I use another PC with MIDIox on it to capture what Cakewalk sends. Maybe what yuou can do is load MIDIox, comment you midi out to your MIDI in, disable MIDI in on Cakewalk and see what MIDIox captures. http://www.midiox.com/ On my system, when cakewalk starts, Cakewalk sends CC122 value 0 on all channels to any external MIDI ports even if there are no MIDI tracks in the startup template. You might want to look for active send commands as well. I can't remember if Cakewalk send these. I create MIDI files that are intended for an external Yamaha external module. When I load these files, any sysex banks that are in the project that are set to “auto” get sent when that project loads. Also, any MIDI tracks with volume, pan and patches set that is set to the external MIDI interface gets sent as well. My PC is configured as per signature.

I use both. I configure Workspaces to not touch Windows layouts. I leave that to screensets - with are saved in the projects themselves. You are right about the “Basic” Workspace. That should not be the default. As you say, should be “none” or “Advanced”
-
Screensets are definitely still present. I use them all the time. You are probably using a Workspace that has Screensets disabled.... Try editing your current workspace to enable Screensets, or set Workspace to “none”

Adding a Chord Pads would be really useful for chord progressions.

Until it is implemented, one way I can think of doing something close to this is with Articulation maps in the PRV. -
Beats me!

Widen the tracks pane.

Pigments is not a vocoder. The Arturia solution is Vocoder V

Rebooted?

Yeah, I wouldn't be either...... Still stick with the web installer.

It could also be that they chose to use the msix installer - which many Windows users (myself included) cannot use. On the Affinity forums, Affinity have indicated that they will include traditional MSI installers at some time in the future - but they did not give a time frame at the time. I actually purchased version 2 of Affinity Photo 2 but asked for (and got) a refund because I can not use msix installers.

If all you need to do is install Cakewalk by Bandlab and keep it activated and updated, then uninstall BA and install Cakewalk using the Cakewalk web installer. https://downloads.bandlab.com/cakewalk/setup/CakewalkSetup.exe Cakewalk can now update and stay activated without needing BA. I have not had BA on my PC for ages. I cannot answer why your Cakewalk core folder would be empty (accept for that CHM file). Maybe an Anti-Malware program went rogue.

Actually, come to think of it, I can see why this question - and the question does make sense. When you stop playback, you sometimes get hanging notes, regardless of where your playback cursor is. Is that right? Does the pressing MIDI panic button while a hanging note is sounding silence those hanging notes?

Is the very first note of your project on the very first measure? -
In the piano roll view with a controller lane visible, add the MIDI Events CC64 > 0 and CC123 > 0 (can be any value really) You could also use the Event list view to add the required MIDI events.

There is a CAL script called "Thin Controller Data.CAL". This deletes every other controller event. That may do the job. I have also written a CAL script that removes any series of controller events that are less than 30 ticks of each other. (first and last of the series of MIDI events are never deleted). The 30 ticks can be changed in the code.

Someone who has this issue should lodge a ticket with Cakewalk support to get this sorted. -
Feature Request: Add Midi Sends and Midi Aux Tracks

Just did a test with midichfilter simultaneously routed to Pigments and Truepianos (that is, 3 tracks). I saved the CbB project file and reloaded a couple of times. Each time the settings, routings and what-not where retained. I was able to play both Pigments and Truepianos at the same time. I even saved the midichfilter SIT as a Track Template. The input settings of the midichfilter SIT where retained, -

Feature Request: Add Midi Sends and Midi Aux Tracks

Until the Bakers do that, one workaround would be to load a Simple Instrument Track of a vsti plugin that functions as a thru (MIDI OUT is a copy of MIDI in data) Then for any destination MIDI tracks, set them to receive MIDI from that vsti plugin. -
This “180 days to download” thing only applies to content like samples. Amplitude 5 max is all effect so you can download this even after 180 days from purchase.

Turning off all input echo via the mix Module also turns off the input echo for Aux Tracks - effectively silencing them. If one has a project with many Aux Tracks, turning them back on is quite a chore (unless you group all of the Aux Track’s input echoes). It would be handy if you can either lock an Aux Track’s input echo to “enabled” on a track by track basis or set it to not be affected when you turn off all input echo via the mix Module.
