  1. Plug-in out 7 is the 7th stereo pair. In the audio input that is 13+14
  2. There are 12 stereo pairs. Pair #2 is made of 3+4 out.
  3. It is as easy as this video shows: add an audio track set the track input set the output in the synth BTW, it does not matter if the synth output change or the audio track is done first.
  4. SONAR also included the BlueVerb DRV-2080 which is not part of the current Blue Tubes Bundle. The plug-in is sold separately.
  5. If you have any of their commercial plug-ins look in your account for a custom full bundle price.
  6. There was a problem with the SI installer that was fixed in Oct. AFAIK, there are no problems with the Cakewalk Web Installer at this time.
  7. It is easier to add the tracks when adding the plug-in but not necessary. Additional audio and MIDI tracks may be added at any time and pointed to a synth.
  8. Installing software on external drives is a bad idea. If the directory junction for "C:\Cakewalk Content" was made correctly and "C:\Cakewalk Content" opens as expected, the error message may mean there is a permissions issue creating folders on the external drive. Not sure what this means Directory junctions in the post you quoted eliminates the need to change preferences in CbB.
  9. The Cakewalk Web Installer is much easier and safer than editing the registry. It allows running the add-on installers as often as necessary.
  10. SessionDrummer has 12 stereo outputs. The outputs are at the bottom of each channel in the mixer. Set the channels as desired and add audio tracks for each of the audio outs used by the plug-in. Open the plug-in use and use F1 to bring up the help. Maybe this video will help too. I've queued it up to the mixer page part.
  11. What you need is separate audio outs from the drum plug-in. This works with one or more MIDI tracks. However, some drum plug-ins have only one stereo out. If the drum plug-in is stereo only, you can use "Split Notes To Tracks.CAL" to break out the MIDI data into separate tracks and use each track to drive different instances of the drum plug-in. You will need also need extra audio tracks for each install of the drum plug-in. It is also possible to leave all the MIDI in one track and use a drum map to point to multiple plug-ins. It will still be necessary to have an audio per plug-in.
  12. I prefer the name used in the documentation Add Track menu Instrument tab. Asking for the Instrument tab to have more of the Insert Soft Synth Options dialog options is not a new request. It was requested around the time of the addition of the menu to SONAR.
  13. The plug-in must be there because it is listed in the scan log it loads in old projects The plug-in is not an effect so it will not be listed in plug-in effects list. It is a synth so should be listed in any of the "Sort by" plug-in layouts for synths. If you are using a custom layout for synths, the plug-in may need to be added to the layout using the Plug-in Manager. By default, CbB displays plug-ins using names manufacturers assign in the plug-in files. Sometimes this name is not what one expects. There is an option to change the names displayed in plug-in layouts. This option is set using the VSTPlugInNameFormat in Preferences > File > Initialization File. This preference page is normally empty. To set the option to use the plug-in dll file name: Enter VSTPluginNameFormat in the Option entry, Enter 1 in the Value entry, click the Set button, restart CbB.
  14. The easiest way to install and activate installers created from late 2014 through 2017 is by using Cakewalk Command Center. To activate DP manually, make sure to run the stand alone synth or DAW as administrator. Once activated there is no need to run as administrator.
  15. The process is documented here http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=NewFeatures.022.html It is for converting MIDI CC automation not plug-in parameter automation. I suppose one could reassign parameter automation to a CC but I have no idea if it would be usable.
  16. CA2A has a sidechain input. It came in ProChannel, VST2/3 and AAX formats for Windows and AU, AAX and VST3 for Mac OS X. The PC2A is a ProChannel module and does not have a sidechain input.
  17. There are two basic track types: audio and MIDI. All others are derived from those two. A (Simple) instrument track is a presentation layer above an audio+MIDI track pair. Instrument tracks have steadily improved since their introduction years ago. The Add Track menu instrument tab defaults to creating instrument tracks but can create audio+MIDI track pairs on demand. The only way to record audio directly from a soft synth is with an audio track. This may either be the audio track from an audio+MIDI track pair or if using an instrument track an additional audio track with its input pointing to the same synth. For more info see synth audio recording in the help.
