  1. I did last night, but just a little--tweaked the knobs on each to hear differences. Preliminary personal observations: nice to have; might find a use for them; for modeling, maybe someday it will be as useful as Chromaphone 3; the partials display on the Modal module is fun to watch; there were a few manual tweaks that produced some crazy cool sounds, I need to figure out how to automate the changes more; so far, some of the new modules/features were underwhelming probably because I haven't read the manual and played around with them enough. I did create some tweaks that were worth saving to develop further. About the newest Explorations Bundle: I generally don't find the bundles have a whole lot of presets that meet my personal needs; for me they are useful as examples of what some sound designers have done i.e., they show a range of sound design techniques that I can get ideas from for my own presets. Looking at Engine 1 and Engine 2 for uses of the new modal synth engine made it easy to see what others have done and to find examples close to my sonic interests that I could play around with and explore the new engine.
  2. THOUGHTS: Having just climbed out of the rabbit hole I have 2 thoughts: This issue is not similar at all; it is about making use of fluidsynth libraries. There should be a warning to others! ðŸĪŠ
  3. I just found the GitHub page for FluidSynth that seems to have a Win10 zip from 4 days ago. Maybe that will work. ADDENDUM: If you search the forum for "fluidsynth" (scope = Everywhere, not This Topic), there are some discussions of fluidsynth. Not sure it works. NEW INFO: Maybe AZ's build will help. Not sure. No idea if anyone else has gotten the fluidsynth libraries to work. I defer to others with more experience with *.sf2 files or with fluidsynth.
  4. As you might know MIDI data is just data that tells some sort of synthesizer / sound producing device (either a hardware synth / sound module or a software synth) what to do--what notes to turn on, turn off, etc. Maybe on your old computer you used the MS Wavetable Synth or Cakewalk's TTS-1 Synth. The MS Synth hasn't worked in Cakewalk for a while and as of a few months ago Bandlab had to stop including TTS-1 (a Roland product) in the installers. For those of us that have TTS-1 installed from earlier installers, we can still use TTS-1. If you have an older version of SONAR and you install that on a new PC first so you have all of the bundled software synths on your new computer, a new installation of Cakewalk software will pick them up. I don't do much with sf2 files, but there are some players you can get that will work. I am pretty sure there are some fairly recent discussions in the forum about them. Hope this helps.
  5. I had success several times throughout the day downloading and running the most recent [i.e., new] installer from Resources. I never did get ACS to work today. Also, to avoid the error when trying to get the newest Explorations Bundle, I went to the store. That worked, too, whereas the Special Offer button didn't get past a connection error. YMMV. UPDATE: It worked again just now. Windows version - Pigments__6_0_1_5484 UPDATE [2025-01-29]: On an older PC (MoBo doesn't have graphics functions to support the mini-animations), manually installing the new version works. Obviously, if the ASC issues are fixed this work around is not needed. Just checked using ASC: (1) ASC worked [no connection / login issues]; (2) ASC reported that the manual download/installation was successful.
  6. If I knew that this thread would devolve into yet another discussion of the subscription / rent-to-use pricing issue I would not have spent the time to find the link to the differences and tried to be helpful by posting it. To be clear, I don't disagree with many of the points raised, I just wish that this thread had remained focussed on factual "Differences Between Sonar & Cakewalk by Bandlab" per the topic.
  7. From what I can see you only have MIDI Tracks--at least that's all that's showing. Are those pointed to a software synth / Instrument Track that are not visible? If so, are the Soloed MIDI Tracks being routed to the soft synth?
  8. and this comment most likely refers to the following image:
  9. I believe Lord Tim was referring to this image:
  10. Hmmmm. I used to calculate note timings in terms of ticks (generally number of ticks per note durations with attention to note start time tweaks), but I never correlated frames with ticks--until now. At my current settings (probably the default as I haven't changed them), when I use + and - I am seeing 1 frame = 64 ticks. I got sick of micromanaging timings. Not sure I would want even finer gradations to micro-manage millisecond and sample start intervals, but on a purely theoretical level, it might be interesting to try. Well, maybe not interesting in terms of auditory results, but interesting in terms of being hyper focused (i.e., exploring) time on a microscopic [microsonic?] level.
  11. Loss Prevention measure in a store?
  12. Is the SORT BY DATE option not working any more? UPDATE: It looks like our sorting preference gets reset. 😞
  13. Maybe some of the other threads on General Errors will help answer your question. I haven't experienced them myself, but here's a search link that might help: https://discuss.cakewalk.com/search/?&q="general error"&quick=1&item=83740&search_and_or=or&sortby=relevancy
  14. Thanks for the heads up. This time the Syntronik 2.1.2 update was indeed downloaded and installed. 🙂 Thanks to IK for getting this fixed.
  15. Maybe this list / mini guide to new features will help?
  16. Thanks for confirming that. For the record, my comments and the "Too many cooks" comment were submitted at the same time.
  17. The original post just referred to "separate tracks" and then "separate drum tracks." It was also unclear to me what kind of tracks the OP was using / wanted to use. Amberwolf sought to clarify the kind of tracks being used because of the ambiguity. Later on the OP stated: Saying "that's MIDI right?" is ambiguous, too. If "that" = "TTS-1," to me it looks like either the OP doesn't understand something or just responded haphazardly. The way I see it, Amberwold sought to err on the side of clarifying the possible misunderstanding, perhaps for the benefit of the OP, perhaps for the benefit of others. I would say TTS-1 responds to MIDI data, but that's me. Saying TTS-1 is MIDI, says nothing about the tracks being used and the OP did not include an image of the track headers. Unfortunately not everyone communicates as clearly as they could every time. JMO: Clarifications of ambiguities is not a bad thing.
  18. Interesting. With my Roland M-GS64s (which have much in common with the TTS-1), I used to set two adjacent channels (10 and 11 IIRC) to Drum Maps for the same purpose. I can't remember if I tried this strategy with TTS-1. I'll have to make some time to try it.
  19. Honorable Mention (because with the oopsies, I lost track and don't want to risk being off topic--whichever one is current): "Call Any Vegetable" [multiple versions available online including ones featuring Flo and Eddie] - Rutabay-ee-ay-guh, Rutabay-ee-ay-guh, Rutabay-guh 😉 Link to article on Vegetables . Carry on with the current association whatever it is.
  20. I can only guess: (1) Maybe because they only have the rights to archive it, not to reorganize/recode it. (2) Maybe they have limited staffing resources and those are going into making the new products, top notch. I don't have any special insights; those are just some possibilities off the top of my head. I took the question to be, "Why are the old / legacy web pages still there?" Personally I have gone there over the past couple of years and looked stuff up. As I said, it has a wealth of information. I would hate to see it taken down. I have no idea what would be involved in rewriting the old pages, if it is even permitted under the terms of the agreement. Caveat: I used to worry about things I have no control over, too, but in my advanced age I am trying not to worry as much as I used to. Over the past several months I thought I saw a help page that had what you are asking for. I am not as good at finding things I saw previously as I was even a few months ago, but I will look. UPDATE: Try this page. last item on the right side (articles). Nope. That doesn't help. AHA!! FOUND IT!!! It's under the Worriers article: "What happened to the old SONAR? What happens to everything I paid for?"
  21. I could be mistaken, but I think a few years ago you explained to me how even though I didn't "use" screensets they were in use by default. Maybe that was someone else; my memory isn't what it used to be. I'll see if I can find that discussion.
