  1. Is that a typo or are you visiting from the future? Or, maybe since this thread is over 2 years old, you lost a couple of years due to the pandemic? Ho! Ho! Ho!
  2. I KNEW I should have waited before getting into the SYN2GB. :-(
  3. By any chance are you using the Staff View to enter notes? If so, is your prior experience ("paid version") with pre-Skylight versions, that is to say, pre-X1 versions of SONAR? If so, the Staff View is a bit different than what you are used to and it would be worth your while to spend some time understanding and getting practice using the Control Bar's Tools Module and the controls in CbB's version of the Staff View. In any case (Staff View or Piano Roll View), the comments related to whole note snap and snap to grid sound like an excellent place to start looking to account for your inability to place notes any where within a measure.
  4. I am no stranger to speculation myself, so I appreciate your post. BTW, this was from less than a year ago: but TS 3.5 MAX included: So, as you said, who knows?
  5. I thought The Resonator wasn't in the previous Total Studio MAX Bundle because the Samples were owned by someone else.
  6. along with (7): So, thanks for the clarifications, Doug. I'll go with (6) + (7).
  7. This seems to be related to what I was getting at before--when there is a software update to an existing product (e.g., 1.2 to 1.5 for a product without a number) and at the same time a product upgrade (e.g., a product with an implied 1 to a new product numbered 1.5 or 2) it invites customer confusion (possibly leading to dissatisfaction or resentment). Not sure if this is what JT was thinking or if JT had in mind a model like some other companies do--you buy a product for life and when it gets updated/upgraded with new/improved features, you get those. In either case, I think the simultaneous rollout of a software update with a product update contributes to customer confusion (and sometimes ill-will). Let me see if I understand. (I think I do, but sometimes I have found my understandings at odds with what others meant, only to be discovered after-the-fact.) If I have MODO BASS with 14 bass models and I get the free MODO BASS 2 CS, will I have the same 14 bass models that work In MODO BASS 2 but with the new MODO BASS 2 enhancements, patterns, etc.? If so, my choices to get the 8 new bass models seem to be (1) to buy MODO BASS 2 SE (currently $150), or (2) to get the current upgrade to MODO BASS 2 (for $150), or (3) to take the cross-grade deal (currently $200) , or (4) to get the special cross-grade/up-grade DRUM/BASS Bundle (currently starting at $200) , or (5) to purchase individual bass models (currently for $80 each). Obviously, there's also (6) to use the 14 original MODO BASS basses (currently version 1.5.2) with either of my current licenses. Do I have that right? If so, please don't confuse me by adding a new software version (2.0.0) to my current 14-bass version of MODO BASS. If you have to update the software (such as to support purchase of the 8 new basses individually), please make it 1.5.3. If it's called MODO BASS 2.0.0, I won't understand why I don't get the 8 new basses--too much confusion between MODO BASS with version 2.0.0 and MODO BASS 2.
  8. I've had Syntronik 2 Full since less than a week before the SYN2GB was announced. So, I don't need more than the 11 new ones. At present, I have 14 promos available that are useless to me. Wishful Thinking: Wouldn't it be great (as in a 3-way win-win-win scenario) if after the SYN2GB ends and it doesn't go all the way to 33 Instruments, loyal customers (say for example, those who have paid cash to IK of over $300 since first becoming customers) are given an opportunity to gift (i.e., no transfer fee) unused/unneeded promos to other customers to fill in their collections? Gifters win because their duly earned promos don't go to waste; giftees win because they get to round out their collections; IK wins because when new IK synths and bundles come out all customers will have wonderful feelings about IK and will likely spend more money to up-/cross-/max grade to products that include what they already have.
  9. One of my favorite Dylan tunes popularized by someone else. Nice cover here; brings back fond memories of yesterday/year/decade. Have you done covers of other Dylan tunes as made famous by others, e.g., Hendrix's "All Along The Watchtower" (my favorite all-time Dylan cover)?
