I keep my recycle bin 2GB. Other drives no recycle bin All downloads are downloaded to a HDD drive.
-
I usually do that first. One system had 3GB. Managing system restore and delete, create a new one, have it set to minimum. I still use it because of Native Asshat.

A system that I don't use all of the time has a 256gb drive. When I boot up this machine I usually check the space. Yesterday it only had 2GB left. The usual culprits are Live's left over installers or system restore points. I use Tree File Size to check the innards. Amazing how many of these plugin developers bloat your system with presets that can be over 1GB. The biggest culprits are AT and Tonex which eats 6gb. My Reason REs take up 15gb. Kilohearts, NI, Melda, presets or whatever they are use a lot of space in those strange folders that I never thought existed in XP. The real problem began trying to clone the drive to a 1TB drive. Acronis constantly failed. After some annoying research that failure was due to only having 2GB of space left. For some reason that shortage of space would created problems to transfer to a new drive. I moved all of My Documents to another drive to free up some more space. Acronis rarely fails me. This was plenty of attempts. I have AOMEI Partition Assistant but I wanted to stick with Acronis because of past success and also familiar. Then there were other errors like disk is not initialized and I'm starting to see system crashes with diskmanagement, drive ultilites, you name it. I couldn't even format the transfer drive. I thought great I got a broken drive that hasn't been put to use. I always test drives when new since quality isn't what it use to be. All of this was done to transfer the OS using an drive dock which I never had trouble before. I wasn't ready to open the case and disconnect a drive and then transfer. Sometimes you never no how much it screws up licensing of software when it comes to hardware changes. The increasing space bloat is mystery. I can only think the culprit is Windows F'updates. There is one that fails and the only solution is to use cmd and resize the partition for that update. That's MS solution to fix. They probably wont. I have to wonder if those failed updates stay and don't get over written. Somehow this system increased 10GB on it's own. With MS and Apple you will hear when there is a problem the suggestion is make sure your OS is up to date. It seems updating breaks more than fixes recently.

As for their loyalty I avoid. I don't need another DAW. Last week I upgraded Samplitude Pro Suite of $149 only because it had Soundforge and Spectra Layers. Tracktion reminds me too much of Reason where they are more interested in selling their instruments. Long live Reaper.

Aeron will go on sale for $699 occasionally. Budget stuff is pure crap these days, even those non mesh gaming chairs. They shed and mesh chairs seem to have the mesh separate. How many of those Aerons I could have bought instead of budget chairs I could afford. Reviews are overrated since the ratings are when people just bought them.

recently I thought I would get everything UJAM if they did something like Melda does. I got an email to have UJAM everything for 119. Now plugin scans will take longer.

The lack of information from the developers website=do not buy.

Doesn't seem to have any interest.

A modern developer would say "I can fix that. I can bring any system to a crawl". Long live Reaper.

I upgraded an OS drive and now PD won't authorize. It always needed online authorization. They never released a final version that doesn't require it. It was my favorite. Either I got lucky but all of my HDDs lasted a long time with this. Always looking for a free quality alternative since the available ones are part of a subscription package.

Using USB-Over-IP to closet or share your dongles

I have 3 iLoks and it's nice that some developers allow for 3 authorizations. UVI is one of them. If EW and VSL allowed for 2 authorizations I'd be all over that. -
Had this issue recently as well. Maybe a glitch.

My UR22 seems to be fine. Amazed that my AP2496 with W7 drivers is still in use on W10.

Except it lies by promising things will be better. I mad e up one called stuffed shirts - they look at spreadsheets and ignore the "sheet" they spread. -
FL Studio Cloud, LoopCloud, Cakewalk NEXT .. a new DAW trend
kitekrazy1 replied to aidan o driscoll's topic in Deals
Magix did this before the rest of them. Don't forget Garage Band I avoid FLs because I have everything except loops. Like I need more of those? I guess the advantage is instead paying $$$ for a loop library for sounds where you might only use a few of them. Sample library developers are doing that now. The drawback to loop subs is no midi files can be auditioned. Every DAW not named Reaper is like iTunes. Besides few people have no idea how large the amount of illegal downloads when it comes to loops. While Image Line rarely gets money from me I always buy their Flexx presets. People always push the panic button on their forum with these boneheaded models for IL's finances but they assure us their lifetime updates are a success. They on;y way the fail is if everyone on that planet has a license. They are not into enshitiffication. They don't mess with Melda, UVI, or WA, -
I did the Bapu thing and bought all of the ones I didn't have and it wasn't $88, UJAM is another one of those developers I like because of licensing but I rarely use it. Oh wait I rarely use most of the stuff I bought. I think my most used app is Firefox. We often neglect these drum apps in our DAWs. Live, FL Studio, and the LE version in Cubase are more than adequate. Battery is often neglected. But the beauty of these 3rd party apps is to make your DAW take longer to start up.. Mixcraft adds humor when scanning plugins.

Gig Performer not available through Plugin Alliance anymore (Not a Deal)
kitekrazy1 replied to Walter Cruz's topic in Deals
That should be done with all purchases. Imagine what it would be like to download and reinstall bloated libraries. Developers have gotten into a bad happen thinking people don't archive their purchases. That is the problem with these all in one installers. This is where NI gets an F in my book. I never had to pay a download fee that IK use to charge. As many of use have upgraded to SSDs those HDDs make for archiving using a drive dock. This is also where Steam versions of games are great compared to Ubi, EA, ect. You can backup your games and they compress them. -
Too bad it wasn't like Melda getting credit for what you have.
-
It isn't much different than the older installer.
-
Unfortunately their sample based REs need the sample of the OS drive. It's not as flexible as other players.
-
So is this plugin manager OK? I'm shy after dealing with NI.
