  1. I know the Octa connects to a VS-700 via SPDIF out RCA cable on Digital 1 output Out of VS-700, in to the OCtA. VS-700 becomes the timing master, Octa catches signal from that. From the Manual, two Octas work together the same way - one is timing master. I would think the Studio Capture would work the same, but, yeah..I'd ask Roland.
  2. "Lucille" - The Beat Farmers The Legendary Country Dick Montana!! "Four ugly children, and a crotch that won't heal"
  3. Yep - "Right Channel 7" is actually channel 8 etc. That is something I would love to see changed someday in CbB. I would like friendly names for each mono section rather than L-R-Stereo of the "friendly" name of the channel Channel 7 of my Octa-capture feeds ins and outs of my UA 6176. Left to the 610B, right to the 1176 when running in "Split" mode on the 6176. I remember that only because the physical front of the 6176 has the 610 on the left, 1176 on the right. Unfortunately, I am dyslexic as f*ck, and anything where I have to figure out left and right when not sitting in a car seriously requires a 2 minute mental exercise that I worked out years ago...no sh!t. For now Channel 7 is named "UA 6176" and it's functional if not superfriendly. Almost everything I track comes in as Mono, other than a Synth with a stereo output. Cosmetic maybe but it sure would be friendlier. Dyslexics of the world untie!
  4. Isn't it amazing that you can get more functionality out of a *free* DAW without the care and feeding? https://reverb.com/item/32830824-very-rare-ssl-6040-e-g-console-with-la-2a-bae-1073-and-more
  5. I paid $29 for a legit copy of Pro that activated no problem from Kinguin.... but if money is an issue, just don’t put in a license key and put up with the nag screen. additionally, if you just must have * any * Windows software on your Linux box, it’s time to learn about WINE, and not whine.
  6. I - IV - IV -V II - I - V and I -IV- V Will do a lot for you...Throw in a II - V on that last one for the turnaround when you're feelin funky.. Depends on the genre - but I just taught you how to play at least 10,000 songs. Its okay to write #10,0001
  7. A two-fer from the incredib;e Joan Osborne - take yer pick... "Flyaway" - Joan Osbourne "Spider Web" - Joan Osbourne
  8. ASIO only uses one device at a time. It's a clock thang. To use the other device, deselect everything input and output, save the settings, then go back and enable the other. To use multiple devices you cannot use ASIO. WASAPI will usually be your best choice. AS far as what "Virtual In One" is...I dunno, but try disabling everything, saving, then enabling everything again and see if it changes
  9. I was forced through a unfortunate hookah accident to use my 65" Sony 4K TV as a monitor for about a month for the DAW. It wasn't bad in my opinion - but I was only driving it at 2K. I did have to crank up the fonts to 150% to see them easily (well, not "easily", but at all) with about a 5' viewing distance. Then I scraped together the pennies to put in a couple of cheapo curved 27" monitors and a mount for the same. For the DAW, I love dual monitors, Console view on the right, Track view and control bar on the left. I looked at some of the ultra wides where you could really set up one screen the same by floating the components around...but something about the dual monitors makes it just feel a bit more logical for some reason. I think that whole mess was like $350 from Amazon. But I don't game on a PC anymore and video post stuff happens on a completely different system (iMac 5K) . a PS4 hooked up to that Samsung would give you 4K gaming for about the price of a graphics card with no need to pull your DAW apart.
  10. You know Windows 10 will run forever unactivated, and can be downloaded for free, right? Only drawback is a nag message on the desktop and inability to change wallpaper. Given the popularity of Linux you describe, how do you explain the consistent <2% of the market share that it continues to enjoy in the desktop market? "It wont be implausible to say that Linux is going to gain millions of new users in China"...if it hasn't happened over the last 25 years, what impending event is going to drive a change in adoption? Much stronger case for a Mac port, but I would rather them stay the course in the Windows world. The product is stable and very functional, and I expect it to only improve.
  11. Sort of doubt it (never tried) but you can have many waveforms open at once in Goldwave, and edit any one, subset or all of them at once. Now you have ME wondering if I can call Goldwave from Cakewalk..
  12. "Afterimage" - Rush saw that show live, tripping my ***** off...
  13. IN Nashville, the basspayers dice only have 1s and 5s,,, anyone got seven sided dice?
  14. Goldwave...if I am just editing a waveform. Try a demo and see if it meets your needs. Price is right... Using Pro-Tools for an editor is like using a snowmobile to pull your boat. There maybe a corner case where it makes sense....but....
  15. "Green Onions" - Booker T and the MGs
  16. Bandlab has an opportunity here to offer plugins, free, trialware, and otherwise, from the assistant...kind of a VST marketplace. I more or less assume thats a business model they've already considered. So far as "Bundled freeware" I personally would be skeptical of everything in the package and would prefer to pick and choose rather than have to take a bunch of stuff together to get one steaming nugget of value.
  17. "Every Day I Write the Book" - Elvis Costello and the Attractions
