  1. A great reminder. For a free tape emulator, this thing is pretty decent and versatile. Definitely suitable for less subtle tape and really making the effect stand out.
  2. It was tempting.. but the temptation didn't last long until I caved ? They both sound great and I'd be happy with either. Personally I went with X-Comp which at that price is a no brainer.. it came with Antares Choir free too. X-Comp is really nice and I like the high and low frequency bleed options in there, which isn't a common feature on most compressors. The adjustable knee allows for more shaping too. X-Valve Comp is totally worth it as well. I did skip it though, as the saturation is after the compression circuit, which means I can use X-Comp which is more comprehensive and versatile and then simply add another saturation plugin after that. I already own SSL X-Saturator which sits nicely there, but also have plenty of options too. I haven't entirely ruled out getting it anyway, but so far I'm happy with the one I grabbed alone. If AudioDeluxe change their freebie, it could sway me ?
  3. At least with the sales merry-go-round it's safe to say they will all generally be back on sale at some stage soon normally ? A few of the main sales periods aren't far away now.
  4. I tend to reach for Fabfilter ProMB more due to speed and workflow, but 1973 is really nice and sounds great too. I like having both options and on some material it sounds better than ProMB for sure. S73 actually sounds quite good too, even though I don't normally use those style of plugs as I often prefer more manual control. But in its space, it's a good one as well.
  5. I suspect that may not be enough to slow down many of the members on here ?
  6. FreqEcho is a great plugin, especially for free, but it's not really that close at all to Hertzrider. It does allow you to shift, but there's no LFO, envelope and you can't manipulate the left and right channels, unless you used two instances with some additional routing. I wasn't familiar with Echobode, but that looks nice too. From a quick look, that would get you closer, but same with FreqEcho, it doesn't appear to allow you to manipulate the left and right channels separately. That's where Hertzrider shines. You can use it as a basic frequency shifter, add modulation with LFO etc, or use it like a swiss army knife to manipulate the frequencies differently on both left and right channels for greater depth, or creative stereo field movement and manipulation. So it can be used as a tool, or creatively as well. Interesting plugin. ?
  7. He does some pretty great reviews and tutorials and it wouldn't be the first time I've picked up some insights from his videos that helped me pull the trigger on a purchase ?

  9. But then they only get a small picture each, instead of one big picture ?
  10. That's a good point really.. if it's the same price I agree and will normally buy direct from developers.
  11. Yeah their upgrade policy is bizarre.. IMO they would sell a HEAP more software if they counted them for upgrades too.. I can't see any real need to upgrade anything I own from them (which feels almost like I own everything thanks to a previous group buy ?) but that aspect would make them more enticing as a company if I felt the need right now.
  12. IK cops some flack, some of which is definitely deserved, but they're the reigning champions of group buys and giveaway truckloads of software, including some of their newly released plugins and instruments at times. I couldn't rule out TR6 coming out soon, but I can't imagine them discontinuing it given how long it's been around for and how successful it is. And even if they did release TR6, I would definitely not be surprised to see that in a group buy pretty damn soon after its release too ?
  13. Out if curiosity, what's the cheapest it ever gets to? I've seen €99 a number of times.
  14. I've seen this one go on sale quite a few times and didn't quite see much of a need.. turns out I've been sleeping on it! This thing can be used to tweak the sound and fatten like they say, but you can actually get crazy creative with it and abuse it. For $12.46 and the fun I've had in one session and the track I've sketched out while messing with it as a result, it's a total no brainer ? PSP once again, did not disappoint! This was also a handy video covering some more of the LFO and automation etc possibilities:
  15. Same and I'd recommend them and their products pretty regularly... And while I still do rate (and use) their products, I don't praise them as much as... When they were good, i.e. pre merger!
  16. For me I'm not sure they quite balance out, but I can see they would for some people ? As for my wallet.. PA hasn't been getting it, but I've been getting quite a few things from other developers instead during this time, so my wallet still isn't seeing a benefit yet ?
  17. Lurssen and Masterdesk are both quite decent. I would normally just use separate compressors, saturation, EQ, etc but for ease of use and decent results these can get people in the ballpark depending on how good the mix is. I've been pretty wary on Cloudbounce and would likely trust PA's newer online (or desktop version) AI Mastering instead personally.
  18. It depends on the company, but for Plugin Alliance, almost all in that range, or less ? $25 was generally the top if I just wanted something sooner, but that was rare.
  19. That's exactly what I do. There is almost always a sale! There are a few exceptions and I have skipped a few intro prices, only to see the standard price increase and they haven't dipped back that low ever again. But the money saved by waiting in general easily makes up for these couple of plugins. So many RRP are a joke these days, so I largely ignore them.
  20. I'd agree with you there. They broke vouchers which I don't like and the minimum spend means most months I'm not buying anything from them anymore, but the new releases at $31 for things you really want is much better. I'm not normally in a mad rush, as I've got plenty of alternatives, so I was generally happy just waiting 6 to 12 months and get stuff $25 or under, but I do like this $31 for new releases as an option and I'm sure plenty of people are taking advantage of it. I haven't used it yet, but I wouldn't rule it out if there's anything extra special they release.
  21. That's about what I expected, but glad to see it confirmed. That counts me out, as I think at some stage I might crossgrade to the V Collection.
  22. I don't have the previous collection, although I do have the FX Collection 3, Pigments and Lab. The only reason I'd consider this is if it gave a greater discount on the crossgrade to V Collection than what I'd pay for this ?
  23. I've never played a real one, but I will say that IK's Hammond B-3X sounds very good to me and better than any other virtual options I've tried. It's fun to play too.
