@Max Arwood fwiw, just tried the demo for MasterDesk True Peak and all seemed to work well enough for the vst3 here. ExceptionHandlingSeverity =1 ru seeing the same problem on any other plugins?
-
fixed that for you.
-
@scook well that was a mighty keen observation. setting ExceptionHandlingSeverity = 1 cleared up the issue with at least one of the problem vst3s, assume it will hold for the other. yet another dimension to the complexity of performance optimization. thx.
-
only noted on bx_masterdesks and bx_rooms. these are hardly staples, so not a problem per se. PA had UI problems with a previous releases of Brainworx branded plugins (i.e. inverted meters on the bx_console_n) . ExceptionHandlingSeverity = 7 is/has been the default/standard for this system.
-
tried one, it fails just as badly as the vst3 version
-
The response from PA (today) is the basic uninstall/reinstall. No improvement. Further testing confirms the issue with the same two bx_plugins. Noting: clicking anywhere on the UI does nothing, none of the controls respond, but it appears a field for kybd entry gets focus deleting it from the FX bin promptly crashes CW to the desktop the problem VSTs have similar UI designs (Brainworx) bx_plugins with "non_Brainworx" UIs (i.e. bx_townhouse, bx_n, etc.) do not seem to have this problem only using vst3 here they all work as expected in S1 installed an earlier version of bx_rooMS and that worked. did not have others to try. > updated the ticket to PA and CW.

Making music is expensive, my RME Fireface II died...

Another option to consider. https://www.seelectronics.com/dm1-dm2-active-inline-preamps The DM2 features selectable impedance for additional tone shaping of the SM7B (and dynamic mics in general). -
re: FX bin: cpu + latency

ya did that. let's see what tomorrow brings. ?

anyone actually tried to buy something from them? thought I'd give their IRs a shot, but their checkout just goes nowhere. tried 3 different browsers...but they only seem to be trying my patience.

"Scuffham S-Gear 3.0 is coming shortly" Is that in regular years or Scuffham years? ... Despite their lack of frantic scramble in the rat race of vst relevance, it's still one of the best for versatility and playability. Word is 3.0 features a pedal board to integrate the fx guitar players are used to working with. First one's free. Would love to see their take on Vox. Don't believe I'm alone on this.

Brainworx Bx_Console Focusrite updated to 1.4.1
jackson white replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
they may have the best installer, but the 2 bx_updates I've tried (and 1 reported elsewhere) are crashing CW to the desktop if you click on the UI. -
Update, tried the latest version of masterdesk vst3 and it crashes everything to the desktop everytime. same with bx_rooMS. just clickin anywhere on the UI seems to do it. tried a couple of non-bx plugs from PA and they seem to be ok.
-
I've had similar issues with their plugins and see most if not all of the brainworx content was updated a few days ago. From the changelog: Version 1.2.1 (Jun 28, 2022) ... - General: Fixed potential crashes on Windows
-
perhaps this might help?
-
don't they call that a 'tobacco' finish?
-
fwiw, had the same issue intermittently, but was always able to play the project without issue. you might try; 1. uninstall/reinstall your audio/midi interface driver. this seems to be a requirement for some mfrs after a win10 update. 2. check the physical connection for your audio interface.

The built in kill switch now 'graciously' set to 90 days apparently includes a timout reset (kinda like CW?) to avoid deactivation when away from internet access, but is just the initial slap in the face. What happens to your investment when their servers screw up, program bugs manifest themselves or (heaven forbid!), they go out of business? That investment includes -all- of your mixed and archived sessions which frankly, represents way more $$ than a few expansions. The relaunch (over a year ago) is classic bait-and-switch. I'm sure most of their loyal fanbase was thrilled to see signs of life and upgraded in good faith based on the past quality and rep of the core team, only find out it was InMusic in FXpansion clothing who have confirmed their rather poor reputation by wasting countless hours of their users time with a complete CF of an "update". Apologies for the 'drama', but as InMusic is HQ'd in the US, the investment made here in FXpansion prior to the InMusic qualifies as a felony in 49/50 states. And they've done absolutely nothing to fix many (any?) of the bugs or improve features, let alone increase any confidence in using this on any future projects. Continuing to beat a dead rotting horse is a waste of time and energy. 1. Standard practice now mandates rendering all drum tracks to wav files prior to any mixing on every project. Still thinking about the best/most efficient way to do this, sort out bounce vs freezing/exporting/reimporting tracks (nested folders should help). 2. Planning to render and resave archived projects in order to preserve the effort invested in them. 3. Looking for alternatives. SD3 is the only candidate on the radar atm. Never got on with SD2, looking for an opportunity to check SD3 out in depth, will most ;likely have to buy it and try it as there is no demo. Nobody I work with uses it... ... It's unfortunate, first that pirating apparently led to this scenario and now driving similar trends, i.e. KIT plugins absolutely require an active internet connection to work. Good stuff, but = a hard pass on anything that compromises the ability to use it. Can ony hope the market eventually delivers up a better alternative. Perhaps Melda or PA will take this on as a growth opportunity. They don't seem to have any issues with their DRM.

Duplicate Track into another project

might this be the replacement for the UAD version? the arturia version seems to be usable, but haven't done a head to head comparison yet.

noting a similar crash with a PA bx_plugin which was solved by reverting to a previous version of the plugin as well as a number of screen draw bugs littering the screen with leftover bits that persist for the entire session. annoying, but not a shostopper. other than that, it's been running quite well.

seems to be an ongoing dogfight to keep things working the way you want. have noted the same without being able to confirm exactly what was driving the activity, finding win 10 pro updates can sometimes reset carefully disabled settings. AVs can be a likely culprit, including win defender. not completely sure disabling updates actually disables downloading files? i've taken to setting the internet connection to manual and only connect as needed, but noting an unfortunate trend to require an active connection for some newer vsts...
