  1. Stardust 201/301 does seem more useful than the IK T-Racks 201 version at least.
  2. @TVR PRODUCTIONSAfter giving this issue another minute of consideration, I have another question... When you rolled it back, did you run the old full M1 installer, or just copy the old ".dll" file over the newer one?
  3. I don't quite understand why the old projects won't open correctly after you rolled back to your original M1.dll VST2? That one wasn't broken because it worked when you created the projects.
  4. Freezing bounces the instrument track to audio in the existing track, and puts the instrument offline all in one step. You will need to un-freeze it if you wish to access the MIDI for any further editing, then re-freeze the track after the edit. Freeze/un-freeze is a fairly quick process. But it will bake any preset and/or effects you were using at the time of the freeze into the audio track.
  5. In the meanwhile, here's your weekend homework ... 😉 https://musicsoftwaredeals.com/
  6. Thanks for that info on Maverick. I need to check that one out. So far, NI Noire seems to cover that ground well from prepared soft felt to pure Yamaha CFX 9' concert grand. It sounds very natural and real in the pure mode, but that character also holds up in the darker and softer presets.
  7. Don't beat yourself up over this. The Scarbee sits well in your mix. Nice cover! Might be different if it was a Wurli solo. 🤔 And that drumming on "I am the Walrus" sounds totally realistic, especially in the last minute or so. I don't believe I have any MIDI loops in EZdrummer 3 that can do that! Thanks for the tip on the Soundpaint version!
  8. Not quite following this. What are the actual steps involved here?
  9. Tracktion marketed BioTek as an "Organic" synth when it was first released. Apparently many folks assumed it was only good for cinematic soundtrack stuff. But most of the new sound banks are intended for edgier, modern popular music such as EDM, Raw Dubstep, Rap Trap, & Tropical House. A synth isn't "made" for any specific genre. A synth is a synth. Presets can be designed and marketed to a target market, so you may see certain synths favored by certain crowds that favor presets made for their style of music. Did you check out the Arachnid bank for Biotek? It's expressly aimed at EDM. My preference for synths is to get under the hood, using the presets as a starting point for understanding how sounds are made, and then tweaking them to taste. I guess that I lean toward ambient and chill music for my personal creative ambitions, although I like most styles of music, and have been to many hard rock concerts (but no dance music festivals)!
  10. The only pianos I have installed from NI Komplete is Noire and Una Corda. Space on my SSD is precious, as I'm avoiding duplication as much as possible! So I like the idea of only adding piano libraries with odd/unique or unusual characteristics... I have all of the IK Multimedia pianos, including those exclusive to SampleTank 4 Max, as well as Arturia Piano V and XLN Addictive Keys Grand. I'm also not a piano collector, this just sort of happened... plenty of options, but not enough time or SSD space, LOL! 😂
  11. I couldn't use the referral code at Soundpaint as an existing Soundpaint customer. Apparently for new victims only!
  12. Is Maverick odd or unique in any way, or just another great piano? I own it as part of Komplete, but have never installed it.
  13. ^^^ This one's is a no-brainer... You can layer and morph it in Soundpaint with the other free libraries that are on offer, Free Angels and Free ASMR. https://soundpaint.com/collections/free-instruments "Free Angels contains over 1500 heavenly sound designs consisting of angelic ambiences, celestial risers, a large set of ethereal plucked instruments, fluffy creatures, heavenly hits, seraphic voices, and a bunch of soft and saintly percussion. It is not designed for the stringent and analytical composer, but rather for someone who wants to explore the unknown and let themselves be inspired by the heavenly sound concepts of the +100 people who submitted for the project." "ASMR is short for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, and when triggered, it creates a tingling physical sensation based on the sounds you hear. These recordings are normally intended to be heard with headphones for a more intense feeling of proximity and intimacy, but they can also add a fantastic variety of textures when used in non-ASMR contexts. With over 800 samples available across 9 Parts and 54 Programs, you can create a plethora of tantalizing new sounds to caress your listeners' ears."
  14. Did you overlook the other IK library "Fractured Piano", another of their Cinekinetik series? https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/stfracturedpiano/ "Fractured Piano offers a wild variety of altered keyboard sounds. Designed to stir emotion and build tension, the library features sci-fi, cosmic and eerie sounds, action-driven percussive sounds and acid keys, along with dystopian harpsichords and other imaginary or futuristic sounds. It includes 5.4 GB of sample content and 37 SampleTank 4 instrument presets perfect for anything from film scoring to modern pop music production or general funky vibes." "Most of the “Piano Howling” family of presets were created by actually screaming into the piano frame, and some were produced using other tricks. Cymbal Felts were used in different positions pushing and damping the short strings section before the hammers, to produce 4 different sounds (“oscillators” in the sound element) for the “Piano Felt Bass” and other presets using the piano sustain pedal."
  15. Uh-oh. Now I have another dilemma... 🙄 Just realized that the Biotek 2 expansions that normally sell for $50 can be had at JRR for $25.20 with code "GROUP".
  16. That's really weird, sorry to hear that! Did you try the live chat widget on their home page? Maybe some unfortunate person is actually working this weekend...
  17. Well I already spent $12 of that on a silly product at Plugin Boutique so that I could get a free silly product for free! 🤪
  18. I'm sure that you may already be aware of this, but tossing this out there just in case... If you are copying and pasting an access key make sure that you are not copying any empty spaces at either the beginning or end of the key. These spaces are ascii characters that can make the entered key appear incorrect to the program. I usually click my cursor in line within the entry box and backspace or delete any blanks after pasting to be sure. I have had this happen a number of times with various programs...
  19. Don't have F'em yet, so cannot speak to any randomize features in that one. But just guessing based on the Biotek 2 synth by the same dev, I doubt it. There's just too many possible combinations of variables in a synth other than a pure subtractive synth to achieve anything useful at random. I suppose if you could freeze most of the preset and just randomize one section at a time that might be workable, but that's probably a huge ask to implement.
  20. LABS is just a free basic multi-sample player with a few controls, for indie samplists to provide content for. It works as intended, with generally very diverse and unusual sounds to expand your sonic palette with. As far as I know, only dedicated drum samplers offer multi-channel outputs per kit piece.
  21. That's why the discussions here on the "Deals" forum can help us decide what to proceed with or to avoid. Obvious axe grinding rants are to be ignored of course! 😉
  22. Good news! MNTRA has finally gotten rid of that stupid Pulse authorization and downloader app with MNDALA 2! All of the authorization and downloading now takes place native inside the MNDALA 2 plugin! Great job!
