Wookiee Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 Late at night on a deserted beach far from the crowds of madness along with the noise they makeNight Beach Thanks for the listen Synths used Synclavier V, CMI V, ARP Odyssey, Wurli V 1 1
antler Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 I enjoyed this. Very aptly named too: evocative, with the dancing synth parts sounding like twinkling stars, and the synth pad with the long-ish attack time sounding like waves breathing as they wash in and flow out. Good mix too. Thanks for sharing. 1
amiller Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 I could imagine sitting on that beach gazing at a sky full of stars ... peace. Your song creates that image nicely. Thanks for sharing.? 1
Wookiee Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 Thank you @antler I was listening to it and that is exactly what the furry brain imagined too, much better the title than July 2019 Project 4
Wookiee Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 @amiller My thanks glad it created that picture for you too.
PhonoBrainer Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 Stranger Things have happened this would fit right in to that show's soundtrack. I was mesmerized. Nice piece. Hey what do you have on your mix bus? Just curious, it sounds good. With these pallette colors, rather minimalistic, I'd guess the mixbus processing could be pretty important . . . did you use something that tickles or excites the treble? cheers, -Tom 1
Wookiee Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 @emeraldsoul Thanks Tom, I have nothing special in my master buss. From the top down Cakewalk N-Type Console with the Drive set to about 1.9 Cakewalk Buss Compressor just for glue threshold -5.4dB % 5ms Attack, Auto release, No makeup. No SC and 100% wet No EQ Cakewalk Tape Emulator 15ips, Record level about 2 playback about 11. I did run it through oZone 8 essentials, as I was feeling lazy, which did add a little top end EQ and a little limiting gain to bring it up in level as it was a touch quite out of the mix so no squishing occurred in the processing. Normally I would not bother with oZone I usually use the LP EQ and the Adaptive limiter, but today well.
daryl1968 Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 This is really nice Wookster. Love the synth brass arp that comes in - straight off A Broken Frame by Depeche Mode. Can I suggest a title for the follow up to this one - 'Son of a Beach' ? 1 2
Wookiee Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 @daryl1968 Thanks, hum possibly I will have to ponder that. The ARP patch from the Odyssey is call Poly Brass but with my own arp pattern.
Wookiee Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 @kakku Thanks for the ears and the comment, though when one does not know what orthodox is one does not know when one is being unorthodox.
Douglas Kirby Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 I liked this one a lot - from start to finish. I was impressed by the mood of it - which fit your deserted beach description. Hard to find those on the 4th of July weekend? 1
bjornpdx Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 Wookie Very nice on the sweeping synths that bring to mind crashing waves. You posted something kinda similar a while ago that sounded like breathing. Someone else mentioned twinkling stars which is what I'd thought of too. I think this is one of your best songs that I've heard so far. 1
Wookiee Posted July 8, 2019 Author Posted July 8, 2019 @Douglas Kirby Thanks for the ears, nice to know I conveyed the mood.
Wookiee Posted July 8, 2019 Author Posted July 8, 2019 Thanks @bjornpdx again it pleases me that you got that vibe from the sound.
Grem Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Good work Wookiee. I liked the whole thing. Very pleasing sound that sets you in the mood to just let it go! 1
Wookiee Posted July 8, 2019 Author Posted July 8, 2019 @Grem Thanks Michael glad it chilled you out. 1
Bob Oister Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Hey, Wook, You've got a very nice ambient piece with beautiful composition and playing, lovely melodies and a crystal clear, wide, well textured mix!? I love the choice of synths on this one, and the arrangement is also really well done holding the listener's interest throughout the entire pleasant ride. Great work, John, excellent stuff!??? Have a good one! Bob 1
Wookiee Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 Hi @Bob Oister, Thanks for lending your ears and thoughts to another of my little noises. I appreciate you input, nice to know the mix worked for you and that you enjoyed the vibe. best Wooks
