing is altered, hindered, changed or otherwise affected by the split. This is why it's wise to "bounce" split clips before applying additional editing. Splitting & end slipping are non-destructive. "Bouncing" is destructive but reversable with Ctrl+Z.
  3. Maybe 'cause people keep asking where they are?? Some also don't know "Lenses" are "Workspaces". Cakewalk likes to put folders all over the place. I'd like to see every Cakewalk related folder listed in Preferences. As long as they are, I should have no confusion about where to look for stuff. I hate confusion. It confuses me! Apparently some presets are stored in Registry, which makes no sense to me.
  4. Maybe this folder could be added to Preferences >File >Folder Locations.
  5. https://www.magix.com/us/music-editing/sound-forge/ $40 -$150
  6. Zackly what I figured and what I've been doing. Thanks for confirming.
  7. Opening all older projects containing BREVERB causes CbB to crash upon "Preparing Project". This may be due to differences in the original BREVERB and the current CbB version? I have to open the projects in SAFE mode and say NO to BREVERB, then re insert it and guess at what settings I used back when.
  8. I kinda forgot about this as it hasn't happened since the OP, so thanks for responding. This flag came out of nowhere for no reason I can find. I do everything you guys mention and haven't changed anything except to add a new Mackie ASIO interface. When this happened I still had Behringer ASIO drivers installed which I suppose could have confused CbB somehow, even tho they weren't listed in Preferences. I've since removed them and so far no more issues. If it was a legitimate flag, it should have happened when CbB was launched, not 1 hour into playing a project.
  9. Especially because... when right-clicking a CV track to make it "Narrow", but you unknowingly hit "Hide track" instead and it's POOF! gone.
  10. That was my thought but thought I'd ask as it doesn't seem like something to far-fetched for, at least the standalone, to accomplish.
  11. Like you can with Process > Apply Effect > Reverse in CbB?
  12. UPDATE 3: Something happened and it no longer works in compatibility mode.
  13. I always use Search first, which may or may not bring me to the ToC.
  14. Yes. The Preferences window acts as an editor. This is for the INI file located in C:\Users\spjoe\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core and not the one located in C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core. Not sure why there's 2. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=INI_Files.2.html
  15. ^^ here ^^ or ^^ here ^^.
  16. So you're saying we should "unfriend" friendly names?! Mackie's unfriendly names are too long for CV to display so it would be nice if we could retain and edit their nomenclature with Friendly Names instead of Friendly Names changing the nomenclature completely.
  17. Your screenshot is for AUD.INI under Preferences > Audio > Configuration File Cakewalk.INI is under Preferences > File > Initialization File Nice that AUD.INI can be opened directly from Preferences
  18. There is... ME! I tend to have a disrupting affect on all electronics as well. ... like having to reset the TV remote several times a day.
  19. For my 90s synth it's called the OFF switch. It loves sticky notes so I'm constantly flipping the switch off&on to shut it up. CbB "Reset" works 50/50. Thanks, I'll try that one next time.
  20. This continued to happen after closing and reopening CbB and with several different projects. 90% of my project activity is editing. Since Sonar X1, I've encountered a host of unexplained phenomena usually associated with only one project. As time goes on, these phenomena seem to grow more and more bizarre. Spooky stuff this one!
  21. As it should, but in my case the meter is dead. So earlier today when I posted last, it was not working and had not been working since before my 1st post. After reading your replies I tried it again just now in several projects and a new one and it started working, tho intermittently, so I don't know what's going on. Another one for the book, I guess.
  22. Because of this there's no way to gain stage or set levels prior to recording. Is this a new feature, or broken?
  23. BUG: CbB plays notes when transport is stopped! Played an all MIDI project feeding an outboard synth a few times then stopped the transport. While doing something else for a moment, CbB started playing several notes with meter activity repeatedly while transport was still stopped. MIDI track meter continued showing activity when turning OFF the outboard synth. I deleted the track but CbB just moved the wayward note playing to the next track. This eliminated the synth having stuck notes. Bug was within CbB. (buffer issue?) Lowering the MIDI buffer and a system reboot fixed it for now, but this is another one for the book.