  10. Speculation: Is it possible that a number of problems including this installation issue have been known for a while and phase 1 of the solution is the amazing GB: $35 ($50 minus $15 in Jam Points) for up to 33 SYN2 Instruments, including 11 new Generation 2 Instruments? Or, maybe its a reward for being Beta Testers and once all the problems are fixed the price will go up? I don't know. I am still trying to understand IK's MO. In either case, I am glad I picked up the 11 new instruments--even with the problems.
  11. Sorry to tell you this but well after I solved the problem on my PC and after I reported the problem to Support, I downloaded the the files again. They were still malformed. I did get a reply with a little video showing me how to fix it--one of two methods I already knew worked. Maybe they fixed it after I reported it? Is that what you mean by it "was fixed shortly after the issues were reported?"
  12. Thanks!! I thought I had it fixed,** but I didn't check all of the Syner-V presets until today and still had the "Instrument ST4 error . . . ." I found the misplaced Sound Content folder in the wrong spot. I looked at the downloaded zip files for Syner-V and sure enough Parts 3 and 4 are malformed. The Sound Content is buried within a second Sound Content folder. This explains why the correct solution is to move them up to the correct Samples folder (the folder that has the other Syner-V parts correctly installed ). PS: I reported this to support. So, when product manager handles the malformed zip files, the second Sound Content folder gets placed into the Samples folder and the Syner-V folder with the sample files themselves doesn't get put into right spot (until we follow Dave's fix). **CORRECTION AND UPDATE [2022-06-01]: Previously I fixed the GS-V issue. So when the Syner-V issue came up, I was actually remembering the GS-V issue/solution. I just downloaded the Syner-V files again. They are still malformed. According to information on the internet, there may also be issues with other Syner-V files.
  13. I had this tonight with the Syner V installation using the IK Product Manager. 2022-05-20 Update: See Dave Schreier's post below. It looks like malformed Syner V *.zip files (Sound Contents) caused the "Instrument ST4 Error." Dave's solution is to move them to the right place.
  14. sysex = System Exclusive. It is a type of MIDI data. It exists so there is a common framework [data structure/format] for manufacturers to have data specific for their unique products/product lines. The sysex spec states the initial and ending byte and the format for the command header. When specific gear receives a sysex command, it should ignore any such commands not intended for that gear. So, if a lengthy command intended for one synth comes along, other gear can ignore it after the product data bytes until the end of the data chain. from a Korg Patch Dump (header and end of file/transmission marker in hex, aka Base 16): I don't use MuseScore so I have no idea how it uses sysex. You'd have to check the MuseScore manual. As for Cakewalk, if you look in the Online Documentation Index and search for "Sysx" (such as by using Ctrl-F for find in a browser search bar), you can read up on how to access system exclusive data/banks/commands in Cakewalk. Also, you might be interested in the full Cakewalk Reference Guide.
  15. OY!!! Are we now going to get post after post based on the original thread from March, just because someone new decided to add their own "I'm done with Cakewalk" rant? If so, I will join in with my own rant. When relationships break up, some people tell all their friends and make the worst case for how bad the partnership was, often blaming the other partner. Other people say to themselves, "It wasn't the right match" and move on. Often those in the second category remain on good terms. OK. Done with rant. Thank you for listening.
  16. First off, I looked on line for Arminator and I found Arminator 2 which is described as being for Windows 32-bit systems. "Arminator 2 is a vsti for 32bits Windows only." It appears to have been made with Synth Edit. Is that what you are using? I have gotten ancient 32-bit soft synths working on my Windows 10 PC in Cakewalk with BitBridge. But Animator 2 causes endless *.sem file not found errors. What I had in mind was to look for a program change command in the event list, but that was assuming it was a current soft synth. But if it uses *.sem files [Synth Edit Modules], the issue might not be so easy to track down. I thought I had test driven other ancient soft synths from Krakli before. I'd have to boot my XP SP3 PC.
