  1. The player is $5 now at the SynthMaster site: https://www.synthmaster.com/synthmasterplayer.aspx
  2. Just picked up the Cherry Audio "Miniverse", a Moog Mini emulation. Nice! But regarding the Moog pedals, Cherry also has another emulation that's on my short list. The Lowdown Bass Synthesizer... Demo available! https://store.cherryaudio.com/bundles/lowdown-bass-synthesizer
  3. Are they native Mac silicon compatible?
  4. Pigments is a very versatile synth that can do almost anything. It's probably my favorite "new" synth (compared to vintage emulations). The Pigments workflow is very intuitive and fun, and offers lots of synthesis methods. Arturia keeps updating this synth with new features free for existing owners, which is a big plus! It's now up to v3.7 and I think I bought in at v2. Details > https://www.arturia.com/products/software-instruments/pigments/overview You may hear from some folks that are into "harder" modern synth styles that think Pigments lacks balls or somehow sounds "thin" compared to their favorite synths. But I think that's all up to what you do with the synth patches and FX. IMO a synth is a synth, and technically genre agnostic, except for the presets and label a publisher markets them with. Arturia offers many optional preset banks for Pigments in the Arturia sound store, so there's something for everyone! But yeah, Pigments is great!
  5. The performance optimizations of CLAP are deemed to be "collaborative". https://www.bitwig.com/stories/clap-the-new-audio-plug-in-standard-201/ "Developed with modern CPUs in mind, CLAP takes multi-thread management to a new level, with a clear and efficient allocation of roles between plug-in and host. Specifically, CLAP allows collaborative multicore support between plug-in and host through a so-called “thread-pool”, also allowing hosts to manage CPU-threading for plug-ins that provide their own multicore support." So dev support would need to come from both ends. It's probably not going to be an overnight process, rather an evolutionary process, requiring both parties to get aboard. Just putting a new plug-in format out there wouldn't necessarily change the existing code used by the underlying plug-ins or hosts. Also note that it was "Developed with modern CPUs in mind". This new CLAP format most likely won't make old hardware run any better. 🤔
  6. If they will toss in Augmented Piano, I'm all in! 😂
  7. That $49 crossgrade offer is tempting. It's 50% off the regular $99 price just for Fragments, which is the only FX of theirs that I'm particularly interested in. Dang! 🤔
  8. Sure did! And most of the publishers responded within 24 hours of sending the emails. But it was a major PITA trying to set up the emails with license details and where to send them. https://help.ilok.com/faq_licenses.html A machine-based license activation can become inaccessible for a variety of reasons. Some examples are: The machine was sold or decommissioned and the license activations were not deactivated first Machine was lost/destroyed due to fire or other disaster Upgrades (either hardware or software) have altered its configuration enough it is now being seen as a new or different machine PACE DOES NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO APPROVE OR DENY requests for machine-based license resets. You must request a reset FROM THE PUBLISHER in order to return inaccessible license activations back into your iLok account. *If you are using iLok License Manager version 5.5 or newer, you can submit the request from within iLok License Manager. See instructions below. If you are not able to use version 5.5 or newer, please use the software publisher’s support channels to contact the publisher directly and request the reset. *Cannot vouch for the new reset request process for version 5.5 or newer, as I have never used that. In either case it is still up the the software publisher to reset and restore licenses to your account. This new process would just remove the task of sending emails to everyone. Version 5.5.0: Added Ability to report an offline machine as unusable via Machine Details view or the context menu. Users can now initiate the Machine Reset process themselves, without needing to start a support ticket with a publisher.

  10. All good! Just yanking your chain because you asked why I needed Waveform. Cheers!
  11. My horror story with iLok was when I killed my motherboard during a routine upgrade project. So there was no longer any way to deactivate the local soft licenses from the original machine. The only recourse for me was to email every software publisher the used iLok and request a reset. At least Waves will give you 1 "get-out-of-jail-free" license reset annually if you mess up (and yes I even did that once).
  12. Bought Waveform like 5 years ago, before Scaler 1 was even a dream, when I first started looking for a feature like this! I still like it because the generator is not a plugin, and is integrated into the host. Just drop your instruments onto a few tracks, and go. The generator is already built into each MIDI track.
