Per the instructions, I dragged the .rematrix file into the plugin (which itself is authorised) and clicked cancel when prompted for a serial. Now the FIRST presets are complaining about not being licensed. Any idea?

I downloaded FIRST and added to ReMatrix Player** several hours ago, but just tested it.  You are right! The player is working for other presets, but on the strips for the FIRST presets, it says <Unlicensed IR>.

**Update: I just tried adding the file while in my DAW (as opposed to doing that just in the player).  Still no go.

  2. Sorry I didn't realize you were still on a roll when I posted Five Bridges as a association for the 59th Street Bridge.  I was going to take it down, but it seems that no one noticed it.

I might still take it down and save it for another occasion.

    Carry on.

Actress Teri Garr, known for her first breakout role in Young Frankenstein where she starred as Inga, Dr. Frederick Frankenstein's assistant.

If you've never seen the movie watch it, if you have, watch it again👍

Never knew she had MS.  Garr gave us a number of memorable characters and I recall seeing her pop up in roles I never knew about. For me, her performance as the ditz in Star Trek was quintessential ditziness.  Her performance in Tootsie always stuck with me, too.  I remember a number of times thinking, "That sounds like/looks like Teri Garr!" looking it up and sure enough it often was her.  I don't know that she was ever a BIG STAR, but whenever I heard/saw her, I thought her character was spot on.

Yes I do it very successful but  Quite a bit of preparation . . . .

Thanks for enumerating the steps you used!  Not a top priority for me since I haven't created instrument definition files in a long time.  But I am curious to see if the steps will be useful for other types of workflows / projects I have explored in the past.

It was intended for all who purchased Tier 4, previously or after the email Humble sent.  I also just proposed a pretty straightforward solution (hopefully) for the folks having issues with a few of the libraries not downloading so if you haven't contacted IK Support about your issues with Tier 4 libraries please do so.

Thanks for chiming in.  Good suggestion for those with issues to contact support.  With the original bundle, Tier 4 would have only added 6 libraries I didn't have (as opposed to 12 in the revised Tier 4 bundle), and they would not have been my first choice.  The $20-minimum tier had 3 and the $15-minimum tier had 1. Not complaining, mind you, just lamenting that the change wasn't announced sooner here (a forum that has a number of loyal IK consumers) and I missed it.

  6. The beginning of the "Included plug-ins" sections is on Page 1477 of this Reference Guide .  TTS-1 (multi-timbral synth based on Roland's Sound Canvas ROMPlers) is no longer included.  However, there are other audio and MIDI FX plug-ins that might interest you.

As for MeldaProduction's MFreeFXBundle, as of about 2 weeks ago it included MDelay. As others have noted, there are many other delay/echo plug-ins as well.

There are also plenty available for purchase, but I'd start with free ones and work your way up as you discover you need things they can't do

    [emphasis added]

Good advice here! Two two minor additions: (1) Sometimes a plug-in maker or a third-party vendor will offer a paid plug-in for free as a promotion.  (2) Sometimes a plug-in maker or a third-party vendor will offer a paid plug-in for an unusually low price.  As a fan of delay/echo effects, I will sometimes  pick up plug-ins in either of these categories after a test drive of a demo or watching the manufacturer's demo/intro video.

"Due to popular demand, we've worked with IK Multimedia to sweeten the bundle. Tier 4 of the IK Pro Sound Bundle now offers a massive 88 products, 600 GB of sounds and grooves and over 18,000 instruments."

Thanks. A bit disappointing for people that bought the bundle earlier and missed out on the upgraded ST bundle. Ridiculously good value at this price.

Yesterday (2024-10-23), when I realized I could get my 12 missing libraries for the Tier 4 price, I went to the HB site and saw the offer had expired. In researching "IK Pro Sound Suite" today, I found another a post in another forum that references an e-mail the HB team evidently sent out.  I am quoting it here since it might be of interest to purchasers of the Suite:

    Great news!

