    Metamorphosis

I liked the part with the guitar in it. You mentioned Arturia Pigments on SC. How do you like it? I thought about getting it but it seemed too similar to Serum.

Steve, Thanks again for commenting. James Yes, I did post that travel video a couple of years ago at the old forum. It was twenty min long which was a bit much to ask people to sit through. Tom, Yikes, I didn't notice that glitch at 0:21. I feel like I'm putting out little fires with every revision. Thanks

Kloon, thank you. Actually I thought I had too much reverb esp on the whistle. Good point about the stereo width. That was something I meant to pay attention to, but just forgot. I'll get to that next version.

Orkney https://soundcloud.com/orygun/orkney This is another song I wrote a few years ago that was part of the soundtrack to a travel video about Scotland. I added a bass track and a low whistle track (kind of like a flute). Not sure if the new tracks helped or hurt the piece though. The whistle instrument is from Kontakt factory library and so is the violin. Thanks for listening.
  5. I forgot to add this: Did you ever see Das Boot, which is WW2 from the viewpoint of a U-Boat crew? It's all about sounds in a submarine - destroyers passing by overhead, bulkheads breaking apart, depth charges. There's a sailor with head phones on whose job is to just listen for nearby ships using some kind of directional microphone. Great movie.
  6. Not sure how I would have reacted if I hadn't read the comments first, but since I did and I knew what to expect I kinda got into it. I've experimented with Reaktor a little so I understand some of the things you did.
  7. Upbeat tune with nice interplay of instruments. Tempo seemed too quick to me or maybe that bass track could be slowed down by half?
  8. The song has a really nice atmosphere to it. I kept expecting something to fill in the pauses but you have a bit of a minimalist approach going in the song, which I think works well. I wanted another clue to what Mary's plan was since there's some ominous stuff going on, but I think you intended for the listener to make up a story for themselves.
  9. You guys are pretty darn good. I'm impressed that your recordings are all live with minimal edits.
  10. Smooth and more smooth. I really enjoyed listening to this and imagining I was off on some tropical beach.

    BIG JOHN

Steve, One of those songs that's so ingrained you never think of anyone else doing it, but gotta say I really liked your version. I can't put it any better than James did regarding the musical bed and pattering percussion underneath the lyrics. Really effective. Well done!

Thanks James. I could easily get by with just 2 synths, Omnisphere and Zebra, but the Deals forum has been the ruin of this poor boy.
  13. Your music has that professional sound to it like it's ready for prime time and I hope you get there. We really need to get back to hearing good music on the radio again.

    ...

Tom I didn't realize that I enjoy "Dance & EDM" until I heard this. Very intricate and very well done piece. Nice back and forth motion of the horns. The dialog is very effective too, the words seemed to direct the music. (WTF stage. I know what you mean ? )
  15. I listened to this song a while ago and it's still playing in my head. Gotta say this is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Really.
  16. Interesting experiment and well orchestrated. Wasn't sure where this was going at first, but at the end it became a movie soundtrack in my mind. The synth that comes in at 1:03, which seems to be what the buildup is all about, needs to dominate more, maybe by just upping the volume. The arp at the beginning seems too light in tone compared to what follows.

Daryl, Douglas, Steve, Amicus Thanks for listening. Tom, Man you are really good noticing these things. I really liked one of the presets on Arturia CS 80 but to me it had this annoying screeching kind of distortion around 4400Hz so I eq'd that out. Maybe that's what you're noticing? It was just on the one track though. I'm seeing an audiologist about this weird distortion I'm hearing only in my left ear that no one else seems to hear.
  18. Sean After reading the lyrics I found myself liking the song before even listening to it. The lyrics have a rhythm to them that's very pleasing to the ear. Have to admit though, I didn't really understand the lyrics but that's ok! I made this comment on a previous song of yours, and it's definitely a matter of taste, but I think the song could be even better with a melody that stands out more. Don't get me wrong, I liked the song quite a lot and respect the musicianship behind it. I just have this thing about memorable tunes I guess.

    Flurry68

https://soundcloud.com/orygun/flurry-68 Some interesting preset sounds from the below list of synths that I made into a tune. Not sure what genre this is. "Flurry" comes from the name of one of the presets and this is the 68th version of this song. Zebra, Omnisphere, Arturia CS-80, Arturia Analog Lab, Bazille, Kontakt
  20. Douglas Reminds me of a Tom Petty song. Yeah, the mix needs work eg that crunchy guitar just takes over, and it seems like there's not enough variety going on in the background. The vocal is really good as usual.
  21. Always a good chance for clouds here in the Pacific NW, but if it's clear I'm going to try some time lapse photos on an equatorial mount.
  22. Hey Paul Pretty song, esp the guitar solo. The tempo might be too slow. Seemed to me like the melody and lyrics aren't matching up, like you're trying to stretch out a verse into too many measures. Other than that, I liked the sentiment which came out nicely.
  23. Harry You have a great voice for the genre. I thought the mix was good but the bass could come up a bit. I've said it before: I like seeing these older fellows rocking out.
  24. Yeah, I liked the classic rock guitar too and I also liked the lyrics. Nicely structured poetry there which is difficult to appreciate when sung, esp in a heavier rock song. Very good production on this song too.
  25. I like the surreal aspect of it, the video and lyrics. That one snare hit stood out too much, IMO. Also I thought the ending went on a bit too long, but still I watched the video three times. Really good effects on the video. Which software do you use?
