Great work. Beautiful. Can I ask what microphones you used? I've only been doing this DAW thing for a little over a year but it really seems that there is no substitute for a really good microphone. I'd probably invest in a couple of great mic's than new instruments, guitars or amps as the difference I've heard is amazing ????

Another very, very good song and interesting production. Maybe a bit less reverb on the drums. The lead guitar is perfect. Nice arrangement touches here and there that keep the song moving and interesting. I'd bring the bass up in certain sections. Vox are great ????
-
Sounds great. I'd bring up the vox a db or so, think of some female backing vox as well, maybe a call and response section. Love the cowbell ????
-
It some times does hit similar musical emotional buttons as Georgy Girl but only in a passing way, not as a foundational motif. Good stuff ????

Thanks Bjorn. Appreciate the kind comments. I think that I've finally developed my listening on how to hear and kind of what to do to create a semi-decent mix. They aren't professional quality like yours and a few of the other artists here, but they are better than the ones I did a year ago. Cheers????

Thanks Grem. The drums are an SI Drum loop in CbB. I loaded it in and then edited the MIDI notes in Piano Roll so it would fit the song ????

Thanks jeff. The harmonica was played live by me on a single track, which I then auxiliary tracked and then EQ'ed both tracks and panned each to create as clear and wide a sound for as I thought was needed ????

Yeah, that is a clean, hypnotic, engaging groove that needs to be expanded into something longer and more musical imho. Really nice work ????

Very enjoyable listen. The inspiration you received and then put into this song is clear. I could spend weeks mixing it so many different ways. The combinations and textures that this piece is capable of being are huge. I'd maybe remove or adjust some of the low ends at certain parts for clarity. Great work ????

Hi Nigel. Enjoyed both the music and images very much. I love that tambourine! First time I've heard one in a song in quite awhile. I may have added some female harmonies on the vox to create some soaring sonic spaces as the words are good and to the point ????
-
Solid sonically (mix, bass, middle, treble). Playing is superb as always. It does sound like a good jam rather than a fully realized song, which is cool ????
-
The second mix is better. Great work. Great production. Great song. One of the best alternative country folk songs I've ever heard. I was getting echoes of The Decemberists (please take that as a compliment ? ) One trick I've learned about violins is to get them to sound as realistic as possible auxiliary track them two or three or more time and adjust the EQ on two or more of them to carve the frequencies you want the end result to sound like ????

I like the song a lot. Steady groove, which is strange because the drums aren't laying a groove beat down, quite the opposite. Your choice of instruments are perfect. The lead vox is good, maybe bring it down a dB, add some harmony vox for more depth. The bass and horns can be brought up a dB or so. Maybe pan the horns to give the song more width. I'd work on balancing all the instruments to get a clearer sonic picture but that's just me. Maybe a tambourine hit here and there....it kind of has a feel similar to The Doors "My Wild Love" which is pretty cool imho. The ending is too abrupt. Really good work Jeff ????

I listened to all of it. Nice work there, interesting throughout. Sounds like something The Future Sound of London would materialize. All mixes are subjective and at the mercy of the YouTube filters. That being said, I think there is room for some sonic carving to bring clarity and depth. Very well done????
-
I listened to Feel. Very impressive. You have a great voice and know how to deliver with it. The production and mix work. I'd change the ending some, happens too fast. Good Luck????
-
Yes, the groove is great, similar to Donald Fagen's "I.G.Y.", but different enough to stand on its own. Everyone did a great job on this????
-
Really enjoyed that. Vox is great. The mix is subjective, all of us would do it in different ways. Your mix isn't bad but could be polished. The percussion work is great ????
