Yeah it definitely shouldn't have even been a thing. But I also have a lot of respect for IK for changing that. Installers the majority of them seem to suck. I HATE Softube's. They try and charge $1000 for the Weiss Complete bundle and then are too lazy to even give you options in their installer to stop installing AAX and VST2.! They literally waste a heap of gigabytes and plugin scan times (and sometimes those VST2 /AAX cause issues and crashes during scans) for things I'll never use. I refuse to buy their Volume for that reason alone, as it would reinstall even more every update. The worst part is I don't even need their installer to do more.. I need it literally to do less! Also on a secondary laptop I use that doesn't have much space at times, if I want to update something like Tape, which is only under 100MB, it says there's not enough space until there's around 10GB! It's like they do a space check for every single plugin they make, if you were installing everything at once, instead of just what you're installing 🤣

I'm a bit the same Pat. I collect them like Pokemon, but don't tend to use them (or sometimes even install them!). I've heard a couple are OK and this might be for something different. Hornet on the other hand has some pretty decent plugins in the range. It's easy to overlook them, but some I really like. Totally different quality between those two devs. 2B is another one I just claim and collect though 🤣

Waves basically tried to change the model meaning that everyone that had bought perpetual licenses would never be able to buy, or update them again. Subscription was their only option. It failed horribly for them and was a branding disaster. Their CEO had to backflip 3 days or so later and reverse it and issue a public apology. It was a Waves Fiasco 🤣

You would be best logging in to IK directly and seeing if you have the $100 voucher when upgrading. You should. That should bring it down to $99

You qualify for Maxgrade, which is basically going from any MAX product.

I've never paid WUP and still have one cheap upgrade that I could maybe do if I needed to update, but I'm not sure I would bother either. I do have Horizon, as it was so cheap and a lot cheaper than WUP would cost me!

I think it's generally cheaper getting a custom upgrade quote from Audio Deluxe etc. though.

It really is unless you tap out! They actually do make some half decent plugins though, so it's slightly in jest, but also true 🤣 I really would love to see them drop WUP and sales boost for them for doing the right thing. I think they would gain so many more sales. The recent freebie bundle from them at least shows that while they still probably have their heads firmly stuck in sand, they might at least be open to some change.

Thanks I think it's likely like @Larry Shelby said and for TS4 Max owners, which as you mentioned you are now too. I'd held off getting TS as I wanted to see what got included in the new version.

Thanks Craig, I've heard a couple of people share that same view. I'm inclined to think that might be the way and then jump in to the already anticipated Total Studio 5.5 Max when they get around to updating some of the others! Do you have any favorite captures from Amalgam so I can have a look?

The writing was on the wall, but I was actually a little surprised to see it today. I think just about everyone eventually gets a little burnt by buying and then a better deal gets released. I've been pretty lucky overall, but I've definitely got scars from a few! The great thing is, most of the time a year down the track, you never care and have them to use. Unless you feel the developer, or reseller screwed you over and then I'm completely fine blacklisting them and I'll never buy anything again. I have learnt to ignore statements like 'We'll never discount it' or "Lowest sale price we'll ever do" though!

Interesting to know about the discounts and you sound pretty similar to me.. I'm a bit on the fence really. Mainly because I own so much of it already. Tonex and Pianoverse are somewhat tempting. It would also add a couple of the new MODO Drums and Basses, but I have the original versions and some of the newer individual ones. It would be good to know what people think about the various editions of Tonex. Humble Bundle has SE and that's $30 in total. Obviously it doesn't include as many of the included captures, but are we really missing out on a lot. I have the metal pack for that already as well.

You can use it on everything. It's really configurable. I paid £20 from memory and it's up there with some of the best clean sounding ones, but you can also drive it hard too. Great compressor. He could easily charge more than a lot of the more well known and expensive ones. it's light on CPU, so completely fine across tracks too.

Will be very interesting to see what shows up in your Product Manager, given that until it's on the IK website, it seems we won't know as JRR's description hasn't been updated!
