  1. Truth told, I would have paid for Cakewalk all along. (I expected to, when I was seeking it out in the first place)
  2. Same here!! I spend more time messing around with themes every day than I do playing/practicing. I don't really record much, I use CbB mainly as a hub/backup band for jamming alone at my desk. (including real instruments and a lot of VSTi) - I look at theming as a hobby, but if I'm being honest with myself... it's near 'addiction' status.
  3. I haven't seen anything... any chance you could share a link, for us? Much appreciated !
  4. Good grief. Some are so eager to start swinging... The topic was/is 'why Cakewalk doesnt get the respect/recognition' To which I repeat, Cakewalk isn't helping itself create excitement. - For the most part, the 20 or so active members here, who examine the updates and/or have used Sonar since 'back in the day' are NOT the ones in need of convincing/targeting. Put the gloves down, guys... it's not personal.
  5. That's a really good way of putting it !
  6. There are a ton here, readily available. Rumor has it, we won't be able to customize or create/edit themes with the new Sonar, so I think many have given up (I haven't) the hobby... I wouldn't expect many more.
  7. Oddly enough, I seeked out Cakewalk, when I got back into the hobby a couple of years back. It was from memory of what I thought was the "goto" DAW. I had no idea it would be free (I was willing to pay) - I think these days, for as much as we are bombarded with advertisement, DAW useage comes more from "word of mouth"/recommendation. - Reaper has a rabid fanbase (in a good way) who are chomping at the bit to share knowledge. - FL (don't call it Fruity Loops we are all 'growed up' now) is ALWAYS going to come up when the "I want to become a producer and make beats, which DAW should I get?" question is posted on message boards. This being said, Cakewalk is doing itself NO FAVORS with this 'you're gonna have to pay, and we aren't going to tell you anything about the new software, but it will have a new (read: "same but uncustomizeable") user interface. Aaaand the only section/thread specifically hyping up/passing time/increasing excitement here on the official forum... was locked. (and by the way, I'm kind of sick of seeing members here, tell anyone who asks to basically 'shut up and wait.') Now, all that I really see regarding Cakewalk is the question "so, what are you switching to?" Even I AM about 10 minutes from jumping ship. And I really don't want to.
  8. Thanks for the help, guys. Yeah, I was speaking about the Note Names/Drum Names on the grid above the keyboard. - I could swear I saw one person, one time with black letters... but I guess it was just wishful thinking. Thanks again, I absolutely LOVE lurking this section of the forum.
  9. Has anyone found a way to change drum map colors? The gray/white is really tough to discern on my laptop (it's not AS bad on desktop, but still pretty tough on the eyes)
  10. Mike's videos are pretty much the 'goto' when it comes to Cakewalk video instruction. But, man...seems like each video inches closer and closer to "Exit Strategy" status...
  11. Wow. Sorry about the image size. I wasn't expecting to show up so... huge
  12. I just wanted to say thanks for giving me some confidence to attempt Theme Editing. After checking out your creations, I decided to do some 'trial and error' testing. A few months later (slow learner) I finally got the hang of it. - Anyway, I just wanted y'all to know there are people who enjoy your work, and maybe don't log in to say thanks/give credit. Side note: I play piano scales every morning at 6am, and this is my theme I use for my (morning ritual) theme. (hex is 1379c9) Cheers !
