  1. While there may not be tons of presets in the modular version, it looks like there are some good ones and ones that act as a good example of how to use some on the switching and boolean modules. The Ambiant Strings preset in Modular is gorgeous, combining the poly version of the SEM Expander with Cherry's Poly Stereo Spread module, two incidences of a Cherry's digital delay and a digital reverb. I think it will become my favorite synth strings preset.
  2. Still leaning to the modular version, I have several sequencers and an arpeggiator there so I don't think I would miss them much versus the extensive modulation and processing capabilities that would be added.
  3. It may go lower if you complete a bundle, but its a moot point for me as I have just found I don't have all the synths as VSTis . I will probably buy the Voltage Modular version as it give a lot more flexibility. Currently $29 at Cherry for the Poly/Mono version bundle. I have been getting into Voltage Modular lately, the latest addition being the Octagon sequencer which is very nice.
  4. Need to check later if there is a discount if you own the other synths. I also wonder if it will be available for Voltage Modular. There are advantages in both formats, its a shame you have to buy both but given the low prices one can't complain too much.
  5. My current software subs. EW Composer Cloud. This worked out very well for me, the libraries I use I probably would not have bought and the ones I thought I wanted and I may have bought get little use. The only downside for me is consumption of disk space. Presonus Sphere. I decided to give it a go, if only for a "extended demo" and decided to stay. I would have been reluctant to buy outright but now I am using Studio One extensively and Notion when needed. I expect that by the time my subs reach the purchase price there will be paid updates to reset the clock. Roland Cloud, just the base sub at around $3 a month. There is a lot of quality content for Zenology and its being constantly expanded, however its not getting much use at the moment. Abobe Photography plan. Subs probably make the most sense for people making money from music as they will often be the most tax efficient (like leasing a vehicle etc.) I am not in that category but I would be happy to take on another sub if it was software I particularly wanted, and I would consider the option over an out right purchase if the numbers were reasonable. I do like the idea of having the choice. The main issue I can see is if an application switches to sub only when there is a large user base. How existing users are treated would be critical.
  6. Ah, its a FX plugin, a first glance I thought it was a VSTi.
  7. Unless I have misread it you only get an online workspace if you have Sphere. It may be possible for me to give them access and have them access the files with a Web browser. I will have to check.
  8. Installed. The work spaces functions look excellent, trouble is my current collaborators don't use Sphere so I won't be using it anytime soon.
  9. Is the loss and damage consideration that serious? I used to manage licences for specialist software in a international organisation. We had around 60 dongles and we lost or broke 3 or 4 in around 10 years, usually during demob and international shipping. Other licencing methods were more problematic. Worst were geographicly restricted authorisations. We had a licence purchased in the US that could not be authorised from a Mexican ISP address.
  10. English folk musician John Spires organises his "Isolation Pub Sessions" with musicians from all over contributing remotely on traditional tunes. The results go on YouTube. He gets plagued with copyright disputes on traditional tunes dating back 100s of years.
  11. Not home computers but first computer I used in the early 80's was TI 770 intelligent terminal which we used as a standalone for processing survey data. You could get a 300 lines of 80 characters in each of the two files on a tape cassette! The company was a subsidiary of TI hence the unusual choice of hardware. Not long after we also started using a HP 85 which was a bit slicker and I was introduced to BASIC programming. It still used the same tapes. When we got the first PCs with massive 5 1/4 floppy drives it was a game changer. I did not start using computer for music until the 386 with the Cadenza MIDI sequencer program.
  12. I find myself using both CbB and S1 as they both have features the other lacks, I still prefer CbB for MIDI with the exception of a lack of a chord track. S1 is less convenient working with dragging MIDI in to plugins like Superior Drummer and EZ Bass and I have some issues with Orange Tree Guitars in S1 which could be system specific. S1 is better for audio (but I do miss the Pro-Channel). I think the Melodyne integration is better.
  13. I don't know why I am thinking about this, pure GAS, I have NI Battery, Arturia Spark, D16's 909 and several others and I have seldom used them, but only $9.99........ ?
  14. I only tried the Project page for the first time this week. So I have not missed automation yet, but I am sure I will soon. The sub is working out pretty well for me given I wanted both Notion and Studio One.
  15. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water!
  16. I have one if these as a back up drive where I keep images of my PC drives. Seems a decent product.
  17. Exactly, being able to define what strings and what articulation is played for every beat is very useful. The NI guitars sound good but they are more limited, particularly if you venture into odd time signatures.
  18. Such tools can be very useful for writing and making demos even if they won't make the final mix. On my current project virtual bass, guitar and drums have all been replaced with real instruments, my mock up providing a rough guide for musicians recording the final parts.
  19. I thought this was apt. https://www.instagram.com/p/CLrTNj7hc5Y/?igshid=17lufqmbp1nif I was puzzling yesterday why my EQ did not seem to be making a difference- I was tweaking the plugin on a muted channel, not the one I was listening to. ?
  20. I will look in Cakewalk later if I get chance but from Studio One 5 I can tell you. Stops are activated by a latching keyswitch so you turn them off with the same key that turned them on. This should be the easiest way. I have yet to delve into articulation maps in Cakewalk but it should be straightforward to create one if one does not exist already Stops respond to MIDI learn and I was able to assign a controller on CC14 to turn on and off a stop. Right click on a stop to activate MIDI learn and twiddle the relevant knob to set it up.
  21. I do like G-Force's synths and its good to see them bringing out something new. I already have Arturia's offerings and the free Datasounds OBXD and some stuff in Syntronic so I have the OB sound quite well covered and I won't be too worried its Mac only for now. I hope that will not become a trend.
  22. Its certainly not normal behaviour. Its been a long time since I used Sonar 8.5 but I used organ plugins a lot and still do in Cakewalk by Bandlab and never such a problem. Clutching at more straws I once had a problem with a faulty controller keyboard chucking out spurious controller data ( probably due to a faulty pot.) I had to edit the MIDI event list to remove it. I replaced the keyboard and the fault went away. If the track is in focus data from the controller can affect the VST so its possible spurious events may not appear in the event list. One thing to try is unplugging the sustain pedal and recording a new piece. A defective switch or dirty contacts in the pedal could cause spurious data. Another thing to try is disconnect the keyboard and create a track in a new project in piano roll view. Does the problem persist?
  23. Is this specific to one project? If so examine the MIDI event list for sustain pedal events that do not have an off? Clutching at straws some organ VSTi use the sustain pedal for Leslie speed. If you have imported MIDI from elsewhere it may contain unexpected sustain events. If the original finished on a fast Leslie speed there would be no sustain off.
  24. I wonder how it would work on instrument sounds?
