The Software Subscription Bubble May Be Set To Burst
kitekrazy replied to kitekrazy's topic in The Coffee House
We always come up with new entitlements. Everything is a tipping industry. There are no longer contracts but charities. -
Mac minis are probably the best value until Apple decides it's not. I don't like to be held hostage by hardware. It's not just Apple doing that either. MS will have to rethink their TMP requirement. I also had to upgrade a video card just to use Kontakt 7.

I use to buy parts just in case I "ever" wanted to do 200 tracks and a bunch of libraries. Then there was this sense of reality called "why". I've never gone that far. That's the problem with hobbies. People always buy unnecessary gear. See how far people go who play golf for fun. They even have golf balls that are suppose to make your game better. I've got plenty of "game changing" plugins. Interesting how PC hardware rarely dies if you built your own systems. There's a lot of bad and bloated development these days that can bring newer systems to a crawl. A serious gamer now uses a 2tb OS drive. So many new games now tip the 100gb scale.

meanwhile CdB still works for me so far.......

My better system I got the spinning wheel of searching for products 3 times when I open NA. A restart fixed it. Much older system did not have this happen. I squirm every time I open NA.

and it's often not quality with those monthly promises Studio One and Bitwig are annual upgrades. Acronis went sub only and now offer perpetual again, -
I still want a fluglehorn. They are pricey even for beginner models.

The temptation of sample hoarding never dies.

Didn't Schecter make one of these? I know it wasn't one of their premier guitars. I remember seeing one at a GC years ago and it wasn't premier priced.

Nope. Just one more orchestra............or become a collector of brands. VSL is out of my budget but EW...........

Like all of mine needed updates.

I didn't see anything called this on their site. I not realized this is not a separate instrument but presets that show up in Sound Factory.

I prefer the individual GUIs instead of them being all ST. It's still the most confusing browser.

odd that the former Sony products are not on the list -
How much disk space? I think each one is 40GB. I've only downloaded one of them but not yet installed.
-
It doesn't work that way. Are we interested in it only because it's free?
-
Misleading title............. not free only with a certain purchase

LOL I get the Something Broke with their app. Now I'm going this rinse and repeat of trying to fix NI style. I'm so tired of not have direct downloads. I have bad luck with with developer's (cr)app. Just get your (cr)app together please. Even if it is open it's not showing in task manager. I had to manually remove the app. Odd during the previous error message it somehow installed the plugin. I also forgot I had a sub to Beat Magazine. I'm about 10 issues behind in looking at it.

We’ve got some great news to share: Sequoia, Samplitude, and Music Studio are now part of Boris FX. We're very excited by this and want you to know that the software you trust is in safe hands. The entire team, including developers, engineers, product leadership, and support staff, has made the move. We’ve formed a new subsidiary in Germany to support this transition; longtime team members Thomas Wolf and Sven Kardelke will lead as co-CEOs of Boris FX Germany GmbH. What does this mean for you? Simply put: Sequoia, Samplitude, and Music Studio are here to stay, and they’re about to get even better. With the backing of Boris FX, development will speed up, bringing you more frequent updates, cutting-edge new features (including AI-powered tools), and continued innovation. Support remains seamless, now with an even larger global team behind you. Most importantly, the products will continue to deliver the precision, reliability, and quality you’ve always counted on. We’ll be sharing more details later this summer. In the meantime, we’ve answered a few common questions below. For now, just know that your trust in Sequoia, Samplitude, and Music Studio remains well-placed. Thanks for being part of the journey. We’re excited for what’s next. All the best, Boris Yamnitsky Founder & CEO, Boris FX
