Thanks guys ive moved to a different daw.
Best wishes, and thanks for raising the issue and for the replies that came in after Friday.
I downloaded the Yamaha software synth as suggested and tried it with some old (as in from last century!) midi files I purchased on a licensed, commercial Led Zeppelin 3.5" floppy disk. The drums and some other sounds from the Yamaha were not as good as the TTS-1 and not as good as my memory of whatever my computer used last century (possibly a sound card chip), BUT: the lead guitar on the suggested Yamaha was great!!!!
Not sure I will reorchestrate it, but if I do, I'd use the TTS-1 as the base with the Yamaha on the guitar track.

Can you thing of anything else I can try?
If I had that issue, I'd check to make see if midi data is getting into my computer from the controller/keyboard. I would try MIDI-OX as well as recording midi data. If data is coming in, I'd look for how the data is being routed to my sound device(s) and check settings that control the sound.

Hi All
Apologies if this is in the wrong category but I'm very new to cakewalk and I'm trying to add Musio. Is this possible if so any help would be very much appreciated
Welcome. I don't use Musio, but I searched the forum and there seem to be a number of posts about it. Here's the link for the forum search I did. There is some very recent discussion that might be of interest to you.

Just saying, things like Ctrl+Z should always be undo no matter what view you're working in.

I will carve out some time this week to explore when I use Ctrl+Z. IIRC I have run across differences when undo does and doesn't work when different windows had focus. Also IIRC some tasks are not undoable within a window when other tasks are undoable. I will try to find some examples.

I'm not sure which uniqueness you're referring to. Mostly, there are conveniences that I like in some views that I'd like to have in other views, like scroll lock and fit horizontal. Fit data horizontally in Piano Roll would be handy, I think.
There are certain keystrokes and operations that should work the same way. There's no reason for the basics of cut, copy, select, paste, undo, zoom etc. not to be the same keystroke(s) in every view. Equivalent menus should be in the same place, same order, where applicable.
This last has long been a bugaboo of mine with Cakewalk/Sonar, especially the differences between Track View and Console View. Those two sets of menus look like they come from different programs. One has the "Track" menu, the other has the "Tracks" menu, Track Manager is even under different menus. Then there's the main menu, which is up above the TV menu but holds a number of operations that should really be down on the TV menu (like adding tracks, basically everything in the Insert menu and half of what's in the Project menu belong down in the Track View's own menu).
I'm known as the Konsistency Kop due to this in certain circles. There's usually no drawback to checking for consistency, and once something is in place, it's harder to change it without discomforting experienced users.
I guess it's just me, but after 6 years, I still get things mixed up as to which menus are where between TV and CV. You can add a new track from CV's "Track" menu, but not from TV's "Tracks" menu.
When things are (needlessly, IMO) mixed up like that, it makes it harder to memorize them. And IMO, it contributes to a feeling of roughness around the edges.

Not this:

It would be reaaaaaaaallly handy if that could also apply to the Event List.
For decades I have been opposed to symmetry, parallelism, etc. just for the sake of symmetry, parallelism, etc. Some people want / need things to look alike, sound alike, be alike, behave alike, etc. for the benefit of their personal workflows.
As for the Event List needing Scroll Lock functionality, when I need to edit something, I stop / pause the playback. I can respect that others might have a use for stopping the the movement while the music continues.
4 hours ago, Promidi said:I just tried it here. Scroll Lock does indeed stop the view from scrolling in the Event list view.
I never tried this until just now. For me the song continued to play and the Event List continued to scroll. Do I need to change any settings to get the SCRL LOCK key to pause just the event view display?

Are Lenny and the SquigTones a prequel from the days before there were prequels? Foreshadowing? An example of the benefits of Time Travel?
Just for the fun of it, here's a real news segment (2003) about the legendary 1960s folk trio the Folksmen who were immortalized in "A Mighty Wind."

Thanks. I do understand the need to change passwords with upgraded websites. I just wish I wouldn't have to pretend I forgot it because lying is so endemic.

No wonder pwd doesn't work any more: "We recently upgraded our website. Please reset your password to use the new system."
Heads Up: In order to reset your pwd you might have to lie and say you forgot your pwd. Oh well; you can't fight

I downloaded Cakewalk to edit midi files. Ive managed to sort of get it to play some vst sounds internally but it usually plays one instrument for all of the tracks. Every reference post or viseo i read or watched said i need to select TTS-1 which i have found out is no longer available and i dont have an older version of Cakewalk. So my question is in light of no tts-1 and not being able to find it online to download does this in fact makè cakewalk useless for how i want to use it ??? Ive been working on this for a week and i thought i would ask just in case there is some other fix someone knows before i remove it. Thanks !
I vaguely recall there was a discussion of possible alternatives. If nothing else, you should be able to use GM hardware modules. A few months ago (maybe more), I reconnected one of my Roland M-GS64 Sound Modules and it worked to play some non-original midi files I had. If I find the link to the discussion of software GM compatible softsynths, I will add it below (unless someone else beats me to it).

