Thanks for listening and the comment .. means a lot Steve
  3. Thanks guys and your right about the mix ... I'll try out bringing the drum track up and a little fairy dust just to see how it sounds. Many thanks for the comments

OK Wookiee ... Hands up! caught me tapping .. the ONE thing I tell people NOT to do when I'm recording their vocals!! ... and I've been sussed Blast those furry ears .... I put it down to this new mic stand I made and the fact I need a bigger .. much bigger studio 🙄. Stay well mate and thanks for the comments Best Regards Steve
  5. It's really sad .... but musically the song works for the whole concept. The mix felt right as well ( to me ) and I do like it, 'cause it's lyrically great ... just thought it had a sad vibe .....

Much appreciate the input, I agree that strings are an overused pad ... so I don't think it's a stupid quirk but as a very mediocre muso they have a way of covering up a multitude of sins so that's my excuse LOL. Thanks for getting through it and I'm glad you liked it Steve

Thanks John, believe it or not many, many years ago, I ran into Harry Nilsson in a bar by Oxford Circus in London when he was staying at RCA's pent flat ( He was under their banner ) He drank brandy then (Danno if he always drank that or he suckered me) but as one of my all time hero's I've always felt lucky to have met him, although that half hour or so left me brassic for the rest of the month! Of course this has little to do with your input on the song, but it just came to mind as you mentioned him. Many thanks for listening Steve

It never ceases to amaze me when you comment, not only on my stuff, but everyone's. You really understood what I tried to do here and your dead right about the whole work. I did use a Fender base over an artificial synth and the guitar tracks were real with the thinking it sounded ( dare I say) more organic, sorta like a real band would play in a pub. I admit to using a voice live touch for two of the BGV but again 3 tracks were me. I always look out for our comments and appreciate them ( good and bad) ....So thankyou my friend for listening and those observations. All the best Steve

I'm really happy that you managed to listen to each word Bjorn and enjoy the trip, as a words man yourself you can appreciate the time that one spends trying to paint a picture that makes sense of the story you want to tell ... Big thankyou from me 👍

DON'T TOUCH IT !! Very well mixed and the vocal sounds good to me. Lyrics work really well and metered to a tee. If you alter this mix something else will become a pain, there's gonna be conflicts here but if this was one'o'mine I'd be made up for what that's worth ... so thanks ( at last ) for the post . All the best SUPA

Oooh heady days ( and years ) of living and working in London. Your comments on Victoria Embankment and the picture of street singers doing Beatles songs is great to hear ( Might even have been me .. who knows, just depends on how long ago LOL). As regards to old Nashy doing one of my songs, wouldn't that be something ... BTW havn't heard a lot just lately from your good self ? All the best Steve

Thanks Lynn, I am using both Sonar platinum & Cubase 10 for my stuff, as said before in one of my comments, I will often use either an SPL Vitalizer or just lately Cyberlink's Audio director on a completed mixdown, just a tad (bit like salt on a curry) to bring out the sound you noticed and commented on 🤔 ... takes a long time though, and I will redo this 'cause I feel it's not quite right yet, but my thanks again for your time and input as this shows me the time is worth spending. Take care M8 Steve

Thanks Gary, originally it was a poem/verse I was writing and then I wondered if it would work in a song type thing ... for me it does drone on a bit ... OK if your doing a bit of poetry but you need to be a bloody good muso ( Sting ) to get it to work in a song, and I'm not that. Many thanks for your comment though and for your ears 👂 All the best, and I love your studio ...c o o l 👍 Steve
  15. Great song, I take the comments regarding 'a timing issue' ... I thought it was a tad loose, however I enjoyed the trip ... looking forward to the Uganda Vid + soundtrack Stay well M8 Steve
  16. 'Trucks' eat your heart ... really good mix and the vocal is second to none ! (Your wife ain't called Susan by any chance 😏)
  17. Tight mix on the drums and I think you have the mix dead right ..like the vocal work very much 👌 Steve
  18. How am I missing this stuff ? Great track Bob, I don't remember this one so all good here .. as said on my posts, your guitar work is v. skillful but for my bit ...I love the song called Carry Me as I think it has potential and the vocal work is great All the best Steve
  19. Forgetting the tech stuff, this to me sounds as close to a pro song I have ever heard here or on the old site, it has a very neat vocal line and oh so tight guitar ...is that a real Hammond? So, as said forgetting the tech, it 's a great piece and I love it ... thanks for the post. (BTW Even though Cubase 10 contains all the various 'LUFS' for Radio, Spot etc, I sometimes use Audio Director v7 from CyberLink to give me a better compression value, sounds a bit naff but it works, so hey .. )
  20. Just realized ... you sound a lot like Joe Walsh, anyway just to say, I think the construct of the song is spot on, but for me the constant sound of the THU ? thingy just comes across as a monotonous drone and gave me ear fatigue. I think I would use it more sparingly and bring in perhaps a rhythm guitar with the bass line more pronounced ( nice Bass from Mr Fife ). However that said I liked the way the lyrics fit and the way they have been sung, with a bit of fettling this could be top drawer stuff. Steve
  21. There is too much content here for appraisal so I wish you well with your new activities to pass the time. Making music and writing songs brings out things you can't otherwise say out load, so maybe you'll just be taking a break ... Many thanks for the post.
  22. Thanks mate, As said there a some really great musicians here and it has to be said I scratch and cheat to get a sound that true talent would find easy .. no I promise not to quote your stuff as proof but, all I have to do ...is quote umm your stuff 🎸 😉 Best regards Steve
