    Coming From 8DIO

If the guy in the video should happen to read this thread and have some kind of epiphany that he's doing it all wrong and what he really should be using is a third-hand 20yr old Studiologic controller that is covered in equal amounts of dust, jam, peanut butter, coffee cup rings, sugary drink like splotches, a miscellany of food-like crumbs and cigarette ash, that still works absolutely fine as long as you don't want to the play low E or middle C then please let it be known that I will be more than happy to relieve you free-of-charge of the stupid Prophet XL that you're not supposed to use if you want to make real music. I'm stupid and untalented, so it will suit me perfectly.

    In that case....... IBTFD.
  3. I tend not to dive in as a rule (I'm still on CW version 2020.09) but the only real problem I could see with it before was the CPU hit, so fixing that seemed like a very good idea. It seems now that the version I had was already broken it just happened to be broken in my favour. It's a freebie at the end of the day, so I'm not going to be losing sleep over it.
  4. Yeah, when the advanced tab isn't there, that's what it says, but when the advanced tab is there then it says Augmented Strings I -(ie the NTRO disappears) I didn't notice that when I first had it because I didn't know what it was supposed to look like. Either way round, there are only 50 presets in total. I would think that the "full" version would have more than that. The weirdness only happened after reading this thread and doing the update. Prior to that I just thought that it was a very nice and surprisingly tweakable freebie. I only did the update because of the CPU usage improvements. I wish I hadn't bothered now. I have also tried the INTRO unistall/re-install via ASC and it's as shown above at the moment. I don't have the full version and have never even installed the demo version (couldn't even if I wanted to it seems) so all in all it's very strange. Oh well, onwards and upwards and all that.....
  5. And now the advanced tab is back again......... For those who might be thinking that old Paulo's been on the sauce or might be going a bit doolally (and believe me I was even starting to question myself here) here's some screenshots I just took...
  6. #35 When Billy Goats' lips started moving.
  7. My Intro version had the advanced tab yesterday, hence my nothing but presets comment to you and this morning it was the same, but after closing and then re-opening it was gone - something weird going on there but the pc is offline, so I'm not sure how anything could have changed it. The preset menu change hasn't reverted to how it was before though. Hmmm, I think it might be time for me to forget about this one. It's not like I haven't got any other toys to play with.
  8. Anyone else's Augmented Strings Intro patch selector get borked by the update? Mine doesn't work like it did before. The only way in now is via clicking on the three little vertical lines to the left, clicking on the central bit where the preset name is does nothing now.
  9. https://www.arturia.com/products/software-instruments/augmented-strings/index.php?option=com_myarturia&view=demo&id=567 Going by an inspection to AQL standards of the augmented voices demo, I'd say it's basically more presets.
  10. #4 When I went to an older relative's birthday party and found out that what it's really all about is the hokey kokey.
  11. Now I've got visions of a little girl standing by the swings in the playground saying to other kids as they pass...... "Psst...... hey you........ you wanna know where to get the best deal on your favourite candy.......?"
  12. Presonus could do a lot worse than hiring whoever designed that UI to do the next version of Studio One.
  13. Yeah. It does seem like wilfully going out of the way to make a simple task more difficult. That said, if they had just basically re-skinned Tassman and left it at that I would probably have bought it, but this seemed like a bit of a half-baked attempt to me.
  14. Not long ago it was $34 on AAS site and they were also throwing in latest versions of all their other synths with that. Unless of course you'd already bought them when they came out in which case you got........oh yeah, that's right.....a worse deal than somebody who'd never bought anything from them. (Haven't quite let that one go yet...lol.) That aside, I would recommend trying the demo before buying. It's not all that really and there was nothing there that made me feel the need to get it. YMMV of course, but it's only been out a year and this is not the first time that it's been heavily discounted, so I'm guessing it hasn't exactly been setting any sales records.
  15. Yep. I often use it as a quick and dirty placeholder until I get more into the full development of the sound rather than spend too long messing about with the details when in composing mode. The pad layers in particular can be quite useful.
  16. Crossgrade for NI vouchers ?
  17. Why are they so expensive there ? Not even close to that over here - under £3k or approx $3500 and that includes 20% VAT. Actually getting hold of one is a different matter though, as with just about any keyboard it seems. Most are order now and we'll tell you at some unspecified time in the future when you might get it.
  18. Over now to our Thread Analysis Correspondent for the latest summary......... " Well, in many ways it's a case of business as usual......some people are confused and annoyed by IK, but this is obviously not IK's fault at all because they never ever go about things in a convoluted manner or communicate poorly, so it's clearly the customer's fault for failing to understand their very clear and very non convoluted business practices and communications..... back to you in the studio."
  19. Looks and sounds fab, but I reckon my old pc would probably melt just thinking about it, so the good news is that the price is irrelevant for me.
  20. I'm way ahead of you there....all the valuables I have are hidden in one of those real-looking fake books that has no actual pages inside. On reflection, the title "Bapu - A collection of his funniest moments" is probably a bit of a giveaway though, so until I can get a more convincing one I've hidden it behind this one....