To me the beauty of having different views is that you can do different things with them and some views have methods that are better for some workflows than other views. Sorry, I appreciate diversity and would not want all views to have the same features, functions, methods, etc. Making all views function the same way and/or in the same manner where there is some overlap runs the risk of getting rid of some uniqueness that fits workflows that some people prefer.

Acknowledging that you've got an addiction is the first step. I feel like people like to joke about GAS but I think it's a serious addiction that can cost people lots of money.
Just to be clear, for me expressing humor and addressing serious issues are not mutually exclusive. On occasion I have referred to GASaholics in what might be considered a lighthearted tone (such as "GASaholics of the world, Unite!!!). To me these kinds of statements serve a positive role and should not be taken to be poking fun at the expense of people who might be considered "Recovering GASaholics."

I use a similar list of personal questions and strategies and find they work for me--for the most part. In fact, now that I think about it, one personal strategy stems dates back a few decades to when I quit smoking cigarettes.

Hi all. Is it possible to have more than one plugin open? For instance, I have a limiter plugin and loudness meter in my master channel, that I need to have open simultaneously to monitor real-time changes from the limiter.

QuoteRecycle Plug-In Windows. By default, Cakewalk recycles the currently-open plug-in window when you open a new plug-in UI, and all previously open plug-in windows are closed. This prevents Cakewalk from being filled with numerous open plug-in windows, and you don’t have to manually close plug-in windows that are no longer needed.

Nothing time limited about it. Clickbait.
To be fair to the OP, the e-mail I just looked at (from earlier today), says "For One Week Only."
QuoteStudio Session FREE is the Reverb Impulse library, designed by Sabino Cannone (MoReVoX), created by capturing the best studio reverb units of the 80s and 90s, including Lexicon*, Eventide* and Yamaha* reverbs. The library includes 10 IRs, 15 presets and the free REmatrix player plug-in.

This tiny subset of the full Studio Session Vol 1 and Studio Session Vol 2 libraries has been and will always be free.
Good to know. Are there other free/sampler REmatrix libraries? I have: Hybrid Free, REmatrix SOLO, Blackstar/Blackstar [Multilayer], Dusty Racks Free, and (as of today) Studio Sessions FREE.
Disclaimer: I haven't found a use for these, but I still find listening to the sampler libraries useful in case I might someday find a pack I might want to buy.

FYI
For those who already have REmatrix, the steps are essentially the same: Skip to Step 5 (download by clicking on the link) then do Step 6 (drag & drop file), press Cancel (instead of knocking yourself out looking for a serial number to enter).
Quote- If you already have REmatrix Full or REmatrix player installed, please skip to step 5
- [skip]
- [skip]
- [skip]
- Download the Studio Sessions Free library
-
[Once REmatrix is opened]
- Drag the downloaded library into REmatrix in order to install it.
- IF ASKED FOR A SERIAL, CLICK CANCEL: the library will be authorized anyway.

i login to Melda Production website just to find out I have the plugin I want already? MCompare
I don't remember buying it.
Also looks like I bought MCenter on February 17, 2024 and never installed it?
Do they just add plugins to your library without notifying you? [emphasis added]
FYI: Introducing MCenter (News item). The date (February 12th) jives with the date of your acquisition.
Just as a user of Melda products, I was under the impression that if a module is added to a bundle you have licensed, it will be added to your account. I was also under the impression that to install a freebie from Melda you had to have it checked when you updated your products (under the prior Download system).
If you want you could write to Melda Customer Support, or ask in the Official Melda Forum at KVR.
UPDATE: Here's a search link for the forum for "MCenter." One of the posts mentions MCenter being added to several bundles. From the changelog that was posted:
QuoteAdded new MCenter plugin, free for MMixingFXBundle, MMasteringFXBundle, MTotalFXBundle and MCompleteBundle users.
As for notifications, I received one PR e-mail on Feb 12th and one on Feb 18th.
QuoteDear MeldaProduction User,
We don't have to wait until Valentine's Day to tell you we love you. Therefore we have come up with a nice present for you. Our newly released plugin, MCenter, is free for just a week . . . .
QuoteDear MeldaProduction User,
We update often and all updates are free for our users. The recently released version 16.11 contains not only the new plugin (MCenter - free until the 18th of February) but many important improvements of the previously released plugins . . . .

Arturia Pigments (5.0.3), Analog Lab (5.10.4), Augmented series etc. updated

added an update
Thanks. I have been having some issues lately, including with Augmented Yangtze but not the others; so, I hope all is well now!
UPDATE: Even the ASC needed to do an auto-update. Time to make another cup of tea and let Update All take its time.
I am on pins and needles though--a couple of months ago, GUI issues I have had with Pigments since early 2023 went away without explanation, possibly due to UI changes related to / as a by product of previous Augmented (or other) changes. I have been meaning to tell customer support that the issue they couldn't solve from 2023 to 2024 finally got fixed. So, I am hoping the new fixes haven't re-crippled the graphics in Pigments like the early 2023 update did. 😞