  18. It's a Windows thing. The main menu is called with Alt. The underlined letters are the rest of the accelerator key combination. So in this case: Alt = main menu i= Insert y = Insert Synth... Press each key one at a time to see Windows default accelerator key behavior in action. Of course, the keys after Alt are program dependent. I have no idea if a particular function would work well exposed for binding but my guess is the function called by the track view track header content menu option Insert Instrument... may a better choice than the function called by Insert > Soft Synth... from the main menu. Insert Instrument... is a newer method calling the Add Tracks menu instrument tab which includes synth selection and options in one dialog. That said, I prefer the flexibility of the Insert Soft Synth Options dialog but Add Tracks menu could be improved.
  19. The item circled in yellow is just an example of a file name generated by the entry immediately above it. Given multiple files may be created on export, no attempt is made to show exactly what file(s) are created by the export process.
  20. It is true, the function called by Insert > Soft Synth... is not exposed for binding. The only reason I can think of is, unlike the other insert "track" functions, "Insert Soft Synth" launches a menu instead of actually inserting a track into the project. This is also the case with Insert > Rewire Device. When I mention things like accelerator keys, it is a way, and in this case a very similar way, to perform the requested task (i.e. keyboard shortcut binding albeit predefined in the program). If you were going to say "Global Menu," that's the name I use for the menu at the top of the main Cakewalk window (shows Track View by default). It might be called "Main Menu?" I haven't run across the nomenclature in the documentation. My guess is that you know, so please fill me in if you are inclined. Why take my post out of context? The question was specifically about the term "Insert window" in the post immediately above mine. I suspected the user meant Insert Soft Synth Options dialog but wanted to make sure. Aside from the Add Track menu all the other methods of inserting synths call the "Insert Soft Synth Options dialog" (as long as "Ask every time" is enabled in the dialog) after the synth has been selected. This is why my response to post "That only opens the menu list" started with "Of course, it all starts with selecting a synth." As for "Global Menu" vs. "Main Menu", this is the first time I recall hearing the term "Global Menu" but I understood it to mean the menu at the top of the application. Personally, I call these the "Main Menu" in any program but the meaning in the OP was clear. As with most feature requests, I have no objection to the request. Generally my replies in this part of the forum are suggestions to accomplish similar results with the tools at hand while waiting for the request to be implemented. Granted in this case, there is no way to create a custom module button but there is a predefined keyboard shortcut.
  21. @abacab, I believe all the user wants is the label pane (the keyboard to the left of the notes pane in the PRV) to indicate which of the virtual keys is pressed like it does for other MIDI input options. It appears the virtual keyboard is inserting data into the MIDI stream after the PRV label pane display. For now, if one really needs this feature, it can be done by using the virtual keyboard in a MIDI/instrument track before the track to record and routing the track with the virtual keyboard to the recording track using either a virtual MIDI cable or plug-in that can output MIDI. Or use a third party virtual keyboard as they will come into the DAW like any other MIDI input device.
  22. You know if they removed legacy methods, those that stick may by continually stymied by having to learn new ways of doing things. This may just as frustrating to existing users as having multiple ways of doing things is to new users. There are several ways to add instruments to a project. It would be surprising if all of them were not used in the field. Some users may employ more than one method. For example, if my mouse is near the browser, I might use drag and drop from the browser. If it is near the track headers I might use the context menu or directly click on the add tracks menu. I rarely use the main menu insert soft synth option though, however; others are on record preferring this option. I agree, creating tutorials for new users need to be simple. Detailing multiple methods may be overwhelming. Still once the concepts are understood, learning different ways to do the same thing has its advantages. The export module, introduced with SONAR Platinum, has several simplified export dialogs. It also is a convenient way to see how long a project or selection is. The module has been extended to include export to BandLab. For new users, I am not sure if I would even bother to discuss the new advanced export dialog. At least not in the initial discussion about exporting a project.