  17. UPDATE: See Tom B's post immediately following this post. He has distilled the Product Manager Method to the basic steps so there's no need to consult the manual or the FAQ sheet. Thanks! (I'll have to join the SYN2GB just to try it with the new SYN2 only synths. I think there is, but you'd have to read the Product Manager manual. After several attempts, I found it easier for me to install the content files individually. I know Peter says to use the Product Manager. There's a FAQ sheet that might help. Perhaps you can get to it using the IK Support navigator and choose "Syntronik." It might be covered in FAQ 1423. The FAQ is too busy for me (takes to long to parse), so I just doing it intuitively--probably what you would call a PITA: Find *.zip sound content file(s) for the SYN2 instruments, unzip it/them, run the installer, click the agreement, set the path, etc. I assume that's what you mean by "signal path." For me its much easier than using the Product Manager which involves clicking the dots, etc. IIRC. That didn't work for me. Maybe you can get it to work.
  18. There could be a number of causes. If it were me, I'd start by looking in the MIDI Event List.
  19. 2024-01-27: Image show PRV with hot colors deleted Quick test using arbitrary colours chosen in the Theme Editor. As for transposing, if you want to transpose all notes in a midi track up x number of steps or down x number of steps, you can do that. See the index in either the on-line documentation or the Cakewalk Reference PDF. Footnote: In the image you posted, I don't see any white so since I had no idea what you meant, I just changed a bunch of colors using Cakewalk's Theme Editor. For more information on using the Theme Editor, see the guide put together by Colin Nicholls and posted in this thread. Another option is to change colors via [P]references:
  20. Yup, as an "owner" of Total Studio MAX 2 which included Amplitube 4 MAX, I remember being confused (along with many others here) about the VIR Technology issue when AT5 came out. IK was kind enough to give me Amplitube 5 SE and therefore I got the VIR Technology for out AT4 gear as well as for new gear in AT 5 SE. I don't remember who else would have gotten Amplitube 5 SE at the time, but other "owners" of AT4 might want to check the website under My Products to see if they also got AT5 SE.
  21. CATO looks good! Congrats!! I hope the installation of the others go well (or show up properly if you already installed them), too. BTW, once I get the library paths working, I take a png screen capture and save it--just in case I decide to fiddle with it and muck it up.
  22. From what I can see, you only have one plus a duplicate. I had triplicates a day or two ago for just one of my synths (SYN2, old instrument) due to erroneous paths. I think I had two different paths that had the same content. CATO Saw No Sub is from CS. I solved my issue by fixing what I had for the Library paths. It will probably be different paths than what I have. I used my existing ST3 path for the old stuff. (I had relocated that to an external HDD.) I installed my SYN2 content one by one** on F:\SYN2, an internal SSD--just for IKM Sound Content installation!!! Hope this helps. **I did this while Syntronik 2 was open. When each instrument was installed (one at a time), the software automatically started the rescan. It took longer, but I got to see it in action. I did that for maybe 2 or 3 (maybe 4) instruments, and then I did the rest of my SYN2 content files--still one at at time, just not watching the rescan. I know Peter says to let the Product Manager do it, but I prefer to see as much of the process as I can. Mainly so when it doesn't work, I can take responsibility for re-doing it. BTW, the first time I installed the Syntronik 2 Instruments, (1) I previously had a SYN2_CS folder and a SYN2_SE folder so I could verify what each had and then (2) I excluded those paths when building the SYN2 folder one content file at a time. If you have CATO, you might want to install that alone to a new/unique SYN2 folder and then just have that and your ST3 path in the library. Or you could contact IK Support. As usual, I defer to other users who have experience with installing the SYN2 content for the new instruments. I only have them for the Syntronik2 Full. They should work the same way, but you never know.
  23. Did you check your Library paths?
