Never come across any of the issues mentioned in the OP, and I'm on 2020.05 ( Build 039 64bit ) with Win 10 Home V. 1909 OS build 18363.900. Just an off the shelf PC, not a purpose built DAW machine. Maybe format the whole machine and do a clean install of everything.

True. The funny thing is when FL & Ableton came out Cakewalk was a far more mature product , those other programs almost seemed like cute toys in comparison. I've said it before but Cakewalk seems to be the DAW of choice for guitar playing Dad's ....whilst the cool kids are all off making hip hop beats and EDM on other platforms because it's easier with the tight tools. Whilst the Pro's or the wannbe Pro's are all using Logic or PT which aren't really better than CBB but have traditional strongholds. When was younger I had to move from Music-X to Cakewalk as the Amiga platform was becoming a dead end, and I hated it at first as it was so lame in comparison but it got better and better whilst Music-X ceased to be developed and then there came a time in the late 90s -early 2000's when almost everyone I knew who made music used Cakewalk who made music outside of a Pro Studio. It felt like it was the most popular DAW for the home studio user. So how did it fail ? Well I think powers that be maybe didn't see the way the music industry was heading. The explosion of electronic music , the domination of Hip Hop. Other platforms were just better positioned to attract that audience. Easier to make music with, geared towards different production workflows. Nowadays most people I know don't use Cakewalk although there are still some die-hards like me. However I think Bandlab are in a good position to re-establish Cakewalk as a real contender. They have 18 million users on their App apparently ! So there is a built in audience for those wanting to take their productions to the next level. I really thought that by now some bigger moves would have happened on this front. Bandlab has attracted many users because of it's slick GUI, ease of use, collaborative features and of course it's free , lightweight and runs on most anything. If they can rework CBB into more like Pro version of Bandlab and include the tools wanted by modern producers I think they could reign supreme once again.

Seem like a waste of time and resources to me. Those that want to use them can ....I think I tried them like once or twice 20 yrs and they are long consigned to the FX bin of forgetfulness. There are way better plugins out there nowadays for those who need them so giving them a makeover seems a bit redundant

Did you try just dragging the end of the clip to where you want the song to end ?

It would be very useful to be able to convert a track generated by Cakewalk's built in Arpeggiator to midi for further editing/tweaking.

Okay I think I have it now thanks. I've never used the Aim Assist, tried it on a project once when it was first introduced many years ago and I find it gets in the way ! But if it's on then the Alt-X seems to toggle the time/ location. of it

Agree, haven't used 'em in 20 yrs when I had a hardware drum machine There are so many more options now for making beats, what I would also like is to be able to collapse the PRV and show only notes used in a kit

I used to run CBB as Administrator ( as recommended on some audio forums ) but it prevented a plugin called Captain Keys from performing the same drag & drop midi operation. Might be worth looking into.

If you read any of the articles in SOS from these big name pro producers , there's often compression on the way in when it's recording , then one or two at the track level , then also on the master buss and then it gets mastered.

Many highly regarded mixers use a compressor on the 2buss. I use two on mine and a limiter and sometimes a MB limiter so I guess you can call that 3 or for layers of compression on the Master Buss. I think where most amateur mixers go wrong is piling too much of it on, it's more like a coat of varnish to add little vibe & thickness not necessarily squash all the dynamics the mix. Some compressors add a nice tone even if they aren't compressing. So they are more like an effect / fairy dust than a means of level control.

The reason it sounds different on each set of earbuds / speakers is because you have mixed it on equipment that does not sound flat enough. This is why we spend not insubstantial amounts of money on quality monitoring and acoustic room treatment. So that when mixes leave our own speakers they still sound good on others. It can be a long and expensive road to get your equipment and mixing skills up to broadcast quality, thankfully it's cheaper now than ever. But you still gotta invest.

What ? I think the Multidock is great, I keep it full screen on my 2nd monitor with always open Console and PRV etc.

Use Ryzen master to run a stress test. According to mine the the temp limit on my AMD CPU is 95 degrees C Stress test took it to 76. Normal heavy Cakewalk project temp is hovering around the mid 50's ..that's with the stock air cooler and no o/c CBB doesn't cause the temps to ramp up especially

I tell you what I'd find useful ( and I am half hoping someone will tell me it can already be done ) A quick way of duplicating midi notes either an octave above or below the current selection. I know you can select and CTRL-SHFT and move the mouse up or down 12 semitones to do it but just a single press of a key or two would be great. This is especially handy when you are working with orchestral parts as you quite often double them in the arrangement.
