  1. OK, dig up your backup files. The point being that you can find the Rapture installer wherever you have your old Sonar installers. Maybe I should have said that instead.
  2. Regarding headphones, these SENNHEISER HD 6XX from Massdrop are notoriously comfortable and sound really good with little ear fatigue. Highly recommended.
  3. 64bit Rapture came with SonarX2, X3 and Platinum. Dig up those disks and install only Rapture.
  4. The OTS mandolin is the best one out there. It's a little too raspy for my taste (as if the action was too low) so I adjust the dynamics to not allow velocity over 50%. And the tremolo is tempo-locked (which is way too slow for slow tunes), but it otherwise sounds gorgeous. Very good for bluegrass/folk. Nice articulations. I haven't found anything else close (been waiting on you, Amplesound).
  5. I have quite a few bodhran VI's and Red Room's is, by far, the best one in my opinion. There are separate controls for both hands so you can control where the striker hits as well as where the dampening/tuning occurs. Plus, there are quite a few drum sizes to choose from. Very well thought out and very flexible. I have lots of fun with this one.
  6. I wrote a Christmas piece and searched around for the "right" bell sounds, and this one was it!
  7. Does anyone use this and willing to post a short review?
  8. That is pretty darn cool!
  9. Where is it? I went to Waves Central and didn't see any updates for my Mercury installation.
  10. Right-click that button and see if a menu pops up. In some VI's that will indicate what triggers that articulation.
  11. I have had no stability issues with BFD3 on Win11.
  12. So, all the reviews say how good this sounds. But it's a convolutional reverb. With the same IRs, shouldn't they ALL sound the same? For instance, I currently use Waves' IR-L. What would I gain from using this one?
  13. FYI, you can't claim your monthly free plugin when buying this.
  14. According to https://musicsoftwaredeals.com/price-history/string-machine-by-eastwest/ $52.96 from everyplugin.com is the cheapest this has ever been!
  15. There's an entire discussion of this at KVR. The bottom line is Waves uses their proprietary WIR ("Waves IR") format. Someone wrote a utility to covert these to the more universal WAV format. But, as shown in the KVR link, it doesn't work on the most recent WIR versions. So, at the moment, the only thing you can do to use a WIR file in someone else's convolutional reverb is to: make an impulse file (make a 96kbps file that is 6 seconds long, or more depending on how large you want the file, consisting only of a single +1 fullscale sample and the rest are all 0). send that file into the Waves IR of choice at 100% wet, no filters. add gain to the result so the max amplitude is ~-0.1 dB (or closer if you wish). save the result as a *.WAV file. You now have a general format IR of that one Waves reverb that can be used in any convolutional reverb that can import WAV files. I've done this a total of one time...

    BFD 3 $99

Same. I've had no serious issues with BFD,
  17. The Studio Bundle on all these reseller sites says it includes smart:limit and smart:comp. But the Sonible says it includes the newer version smart:comp2. Basically the Studio Bundle includes the Dynamics Bundle + smart:reverb (= Smart Bundle) and the Special EQ Bundle, but not the Metering or Pure Bundles.

    BFD 3 $99

There is now a 3.4.5 Update available. Run the BFD License Manager. No issues for me. Don't Crac{k} still has this for $99. https://store.dontcrack.com/product_info.php?products_id=4010
  19. And if anyone wants to hear Indiginus' Renegade guitar (and Resonator guitar), you can hear them in action here. I also used Amplesound's banjo and upright bass. And there's the OrangeTree Mandolin as well. They make a nice bluegrass ensemble. If I were to add another instrument it would be Indiginus' Fiddle.
  20. Guys, guys.... Be patient. Save your money. Buy the Studio Max bundle when it's on sale and don't worry about it.
  21. I have no issues with the performance of Waves' plugins or their installer. If you're gonna WUP, this is the time. The $240 max drops to $160 thru https://everyplugin.com/waves-upgrades. It's been worth it to me. My problem is I've already spent my allowance on the OTS Stick and those TDR/Softube specials at AudioDeluxe. And now I also have a student discount at https://www.babylonwaves.com/ the expires in 48hrs. And next month's allowance is already allocated to the expected Kontakt sale.
  22. I like the sound of Indiginus' instruments but am often frustrated by the inflexibility of the articulations. Trills and hammer-ons can be selected to follow the scale notes or semitones, which often don't cover all the options I need. For example, while in the key of G for bluegrass, I often need articulations to hit Bb, Eb, F (the minor 3rd of the I, IV, and V chords). You'd think semitones would enable me to hit those, which they do sometimes, but not if I want to slide from Bb to C, for example. There is no one key to get the notes I need. The best way I found to get what I want is to MIDI learn the Master Key and change that on the fly. This works quite well, although it takes some work to figure which key to use to get the interval I want. Also, it was a little tricky to get the mapping from CC value to Master Key. To save someone else some time, I have listed this mapping below. I hope someone finds a use for this besides me. CC Master Values: Key 1-2: C/Am 3-8: C#/Bbm 9-13: D/Bm 14-19: Eb/Cm 20-24: E/C#m 25-30: F/Dm 31-35: F#/Ebm 36-41: G/Em 42-46: Ab/Fm 47-52: A/F#m 53-57: Bb/Gm 58-63: B/G#m 64-69: Cm harm 70-74: C#m harm 75-80: Dm harm 81-85: Ebm harm 86-91: Em harm 92-96: Fm harm 97-102: F#m harm 103-107: Gm harm 108-113: Abm harm 114-118: Am harm 119-124: Bbm harm 125-127: Bm harm