IK Multimedia is so excited with the incredible performance of their Humble Bundle deal, they’ve decided to sweeten the offer for everyone! We’re delighted to inform you that your Tier 4 purchase has been upgraded! Now, in addition to the 40 products, 30 GB of loops and sounds, you’ve been upgraded to the entire SampleTank 4 MAX v2 collection.

Once you’ve registered your tier 4 serial you’ll see a new serial in your IK user area letting you download all 88 products, 600 GB of sounds and grooves and over 18,000 instruments. It includes all the libraries you’ve already unlocked, plus dozens more in every style and genre from classical to trap.

It’s IK’s way of saying thanks for making our Humble Bundle offer such an amazing success! And if you know anyone else who might benefit from this incredible deal, there’s just a few days left to tell a friend and raise money for our amazing partner Music Will.

Sincerely, The Humble Bundle Team  [emphasis added]

I find it interesting that this was posted 14 days ago (2024-10-10, by my calculations). The way I read this, the letter was intended for people who had already purchased Tier 4 of the bundle.

If you bought Tier 4 before the change, you should get the upgraded content of ST4 MAX v2 as well.

In the past when we have seen clarifications posted in the forum like this ^^^, even if it took some time to get straightened out, I am pretty sure that IK came through.  I'd give them a chance to make good on this.

  9. Nice to see Cakewalk by Bandlab on the list of actively tested host applications.  Running my most recent XLN Installer self-updated the XLN Installer (to 4.3.0). Windows then ran the antimalware service followed by the compatibility telemetry checker. I only had 3 items to update, but the update button worked.

The greyish tan on beige theme is part of the modernization.  Not really an improvement for my aging eyes over the older high contrast settings. Probably won't affect people with younger eyes, but might bother others who prefer to avoid light themes.

I probably should have installed the demo first.  😞

PS: The ratio of interlinear spacing to text size seems to be greater, in effect making the text seem smaller compared to the size of the UI pane. Scaling can be used to make everything proportionally bigger.

  10. Thanks for the update.  It took a little while for me to find how to get that icon, but I did.  And sure enough, in that mode floating windows/panes can only be moved within the main desktop on Monitor 1.

I almost never use that mode, so I explored it a little.  By dragging the main desktop so it spans both my monitors, I was able to move floating windows/panes anywhere around the Cakewalk desktop.

Based on my personal workflow preferences I probably won't be using the "desktop-spread-over-multiple-monitors" mode (not sure what the official name is), but it is good to know how to use it.  So, thanks for taking the time to update the issue.

BTW, you might want to add [SOLVED] to the subject/topic so if others have a similar issue they will know to look at the thread for your solution.

PS: Just to clarify: I use Monitor 1 for the Cakewalk desktop (full screen).

FYI - to stop MIDI Output being enabled on newly inserted synths:

    1. Open Synth Rack View
    2. Click on the "Insert Synth Options" dialog button
    3. Ensure "Enable MIDI Output if Available" is unchecked, then click OK.

Thanks.  Good to know / be reminded that the default behavior for new synth insertions can be changed to "Enable MIDI Output if Available" for those users with music-making workflows that favor having it on.  Since I enable it manually only in the few cases where I need it, I am glad the default option is unchecked.

I have been working on some synth performance/recording modalities that might eventually make more extensive use of synth-generated MIDI. So, when the time comes and I "Set it and Forget it," It will be good to have this setting to my debugging checklist.

the version 2 synth included the FX component.

Too late for me, but this is good to know for people that have version 2. Maybe I am mis-remembering or maybe it was added later, but I have a memory of either being told or reading that version 2 didn't have the ability to use the FX section to process audio coming from another source. That's why I didn't get it.   Thanks for the correction.

I've had the trial version of Cakewalk Sonar and there is a difference between CbB and Sonar in the preferences menu, under Display. In Sonar there is a Display Scale Slider plus 'Enable DPI Awareness' and Enable GPU acceleration' checkbox options. I tried the first two and the options menu in Kontakt appeared in the correct form.

