  1. This is the loudest album I found in my collection. I don’t think I have any hotter. It is Crimson Moonlight - Divine Darkness - The Suffering. Hehe

  3. I have to take back what I did say about the DT album versions being the same. I did put it in SoundForge now and you can clearly see the 96/24 has less loudness in the mastering. But the mix is the same I think. 96/24: Wav grab from the CD:
  4. Here is the Bach i listen to now. It is Lute-Harpsichord the wrong way tho. But "better" than conventional Harpsichords? I at least think this is easier listenable. There is more definition of the tones. Harpsichord works great in orchestra. And I love it too. But I know many of my friends cant handle it. So, I can see why Bach and others wanted more lute like tone in their keyboards. And the real L-H is the best in that regard. As for the clavichord, that is also beautiful. But there is a "problem " with it that people nowadays struggle with it. Your velocity doesn’t only set how loud it is, it also sets the pitch. You also have an aftertouch on the pitch that can make one of the strings in a chord vibrate, if you want. But most of the time, chords get out of tune because of you press down one finger harder. But nonetheless, I love it. It has tons of soul.
  5. For me, ST i too much political correctness. Babylon 5 was so much better in that way. And the music is way better too. B5 is just better. I boutht the box sett of SG1 recently. I havent started watching it yet. That was also better than the PC ST in my mind.
  6. I did put the 44.1/48 kHz up there because YouTube only uses 48 kHz audio. So for making music/sounds to YouTube i guess using 48 kHz is best. I cant hear any loss in sound when resampling from 44.1 kHz to 48 kHz. But i do record in it when making something specific for YouTube/video, just just to get the same sound trough to the video.
  7. Exactly. I have the 96/24 official mixes of Dream Theaters selftitled album from 2013 and i canott hear a difference. I can se that they are in fact recorded in 96kHz by opeing them up in SoundForge and compair the wave forms to the 44.1 version of the songs. I must say that the 5.1 surround mixes is cooler...
  8. Cakewalk and every other VST DAWs do oversample softsynths and FXs, don't they? Or how is this really?

In my mind i think that a "great/max ludness" mix can handle mp3 much better han more live mixes with more dynamic.
  10. I have seen this video a couple of times. And to be honest I have Dream Theaters self-titled in 96/24 flac files and I cannot hear any different with the CD. But this guy did hear “better sound” in his DAW without knowing why. I don’t know really. I just want to hear what you thing about this so I can get a broader view.
  11. Wow. Thank you… I will make bach-digital dot com a part of my go to libraries. The other guys are putting words in Winters moth. I don’t think I have ever heard him say that you are to count double on Andante and slower. Just for maybe Allegretto, but the faster ones. But we will never know, because none of the composer back then wrote bpm and how to count it. But I guess the controversy is most about early 19th century works where there is a bpm and there is written evidence of what Winter is saying, and you have the school of thought that we all know. One thing for sure is that it is technically impossible to play faster than a given speed on piano forte because of the hammer mechanic didn’t have the stopper/damper of the hammer, as the modern piano has. But anyways. I love reading about such things. I guess you are too.
  12. Some of my friends are starting using Cakewalk since its free, and then they all can use the same. Even some is invested in other DAWs. But those will have both. and the others will use this to cooperate in bands. I don’t think they will use BandLab tho. At least not yet. But it would be cool to get a list of features in that regard. How a band can use BandLab to cooperate writing/recordings and even mixing. And how to ask for others (on BandLab) to participate, without the risk of getting 100 Versions back full of curse Words. And where to look for help. Musical, technical, theoretical and everything in between. The guys that I am talking about here has this band as a hobby. They don’t have time to go to the cakewalk forum and I think they see it as a waste of time. I bet many other looks it that way. So maybe we should build a strategy to take care of such people when they reach out to us for help. It can be hard to find what you are looking for if you don’t know how this forum works. And do not know any other forums too, when they just need to find a solution fast. Yes. I will help my friends out. Just making their Cakewalk work makes me happy. But I bet, there are more people out there with similar problems, but no one to call. And the forum seems chaotic to them. I dont have any answers here. But i hope we can come up to something. How to help kickstart the noobs.
  13. I fallow him. His videos about time measure and how to implement it to music is very interesting. But we can never know how fast J. S. Bach, G. F. Händel and the rest really played. I hope he gets his Studio done soon.

  15. Why not 128 channels? I think it can be a mess whit 16 groups with 16 channel each.
  16. Do you have a auto backup? Sometimes my backup program makes fresh Downloaded large files unusable because it is holding the temp files til it is completely uploaded to the backup, and it cant convert the temp files to the file you "downloaded". I turn the backup of in that cases.
  17. They use the melodies and lyrics. Sometimes make new in the old tradition, but use modern instruments. Definition of a folk melody/text in norway is that it is old enough to be collected in the 19th c, but without a known maker. Many works is in the same style but you have a name of the composer/writer and you call it folk music, but that is really a slap in the face to the maker, like you dont give him kred.

  20. It is cool to have more on the screen when making/editing music. But why not 2 screens in stead of one large? Main for tracks, pro channel, settings. And one other for the mixing desk, live levels and so on. Both in at 1440? I would get sore neck by working on so high screen as a 40" like sitting in front row in the cinema.
  21. No. I would love to. And I guess your right. It wont make enough sound maybe more than a normal lute, but not much more.

Here is a sample of Lute-Harpsichord Bach: Goldberg Variations, BWV 988 (Lautenwerk/lute-harpsichord: Wolfgang Rübsam) Comment of this recording: "Here in this new Naxos Recording it is all about musical communication in a cantabile manner as desired by Bach in the preface of the Inventions. Much of this desire was stimulated via the baroque Italian Art of Song which incorporated the so called Portamento and Vacillare technique. The latter contributes to the reason why this recording sounds like none other to date. This art of polyphonic communication is accomplished by a horizontal, independent interaction of voices that creates the “unpredictability of the next measures”, even when listening to this recording many times. The interplay is simply too complex to memorize. Not even I know what will be communicated exactly next after some time “away” from the recording. Should some listeners not appreciate this art-form, it is likely because of what I call the “Glen Gould Virus” that globally has preprogrammed the inner ear of Bach keyboard audiences; pre-programmed it to know what the next measure is to sound like, including the metronomic “beating of the music”. When this does not happen, the listener becomes likely upset. This is then under the headline of ONLY “hearing music”, namely just the printed score black on white. The horizontal approach in my recordings by contrast requires a “listening to music”, best achieved by observing the larger pulse of the scores, not individual beats. Bach was involved with the development and design of it and had some in his possession when he died. Most of recordings today are just Harpsichords with nylon/gut strings instead of seal strings as supposed on a Harpsichord.