  13. Yes definitely make that list! And definitely unauthorize your iLok and Waves plugins if they are locally machine activated and you are not storing the licenses on a USB dongle. Those are the biggest headaches to recover if you leave them behind, especially if you no longer have online access from the original machine. An alternative with Waves licenses is to authorize them to a USB flash drive as a "pseudo" dongle that is portable, else unauthorize them and temporarily move them back to the Waves "license cloud". Most other software can be authorized with a simple username & password, but your list should include serial numbers, etc. as insurance! Yes, install your VSTs!! Most plugin installers these days write to several folders, and sometimes even the registry, so just moving the .dll will fail in many cases.
  14. Just to clarify that the Waveform 12 Free edition includes the MIDI pattern generators, just not the chord track that can be used for multiple MIDI tracks to follow the same chord progression (the Waveform chord track is MIDI only and has no effect on audio, unlike some other DAWs). The first version of Waveform included pattern generators, but no chord track. That feature was added later and is available now in either the Pro version or the MIDI Producer Pack for the Free version. Without the chord track, you would need to edit each track individually to stay in the same progression if using more than one MIDI track.
  15. The Spitfire Audio animal is a strange beast. It is what it is... 🙄 I don't think you should have any issues with Kontakt or IK libraries. Most modern sample players will allow you to "locate" your missing libraries after they are moved, or even offer to move them for you. Legacy libraries may be another issue for some players.
  16. Just FYI: Xpand!2 is a 4-part multi-timbral instrument. Your pic above shows that Xpand!2 preset using a different MIDI channel, i.e., "1-2-3-4" on each part. If the MIDI channels in your CW MIDI tracks are only sending out on ch 1, only Xpand!2 part 1 will play back in this case. All parts in Xpand!2 can be set in the plugin UI to use the same channel (or any channel 1-4), as can the CW MIDI tracks. Best solution here is to line up the channels used in both CW & Xpand!2 in order for all parts to play. Most non-multi instruments only respond to ch 1 (while some respond to omni, or any), but with multis such as this you will need to match the channels up.
  17. Thanks! I will need to check WA out when I have finished exploring all that Scaler 2 can do. Those might be a bit redundant with Scaler from what I have seen in demo videos, although probably with some differences.

  19. Probably best to ask for this advice in the Unify user forum for the best answer! https://forums.pluginguru.com/ The default with the Unify approach is to use ONLY the VST2 plugins, unless VST3 is the only option for a specific plugin that is used. For example, the plugin operations command "remove redundant plugins" deletes all VST3 plugins that have duplicates in VST2 format. That's just how they roll by design. They felt that VST2 was less problematic for them to support in general as a plugin host. They are a small team: 1 sound designer and 1 programmer. Here's a comment by Dr. Dunne on one of the Unify Forum threads: "We prefer VST2 over VST3, when available, because VST2 patch data tend to be smaller, and more compatible cross-platform (Mac/Windows)".
  20. Take a look at them. I originally bought Waveform back in version 8 with the plan to create MIDI patterns in there and export them to Cakewalk. But Cakewalk never really liked how Waveform exported multitrack MIDI files. Funny enough, I discovered that Reaper was actually brilliant when you imported the same file. It prompted you to split to separate tracks! So you might appreciate the Waveform MIDI export since you mainly use Reaper. The Waveform generators are not as sophisticated as those in Scaler, or probably something like InstaChord or InstaComposer, but they are quick and fun to mess with. Note: this is an old video but it's a good getting started overview...
  21. Grabbed the Fusion EZbass MIDI for $12. Already had the Fusion Grooves Drum MIDI for my EZdrummer 3, so why not? Otherwise, not much of interest on sale at TT today, so moving along now...
  22. I had an installation problem trying to put LABS on 2 devices (desktop and laptop) using the same account and the Spitfire Audio application. It was like whack-a-mole trying to get the 2 devices to show them all installed correctly. If I installed a library on one device, the other one broke and was in need of "repair". That was a while back and I finally gave up. No idea if that was ever fixed or if I was just missing something. I concluded that the installer wasn't able to make the distinction between 2 devices... 🙄
  23. With all those DAWs you have already, you know that you want it. Resistance is futile! Plus Waveform 12 Free has the MIDI pattern generators, and the way Tracktion has implemented them is is kind of cool. Great idea generator! Everything I want except for the chord track. Added that for the $25 MIDI Pro pack. It's nice to have around as a secondary DAW for a change of pace and some fresh inspiration! I've also got CW, Reaper, Ableton, and Studio One.
