    Old Friends

I really like this one. Very good melody and lyrics. I think you could raise the voc a few db to bring it out more and that's about the only suggestion I can make. Overall, a very enjoyable listen.
  2. I don't know about electric guitars and all the gear that goes with it so the POD and Kemper stuff is over my head. But I really like the song and the video is pretty cool. Thanks for posting.

I thought my vocal came out pretty well actually. Melodyne helped a lot. The "mediocre" comment I made didn't come out the way I meant it to be - funny. Anyway.. David, hidden symmetry, wookie, bapu Thanks for commenting. I do appreciate it.
  4. Thanks Simeon. I'm thinking of getting the Aeon collection. Anyone using it and how do you like it?

I posted this song on the old forum about 4 years ago. I decided to update it so I changed some lyrics, some instruments and the name of the song. The vocal track is much better although with my singing "much better" means it's way up there to mediocre now. Thanks for giving it a listen.

    All Along

Well this comment probably won't be useful. Just an observation on my part. I usually turn the dial when I hear anything jazzy because I just can't get into it. But when I take the time to listen to it I'm surprised at how intricate it is and I'm impressed with the musicianship. Which is what I felt when listening to your song. You guys know what you're doing. Nice job!
  7. Lee Pretty darn good for a quick test song. I've been using and liking the Sunburst and Picked Acoustic Vsts for a while and I recently picked up EZBass and Melodyne 5. Haven't gotten into EZbass yet but I watched a couple of tutorials. Did you create the bass line from the drum track or from something else? It sounds good and fits in well with the song. I tinkered with Melodyne 5 and my first impression is positive. The sibilance control is a winner IMO. Thanks for posting. Gives me a chance to hear what EZBass can do.
  8. I don't know what a Viking song sounds like (and you'd think I should know) but your song seems to capture the scene. The violin is very good - nice haunting vibe to it. Sounded kind of Celtic to me Very effective use of background sounds - the shouts and ominous drums. Very good. I listened to it quite a few times. And I'm going to have to get one of those Tarilonte libraries.

    Mortal Tears

Professional quality as usual. Looks good and it just sounds so good. An advertising agency could be interested in this - cosmetics or something in fashion. Just a thought.
  10. Johnny would be so proud. I like the guns vs virus bit. "Fauci's really hot" You had me laughing from the UPS truck to the end. Excellent. And hey, I'm getting a real haircut tomorrow!
  11. It's hard to really listen to the soundtrack while watching the action but it did sound appropriate. Have to say that after a while I didn't really notice the music, but I know that it's actively setting the mood. Might be interesting to show a short clip of the movie with and without your soundtrack.

    Just One Way

Wasn't sure what kind of guitar that is. Slide dobro as mentioned by Tom above? Anyway, it sounds great. Really makes the song IMO.

I don't speak French so I don't know what the story's about, but that made me pay more attention to the music. Very good overall and your voice is excellent. I was expecting the chorus to stand out more, but that's just my preference. Excellent guitar breaks too. Glad to see you back.
  14. Barry this is so great. Just love it. You could almost make two songs from all you've put into it. "it's country not Shakespeare" "no alcohol no drug abuse I miss that part" the board meeting or whatever talking about what is country music One suggestion. I think I'd leave out the "good" in "it's not a good country song" Seems like it would flow better. Looking forward to your next one.

Ruralrocker - Thanks for commenting. I have to revisit this piece after a while. I do think you're correct about the levels of the different synths. Had a lot of trouble trying to get that right but mostly I think there's something else that's missing and it's just not coming to me. tom I was perhaps in a not so good mood when I made that comment ("it's crap!"). I decided to just leave it alone for a while. Wookie Really glad someone else is familiar with Klaus, one of my heroes. Freddy Thanks for commenting and the encouragement! Appreciate it. David and Paul Thanks. I always appreciate your comments.

    Particle Play

Quite the assortment of electronica you have in there and pretty impressive how you made them all work together. Nice to see someone else using FM8. You know how you try not to laugh when you hear that blurp over and over but you can't hold back? That was me.

    Glasgow Blue

Love the title. Beautiful and a very pleasant listen. Guess I was waiting for a bit more structure or a theme to grab on to. You did mention that a voice is needed and I would agree. If I were more familiar with Blue Nile I would most likely have been more into it.
  18. Freddy Your stories set to that great blues guitar never disappoints. Timing of the lyrics are a bit rough in this one but still enjoyable. You have some interesting characters in your neck of the woods!
  19. Pretty darn good. I like it!
  20. The song is really good but the mix needs some work. I'm not the one to ask for mixing advice but my impressions are that there's kind of an overall muddy sound to the production and the vocal needs to stand out more. But don't get me wrong, I like the song!

Mark Astounding mandolin playing and yeah I got a live feel from it. Very very nice. Hmm, Kramer??

Canopus, I didn't realize there was a Canopus around here.😀 I've taken to naming my spacy stuff after constellations, galaxies things like that. Thx for the comment. Doug, Thank you. Sort of have to get into the mood for this music.

Canopus Maybe more of a sound track for a spacey video. This has kind of a Klaus Schulze vibe to it I think. I used Z3TA2 and Fab Filter Volcano and I modified Omnisphere patch Hypnotic Filter Tapper for the nice filter sweep effects. Also Diva, Zebra and Synthmaster. Thanks for listening/commenting. EDIT : I'm thinking of pulling this one. It sounded pretty good at midnight but then it turned into crap overnight IMO. EDIT again: it's okay.
  24. Always a pleasure to hear your latest Lynn. Very good arrangement and chord changes. You work with a lot of different instruments and you orchestrated them well. You've been blessed with a great voice that sounds good in just about any genre.
  25. Really liked the melodic lead instrument and the risers being part of the song and not just transitions. Sounded good!
