These videos aren't really relevant to the DAW, or the included XT plugins, more the separate channel strip to be used in other DAWs. The saturation isn't from the channel strip in this DAW, it was (when those videos were made) in the busses and you could dial in drive. I believe they've added drive to the channels in Mix bus V9 which is good, as sometimes if I was stem mixing, I'd route each stem to a buss, purely for the colour. Dan's great, but this video was quite possibly the worst he's ever made and he omitted so many of the most important parts. Good for clicks though, so I can see why. Personally I don't rate the plugin in the video, or the other buss one, but the DAW has some really nice color 🙂

For me I can see why they might not like it, but I don't think they completely take into account the full picture. I like throwing in some orchestral sounds into other genres and I'm not a composer that works in the orchestral space, so at this stage there is zero chance of me forking out $500+ on a lot of those libraries. By making the pricing more accessible it opens up a new market and new customers that otherwise wouldn't have bought from them. Realistically with Komplete Ultimate, IKM Philharmonik 2 and then some individual libraries that were either free, or heavily discounted, it makes it even harder to justify some of the higher priced libraries, even though for sure they will be better than what I have. Sometimes I like using the orchestral sounds just for fun, not even for a track, so it's more of an indulgence. These prices from 8DIO and some of the other more discounted libraries make that pure indulgence easier to justify and they get sales they wouldn't have had. But now I'm really not sure what the best choices would be out of these, as there are a couple of really interesting looking bundles! I tend towards using strings and brass more personally... any recommendations?

That actually looks really good. Kirchhoff is an impressive EQ, so I would not at all be surprised if this was great too.

Not sure if it still works, but I was able to get Gullfoss for about $74 US in their last sale by paying in Chilean Pesos.

Skipping it this round again and might consider V Collection 10 when it comes out. My upgrade offer is $149 for V Collection, so nothing special so I might as well leave it until the new release.. or never.. lots in there, but I have plenty of alternatives to keep me happy. I didn't find the previous plugins from them to be too special, but I still claim these just in case something turns out to be good. I don't even install them these days so hopefully someone posts if they really like one of them!

I had it in my cart and was checking out some reviews and then saw your comment. $299 for Musio 1 seems like a better choice considering everything it includes. Almost seems like there's a catch I'm missing.. This would still have been a great buy though!

I think in some way they've singlehandedly managed to make every customer segment, new and old feel screwed all at once.. it's really quite the achievement 🤣 They have fixed the problems of existing users not liking their upgrade/crossgrade prices though.. currently you can't even log into your account to check, their website is completely broken.. haha...

D16 discounts half the time you don't even need to click the link to know what they will be they're so predictable.. I was a bit surprised by this one and even for Repeater alone it made sense, so I grabbed the bundle. Haven't registered Godfazer, or Spacerek yet, I'm planning on giving them a bit of a demo in case I decide to sell/swap either of them instead, as they weren't on my radar initially and I haven't used them before.

You were definitely not alone there, I'm sure a whole bunch of people did. I think we get better anticipating over time, but I've still pulled the trigger on plugins at a good sale price, only to find them cheaper, or free as a giveaway down the track!

This was a fun freebie and didn't sound too bad. I didn't notice any high CPU, but I didn't check specifically. Hopefully they fix that up in future updates.

I wouldn't surprised if upgrades will be available after Black Friday sales and leading up to new year. First round will probably be just seeing who they can fool into getting to pay for the full bundles and rebuy the products they already own and then they will probably make the upgrade pricing available to those of us that aren't prepared to do that like me 🙂 And if they don't, I'm not fussed either way. At first I was disappointed that I missed out on the first offers, but then I scored the Creative bundle which was much better value. Some of the people that held out got even better offers after that. These new bundles and the essentials bundles are good value. Every step of the way has shown me to just wait and don't jump early with UA right now.

Like always with UA, just ignore them.. the sit and wait game is the key to UA and if they don't recognise already owned, I'm sure you already have plenty of plugins and if not, just buy someone else's 🙂 Lots of good sales over Black Friday, so I'm happy to skip them this round. I just see UA getting cheaper for anyone that holds out.

You can always just download the demos from UA without the sub. I've trialed almost all of the ones I've bought from them first.
