  1. Batch re-resave in Kontakt can dramatically improve loading times. It's something I do as a matter of course when installing new libraries.
  2. Well I just sold my soul and WUPed via Everyplugin. Waiting or "delivery" so I will probably be updating tomorrow.
  3. Thanks for the inputs. Hopefully I will have time to look into the options this week.
  4. I am wanting to set up a website but I am not sure where to start. It will be for a music project so having the ability to insert media is require. Ideally it would be a .co.uk domain. For hosting I am thinking about Wordpress or Go Daddy, just because I have heard of them. I would envisage the site traffic to be low. Any ideas, advice or warnings? Thanks.
  5. I have this, I am pretty sure it was a freebee at APD a while back. I have only had a cursory look at it so far. I must revisit and see if it has uses beyond EDM.
  6. I had a similar problem related to network adaptors. Waves support helped me get the licences back without using the annual reset. Since I have moved my licences to a USB thumb drive so they are no longer tied to hardware components, having changed my view that this was the more risky option.
  7. I am thinking I will not upgrade the eligible plugins unless I WUP, I am not sure I want three versions. I am toying with the idea of doing the WUP and getting everything up to date but its a lot of money for the privilege. At least there is no intro offer pressuring a decision.
  8. Very nice cello indeed, no doubt the update will make it even better.
  9. Well buried but worth linking for the discussion in the thread.
  10. If it a GM sound it should be one in TTS-1
  11. Seems to be causing some false positives in Acronis.

    XLN updates

Predictably I installed the updates and when I opened Cakewalk I got the "wrong computer ID" message. It was probably the last Windows update that broke it again. I use Adictive Drums so infrequently so it's almost every time I fire it up I have to reauthorize.

    XLN updates

I wonder if its forgotten my authorizations again. Have I the energy to check?
  14. This of course was said by the chancellor, in slightly different words. (leaving it at that for for fear of making a TOS violation.)
  15. I think the last 10 years have been a golden age for non-mainstream music but things are looking grim for independent music in the UK, already squeezed by streaming bands have now lost their touring income and the associated merchandise sales due to the pandemic. Two weeks ago Anathema call an end to a 25 year career at least in part to the extra pressures https://www.loudersound.com/news/anathema-go-on-indefinite-hiatus Today Big Big Train announce they have lost two members, while not citing the pandemic the cancellation of this years European and North American tours cannot have helped. From their social media accounts it seems most bands are soldiering on in increasing despair. Venues were already under pressure financially and from developers, how many will survive is unknown. The final deal between the UK and EU is unknown and could result in a massive increase in cost for UK bands touring Europe adding another level of uncertainty.
  16. he was instrumental in bringing Bob Marley to a wider audience. Reggae icon Toots Hibbert succumbed to Covid a couple of weeks ago too!
  17. I am hearing a lot of good things about this album and I must give it a listen. Overall I prefer the Hogarth era of Marillion and think F.E.A.R was their best ever.
  18. Two different products, this is a regular VSTi, the version for voltage modular had patch points.
  19. Its almost like XLN has given up on their licensing, it breaks, you reset it ad-infinitum . It very annoying for the user and can't be secure from the developers point of view. The may as well make it a simple serial number and have done with it.
  20. There does not appear to be a discount if you own the Voltage Modular version. I may have bought it for a nominal price, but I am pretty happy in most cases using it in the modular environment with the extra scope that brings. It certainly beats the Roland version on price, where a lifetime license is $149. Comparing the demo of the Roland with the Cherry Audio modular version I think the Roland has a slight edge on sound, but not 6 times better! Roland have added a second ADSR envelope but of course in modular there are a huge range of options for modulation.
  21. Certainly a worthwhile upgrade! I notice that when browsing in Komplete Kontrol there are two banks. 1.0 and 2.0, only the sounds in the 2.0 bank have the new features which I guess means you can't tweak the original sounds.
  22. My first impression was its going to have to be good to go up against NI's Monark, Arturia's Mini V and GForce MiniMonster, all of which I have already. But what is very interesting here is the fact the modules can be used in Softube's Modular which adds a lot of scope.
  23. It seems the problem was due to the Windows update re-enabling two network adapters, an Ethernet and a wireless. I had already tried the Ethernet but overlooked the network adapter which was disabled when I started using a high gain USB adapter. I am very glad I waited for Waves to respond before resetting the licenses. https://www.waves.com/support/computer-appears-as-disconnected-device-in-waves-central

  25. I suspect it was because the windows update reactivated a disabled Ethernet port during the 2004 update. Waves licenses have an unhealthy relationship with Ethernet ports apparently. The first FAQ solution was to disable the port again, but that did not work.