But, these options are not available in my version of CbB (latest update). Does anyone know if they are hidden somewhere, or have been removed - or perhaps were never there in the first place.   [emphasis added]

Simplest explanation: These must be new features that weren't available in CbB. At one point we were told, no new features will be added to CbB.  Maybe you missed that?

47 minutes ago, Stephen Power said:

I wasn't really asking if a new feature had been added to CbB.

The question (in my OP) is: Does anyone know if they are hidden somewhere, or have been removed - or perhaps were never there in the first place.   [emphasis added]

If I misunderstood your question, I apologize.  Maybe someone else knows the answer you are looking for.

  14. Over the years I have also had multiple MIDI notes.  In all of those cases, it was due to pilot error (recording MIDI notes from multiple devices / ports / paths).  For me the good thing about this issue is it can be fixed. Even once I started using CbB and had forgotten how I used to solve the problem, once I figured out the cause, the solution came back to me.

In a way, it's like riding a bicycle--I still remember how, but at my age, some things are not as safe to do without taking precautions.  😉

As soon as at least one Synth has "Enable MIDI output" set, the fun can begin... Fortunately, the case is easy to detect: when in the selection list for possible MIDI inputs "All External Inputs" exists, there is at least one Soft synth with MIDI output enabled.

Thanks for this tip.  If I ever get the multiple notes problem again, I will add this to my diagnostics routine (if it's not something I have already been checking, but just forgot about).

Just remembered: I used to have both a usb midi interface and a 5-pin din connection to my computer. So, that can also be a cause to the multiple-notes issue. Again, it's pilot error and the solution is easy--avoid recording the same midi data from multiple devices / ports (hardware and / or software).

In case its not clear, I am not asking for help solving a problem; I am just trying to add some additional information in hopes that it helps others understand possible causes and solutions.

I wonder why it happens to some but not others?  What the specific system differences are?

. . . I had just re-wired up a bunch of external MIDI gear in a "loop" so they were all able to send and receive data to / from the computer, and at least one of them was still setup internally as MIDI Thru when it shouldn't have been . . . .

    Yup!!!!  Been there; done that!!!!

  15. Personally, over the years since Z3ta+ was bundled with SONAR I got more use out of the Z3ta+ 1 series than Z3ta+ 2, mainly because I used the FX version to process and control FX in real time and never bought v. 2 which lacked that ability.  If whoever owns the rights to the software could / would update it and include the ability to process and control audio piped in from other sources, I would love to see if rivals (or possibly exceeds) what I used to do with v. 1.5.

PS: I just successfully tested a basic project that has DimensionPro 1.5 routed through Z3ta+ 1.5's FX. Glad to see the old technology still works for some purposes.**  Thanks.

Clarification: Not dissing v. 2; my aim is to encourage making the abilities of the older plugins available to more users.

**UPDATE: Not sure how extensively this method can be used: adding Rapture 1.5 to the test project caused a DAW crash.

Not sure why this hasn't been posted (that I can see) . . . .

Because people on the mailing list who already have an account might have seen "IMPORTANT: For new Groove3 users only" and felt bummed that it was only for new customers only? Dunno.

MIDI is just information that tells a synth what to play. Do you have a synthesizer, software or hardware, connected and do you have the routing correct from the MIDI track to the synth to the sound card/audio interface?

The file works with GM [General MIDI] synths.  As @57Gregy comments, you need to route the MIDI data to a software or a hardware synth (some device that will play sounds).  The file worked for me using an old Roland M-GS64 (hardware sound module) as well as an old TTS-1 softsynth.

  18. Just saying, there are other ways to find out about deals.  Almost everyone seems to be more than happy to send out e-mails.  It is not that difficult to get on mailing lists, and have deals directed to a special folder.   Maybe it's just me, but I find it takes less time to read through the ads / newsletters / promotions / etc. than to click on post after post after post ad nauseum. Also, there's much less trolling by people who have axes to grind.

In general Cakewalk users (as well as a few others) are still posting, but it seems to be what those individuals are interested in.  JMO: I do not miss all the negativity (product-bashing, manufacturer/developer-bashing, user-bashing, etc.) at all.
