Create separate stem ( wav ) track side by side from an original track ( midi or Audio )

In reaper one has the ability to right click on a midi track or an audio track with EFX and to create a duplicate stem track while it mutes the original in the process, all within the project.

I dont think CW has this ability from a right click menu? Yes it has freeze the track which is a different thing

So I can see 2 ways as a workaround:

1. Duplicate the original track and them FREEZE the 2nd one

2. Select the original track, go to File, Export - create the wav version of the orig track, then drag drop the resultant wav back into the project in its own track

Is this it? Any other ideas?

Freeze the original track, drag & drop the audio clip to an adjacent (empty)  audio track, unfreeze the original & mute it or continue.

I do that all the time when creating foley or sound effects pieces. Allows me to change parameters or patches in the VSTi & proceed.

This is how I normally do it.

Holding Ctrl / drag makes a copy and holding shift at same time keeps its position on the grid.
