Here is a little PR.  I don’t know what cakewalk sonar 4 is, but otherwise you can find the review in the free tape op mag.  You might have to subscribe but it is a good mag.

    What issue?

We're working on some big things behind the scenes.

Arturia.com is down for maintenance. It shouldn't be long. Stay tuned!

It's a little better than it was a few hours ago.  Now I get failed logins from running ASC (instead of it not doing anything) and the website has a "down for maintenance" page instead of the servers being down.

  3. Interesting. I have the studioverb2 dll and chm in a backup folder with files from an old hard drive.  The chm file is dated from 2005. Not sure which edition of Sonar mine came from, but I do have X1 (among others). Congrats on solving the mystery.

BTW, at the bottom of the chm help page, there's this:

This version of FXChorus was developed by Power Technology and is for use with SONAR only. For a version you can use with any product, visit . . .   [dead link to dspfx.com removed so no one goes looking for it]

I am currently struggling to get my MIDI control surface to work with cakewalk. I have tried a lot of things to try and get it to work and it just won't. any time I make the attempt to enable it as a MIDI device my computer just says not enough memory. however, whenever I check my task manger the usage is only 10%, please help!

In my experience that message has always meant that more than one piece of software is trying to access the same MIDI port.

Forum search for "not enough memory." Windows passes that message on to software (such as Cakewalk) as needed.

I see the full page when going to the first link (on a Chromebook).

For me it was working about 2 hours ago.  That's when I used the link to download it.

    . . . I've noticed that if I try and drag/drop a Midi Clip in/out of Sonar (current version) . . . .

Thanks for mentioning this! I never knew (or I once knew but forgot) we could drag MIDI Clips to other music applications, but I tried dropping a clip from CbB to the MIDI File Player in Voltage Modular (Standalone) and it worked.  I'll defer to others re: Cakewalk Sonar.

  7. DEAL:   A nearby college that closed up shop a few months ago has a whole bunch of Steinways for sale.

The college’s closure signals a sweeping transition. Among the assets slated for sale are an array of musical instruments, including a collection of Steinway pianos that held a special place at St. Rose. Dr. Young Kim, a former piano professor at the college, personally selected many of these pianos, envisioning a Steinway-only program to support students’ musical development.

“It’s heartbreaking for me and many people,” Dr. Kim shared. “But I wish those pianos can find a nice home.” The most meaningful to her is the concert grand Steinway, which was housed in the college’s recital hall. “I played so many concerts on that piano,” Kim reflected. Her attachment goes beyond mere function—it’s a connection to years of performances and memories.

A Steinway artist, Dr. Kim dedicated her work to the Steinway brand, bringing a high standard of musical excellence to St. Rose. “Our goal was to become all Steinway,” she noted. Some of the pianos, now priced around $70,000, are still relatively young in terms of their lifespan and musical potential. Steinways are known to last between 80 to 100 years, yet the college’s pianos are only between 10 to 20 years old, making their sale a unique opportunity.

Paul Jennings, from Artist Pianos, is coordinating the sale of the instruments and acknowledged the exceptional pricing. “A new Steinway can cost around $140,000. So these late-model pianos, priced at $70,000, are young in Steinway terms and offered at liquidation prices.”

UJAM Usynth Collection . . . Get all 11 products for only $99 (regularly $270) or individual items for just $19 (regularly $86). Please scroll down to purchase individual items. [emphasis added]

Interesting. I picked up some USynths and although they are not my top-line / go-to prefered synths, I have enjoyed playing around with them and have found them useful for some music I enjoy doing. I can definitely see their appeal.

Having several USynths, I have wondered why UJam didn't give credit with the USynth Bundle for previously purchased Synths like some music software makers do.  (Maybe it was there, but I never found it.)

Not sure I want to pay double ($19 v. $9 per synth in the Bundle) to fill in my collection just to have all the current USynths, but I think it's the next best thing. Maybe if APD does well with this promotion, UJam will consider doing a pro-rated fill-in-your-collection loyalty deal for users interested in the bundle based on how many products a user already owns.
