Not a showstopper, more of an FYI, but the latest update has crashed to the desktop multiple times when opening a project, yet is just fine after restarting and opening the same project. Only happens the one time per session, totally fine after that. Ya, some plugin issue, but the only changes I can confirm on these projects is trying out a couple of new ones with active iLok or other authorization. fwiw, not been able to duplicate in another DAW with the same plugins.

Anything with onerous overhead is blacklisted here (i.e. Waves/IK/UAD) but Overloud might be the one to beat. I found this to be interesting. The GEMs I have of theirs are quite useful.

interesting. found the original version to already be a bit more saturated than standard LA-2As (could just be a gain structure artifact). their LA-3A is also a good one.

nice, the update to the snare was a nice difference to my ears,

Satriani and Ampsims.. This made me chuckle

but is it vst3? fwiw, nice evidence of the staying power and viability of a classic. I get hit up to sell the psa-1 on a regular basis, but still prefer rack over pedals... -

thx. not enough to make me go back to PT. -

wondering which plugin he used. have. hardly ever considered the version in PT and the Nembrini sounds nothing like the unit I have, which is an original release sansamp psa-1. -
Why does ASIO buffer size affect Melda MHarmonizerMB quality?
jackson white replied to Terry Kelley's question in Q&A
And perhaps a function of the *current state* of the total sum of *variables* which is more of a moving target on a PC. Recent notes on what sounds like a similar problem. Had been running a very stable config for years and ran into the same symptoms described above where most projects ran well enough, but at times, a heavier project, which used to run perfectly on the same system, would just bog down, often in repeatable spots (said projects were pulled from an archive, so exactly the same as before,). The only changes to the system have been O/S security updates, VST updates and CxB, with the feature updates over the last year looking to be the most significant difference at the time. All runtime aspects of this system have been optimized for audio (i.e. no internet, BT, wifi, etc.) and after disabling any VSTs with hyperactive plugin managers or cloud based DRM, had me thinking it was some core HW aspect failing (A/I? motherboard "aging"?). As tempting as a full hw upgrade might be, couldn't quite go there without more in depth investigation. Loaded up some diagnostic utilities and dug into the motherboard/bios settings. TL:DR >> optimizing/overclocking CPU /RAM made all the difference. Never felt the need to do this before (prefer to not stress CPU thermals), but the same projects have been running smoothly with zero problems the last two weeks. Sure, could still be something else, but tends to rule out the A/I hw/drivers atm. YMMV. -
Getting TH3 Overloud To Sound Its Best
jackson white replied to James Dziezynski's topic in Instruments & Effects
a PRS shou;d sound awesome. check your input gain. iirc, there was a problem with a number of presets being "over-cooked" and backing off made a big difference. -

Pretty much what AI does best.

To add to @Carl Ewing comments, it looks to be more than a standard tool. The well known 2 bus comp/limiter workhorses have their place and sound, but can be a bit heavy handed at times when ur looking for something more "transparent/dynamic/exciting" vs. just "loud". Need to load it up and give it a good go but see it in the same ballpark as the transient processing of Eventide's Elevate for what I tend to work on. The vid with the founder is worth a view, manages to be useful and relevant.

Is Cakewalk Reliable For Large Projects?
jackson white replied to Tim Smith's topic in The Coffee House
means "unlocked", means you can overclock -
I've seen this a number of times. and either skip the count in or skip the loop and freewheel+stop+rewind. looks to be some combination of count in+loop+?

I understand Epic currently has Spotify in their "game store", which might suggest soundtracks are part of the gaming experience? And possibly a potential channel for any metal/synth musos out there (based on what little I know about games).

Why does ASIO buffer size affect Melda MHarmonizerMB quality?
jackson white replied to Terry Kelley's question in Q&A
Ya, wrestle with this at times as well. IME it's been a balancing act, dependent on system resources, environment -and- VST specifics. Does it start as soon as you hit Play? Or will your audio playback a bit before "getting choppy and distorted"? What does your performance monitor look like when your audio "breaks up and gets choopy"? What are your CPU specs (# cores, clock speed)? -
Have you considered sampling it as is and releasing it as the next Spitfire Audio Original?

My Favorite Rick Beato Thumbnail (Not a Deal)
jackson white replied to Reid Rosefelt's topic in Deals
the guitar talent in austin was just ridiculous at the time. eric johnson had the electromagnets going, his drummer! had his own band to play guitar (he could kill as well), srv was the 2nd!! guitar player in paul ray's band, his brother was still flashing at the time before going down the less is more path, wc clark got stuck playing bass, billy gibbons was a regular (although he be houston) along with albert collins and freddie king, ray benson if you're into swing and so, so many more that never made the big time. what was this thread about? -
From SoS; "Pricing for the reimagined Bock mics is $1249, $2999.and $5999 for the 187, 167 and 251, respectively." That's some imagination. What's next, an SM57 clone for $399?.
-
Going with David Bock should be a great move, nice to see a 251 clone and the possibility? of a FET 47 clone. Been looking for a Bock Audio iFET (> FET 47 clone) excellent on bass but hard to find and a bit pricy. Not counting on UAD to be the "affordable price leader", but will keep this on the radar.

imho, the PC covers basic EQ/compressor needs pretty well, so this request is geared more for things like amp sims, saturation, non-send spatial fx and character compressors, where the goal would not be trying to "match" settings. @Will_Kaydo tend to agree on amp sim presets, but found it necessary to create and save presets as they've been lost/defaulted more than a few times, and also as a convenience for L/R tracks of same but different EGs for spatial reasons and for use in another DAW.

Click-Select in time ruler (rant)

The latest round of automation editing for a vocal comp really highlighted what a productivity speed bump this "feature" is. I'm at a loss to come up with a common use case for all tracks auto selected when swiping a region in the timeline. -
These are difficult to sort out. Have a similar issue with a couple of projects that kill the audio engine (pops!!) at repeatable spots during playback. - These projects ran fine for months without any problem. NB, the only activity was tracking vocal takes, setting a few fader levels and adjusting the timing of a few midi notes, -no other changes- to anything other than running WIN10 Pro security updates and updating CW to the latest version. Believe it has been isolated to a single VST, tried creating new presets, driver settings/reinstall, re-checking system settings, etc. etc, and even rebuilt the problem tracks in a completely new CW project on a different PC, but with no luck. - The only thing that worked was rebuilding the project in another DAW (same PC) ... - Checked the original project a month ago after the latest CW update and it ran with no issues!! Perhaps the update changed something? - Ran the original project two days ago, bang! same problem once again after a month of issue free playback. ... IDK, whatever it is it affects the audio engine playback, sharing this in the possibility of some additional insight. Also noting the occasional spiking of all cores in the performance monitor and the audio slowing down just like a "digital tape stop" for a 3-5 secs (but not dropout) and then recover..!!?? NB, -just- playing back to review vocal takes. Current perception here is some combination of system environment/VST/CW audio engine. I stay on top of any known system settings and have tried a number of CW preferences, but always gone back to the original settings which have proven to work for all projects to date. Typically work offline but wondering about any VST "call home" activity. Actively engaged with the VST dev atm, but they haven't been able to replicate the problem on their test setup (but different DAW).
