  1. These are great!! Original and creative enough to also serve as great starting points for further tweaking. Isn't it funny how we're constantly looking for the latest/greatest, while we probably already have the best? Last week I was demo-ing Kuassa's Matchlock, and was about to buy it, before I remembered comparing it, at least, to S-Gear and Amplitube's Fender collections. I needed 10 minutes with S-Gear to give up on getting Matchlock, while making a mental note to stop buying amp sims that have NOTHING on S-gear 🤦‍♂️
  2. For some reason, plugin makers are slow to catch on to this (but things do seem to be shifting a bit lately), either because they fear losing brand recognition/status or they don't get how rapidly their customer base would grow if they went cheap(er). And this is despite ample evidence from other areas (utility, desktop apps, gaming, etc.). So we're in this funny transition phase now, where you often look at sales with a smile, like "come'on, you can do better than that. In fact, I bet you WILL do better than that, soon enough".
  3. Anyone compared the 'originals' vs MK2? I like the 7CG, so I'd upgrade if MK2 is a noticeable improvement. On the other hand, I also have the White Grand and don't use it much. I find the higher registers a bit harsh sounding; I don't think that sympathetic resonance can do much about that.
  4. That's my experience as well. I used 2/3 monitor setups for years and liked them. For the past year, I've mostly been using my 65'' tv as a monitor. It's 4K but I also use it mostly at 2K. Once you get used to the size, it just feels weird and uncomfortable to go back. Now, it does turn you into a wireless keyboard equipped couch potato, but what can you do?
  5. Well, if you're in that world... a buddy of mine has it, and I told him to stop complaining about the cost of their plugins. If you wanna' be a king, you have to live like a king. 🙂
  6. I just ordered a digital piano, and still feel a bit bad about spending the money. But it strangely makes me feel better to know that I paid for an actual digital piano the cost of 2 UAD plugins. Wait, they're on sale now. 3! 🤪
  7. I feel like a sinner just looking at UAD's stuff on regular pricing. When they're on sale, I peek in, and think to myself - damn, that's a nice plugin! if it ever goes on a big sale I'm in! 😄😭
  8. Is this a must (read, so damn nice) have? I only have Big Ceil and Celestial from them and like them. I was looking at Pink 4 which is also on sale, and being sorta' wondering/scared about its size and reported (by some) bugginess, then this hits. 🥴

Not unless they change their minds. I'm in the same boat, would get the rack if the voucher works. If you want to get the bundle/rack or any of their plugins (without the voucher), AudioDeluxe seem to have the best price, with the 'SPRING2020' discount code.

Yup, the code doesn't work without the free trial. The interface is misleading though, as it does accept the voucher, displays the discounted price, then cancels the voucher during checkout. And the silly upgrade price, that's much higher than buying either the collection or the rack without owning any of their plugins... oh, well. A bit puzzling marketing wise - given how popular Soundtoys are, I imagine a lot of people either have the full collection, or own a few plugins (my case); the offer is good enough to draw you into 'upgrading', which you might not do otherwise, so why limit access to the voucher?
  11. I have SPL Iron, Townhouse, and now the Alpha, and really like them. Each has its own distinct flavor. Of course we don't need all of them. That's a truism. The question is if you want/can stop getting them 😄
  12. Indeed, pretty crazy value. I got these separately (on deals, but not as good as this one). The percussion library is notoriously buggy, but when it doesn't crash my DAW, I kinda' like it as well
  13. Good point, that's the one I used in the end. So my regular voucher is waiting for one more interesting $32-39 deal
  14. My monthly voucher says... now we're talking! 🥳

    AAS Upgrade

Nice catch. $49 for me. Tempting

I guess that works if you already own some of the more popular ones - given that you'd have to pay that $25 ilok transfer fee. If you don't, or own some of the cheaper ones, like me, the Effect Rack deal is really tempting, even without a further upgrade deal. I'm trying to figure out if there's any disadvantage to having them in the rack (other than the fact that you can't sell them separately). Presumably there's no CPU hit from using only the ones you need in the rack?
  17. A bit cheaper at JRR, plus you get a 5% discount in cart (group/forum codes don't work).
  18. If you're a guitarist and use amp sims, definitely. I use either this or PSP Nexcellence instead of the reverb on some amp sims. They're both great.
  19. True that. My girlfriend loves the Ibanez for its looks. Doesn't care for the Fenders, Martin, Les Paul, spanish guitar. She likes the bass because it's 'different', and the Ibanez, because it's 'so damn pretty'. Can't argue with that, it is ☺️
  20. For what it's worth, I have an Ibanez AS153. Amazing guitar, incredibly versatile, flawlessly made. Might change the pickups one day but stock they're more than decent. The cheaper varieties are also well built and great value.
  21. That would be something. I guess that would only happen if they made it free for Helix owners.
  22. Beside returning a courtesy, it's an amused 'meh', don't take it to heart. You reacted to an earlier post of mine, so I assume you include me among those who you think have a problem with paying taxes. I don't, you misunderstood my post. So you distance yourself from those naughty, tax-avoiding people, then state that in fact you have avoided paying tax by using the same loophole, and finish by wrapping it all into a positive ethical stand. I just thought it's contradictory, and funny. All good, man
  23. A few Embertone libraries - everything those guys release is gold. Maybe a great deal to upgrade to Ozone 9 Standard/Advanced from O 8 Standard. Still missing a few EZX's, watching the sales. Some cheapo/quality bass amp sims.
  24. Sending stuff like that to Africa would be awesome. The trick is to find someone, or an organization, that is collecting in bulk. Here in Budapest, I post on dedicated Facebook groups with stuff I give away, and it often surprises me that everything gets picked up fairly quickly. Including stuff you'd think no one would want, because the hassle/cost of transporting it (e.g. an old couch, a big old monitor). But eventually you find people who collect and repair/restore in bulk, and it's useful to them. Think of a shipping container full of older but working/repairable electronics - they'd LOVE that in so many places around the world.
